Yesterday afternoon in LA, this year's Oscar nominees got together for a little luncheon to start celebrating themselves. While the show is still in limbo due to the writers' strike, the good news that there have been "breakthroughs" in negotiations keep us hoping that all will be good well before the red carpet kicks off. 2008 Award Season staples Javier Bardem and Casey Affleck were back in suits alongside Juno's Diablo Cody and Ellen Page (who still looks a tad uncomfortable on the red carpet). Nominee and lunch-er George Clooney seemed similarly optimistic, saying, "I think it's got a good shot at it, and I think it's a great sign. It looks very good...I've never crossed a picket line, and would never. I belong to six unions, so it makes it hard." Though he didn't seem too confident about his chances in the Best Actor category, saying about Daniel Day Lewis, "He screws the whole thing up because he's so good." The Oscars are less than a month away, who's excited?

1I'm very, very excited. I'm an Oscars freak, it's really quite sad. This has been a great year for films.
2I love Ellen's outfit! She's such a cutie. I think she looks better when she's not trying to look too sophisticated (like with that green dress she wore the other day).
3I love predicting winners without bothering to actually see all the films first. It works surprisingly well.

Marion C looks GORGEOUS - that dress WOW!!! I've now seen her at 2 occasions dressed impeccably (sp?) - she's french right , so i guess good style comes with the territory!

19I like George Clooney but he should not have been nominated for Michael Clayton. There were too many Oscar Snubs this year. Josh Brolin, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe were so good in AG.
