A Much More Typical Northern California Day

Jul 10 2006 - 1:28pm

Yesterday morning the city was nice and sunny, so I was fired up for another nice day in the surf. High tide was around 11 am, so I headed out to Linda Mar at about 9. Linda Mar is about 30 min south of my house. Every mile south I drove, it got hazier and hazier. By the time I hit Daly City, it was full on fog.

The surf at Linda Mar was all jumbled, real short period and about 4-5 ft with 10-15mph side to onshore winds...really crappy conditions. I was about to turn around and go home, but I've decided that I've gotten too picky. So in I go. I spent about 2 hours in the water and only caught 4 rides! But I got a good paddeling workout, enjoyed a nice vibe in a crowded line up and the pelicans were fishing for something aggresively. I'd have to give it about a 4 on a scale of one to 10. Couldn't have been more different than Saturday's session in Capitola which was all relaxed with a super easy paddle out.
