Call him crazy (seriously, the whole thing sounds a bit nuts) or just super confident in people not being creepy stalkers, but John Mayer spent last weekend on a cruise with some of his lucky fans. It was amazingly named the Mayercraft Carrier and was a chance for John to enjoy the sun and let some of his musician friends show off their talents to the very literally captive audience. I'm not ashamed to admit that I would love to hang out with John Mayer, he seems pretty cool aaaaand he was, ahem, ballsy enough to rock the Borat suit — more hilarious photos of him (sans shorts) here. He even came out of blog retirement to thank everyone who came on the trip and remind them not to rub it in too much to their coworkers. Sad you missed it? Well, don't worry, they're already taking names for info to get on next year's Mayercraft Carrier.

6lol, the Mayercraft isn't nuts. Nor is Ships n'Dip, Simple Man, or The Rock Boat. Granted, if you're not a music-lover you probably don't get the draw of four days on the water with nothing but fantastic music and more booze then you can imagine but.. doesn't make it crazy.
The fans and artists alike are respectful, and are just there to have a good time. It's always an awesome event.
Fun fact: A typical cruise sells about $20k in alcohol. On this year's Rock Boat they sold $500k. If that's not a party, I don't know what is.

16John is so booooooorring. This man could put me to sleep in a heartbeat with one loooong slooow story out of his mouth. John speaks off the wall most of the time in my opinion. And his music is not great too me either. It's not even good. It sounds like irritating noise. So therefore I guess it matches his facial expressions when he TRIES to sing.

21i went and it was amazing!!!!!! the best time i have ever had in my life! and the dude he is straddling is his best friend sherrod small from VH1's best week ever. so don't knock this cruise...no one was creepy on the boat, it was just a bunch of people who love music looking to have a good time.

22I saw him perform right before he became famous. His label was helping to promote him by handing out matchbooks with his photo on it (way back when you could still smoke indoors), which is funny in retrospect of this whole heartthrob thing -- handing out matchbooks with your info, hoping to score a fan with the ladies. But back then he was super clean-cut, and really cute. Now, not so much my thing. He is good live though, can't say that about many. As usual, there's a video on You Tube:
