Angelina Jolie continued to fulfill her UN duties by having lunch and meetings with soldiers and ambassadors in Iraq yesterday. She doesn't play around — kind of like the CNN interview that explained her reasons for going as well as shutting up the reporter who almost attempted to ask about "those recent rumors." Angie looked ready for war in her protective gear that she made a little more girlie with her scarf. As always it's great to see celebs get involved in ways to bring awareness to world news but Angelina looks like she needs a nap already. May we suggest a cute photo opp of the entire family on the beaches of some exotic location.

she's a great women
1She's really into it; she's a hero.
2I wonder if she genuinely is so compassionate and involved, or is it all just show and tell.
3I doubt she'll make a difference for the refugees, it takes more than a short trip to Iraq to make that happen. All of us have to do their part to make the difference, not just Angelina Jolie. Nonetheless I think she's a great woman (and absolutely beautiful) woman with a lot of experience (just remember her wild years) and I guess that's what made her so stunning.
4thanx for saving da world...if u didnt exist we were dead lol
5creepupmytee: if she genuinely didn't care, why would she bother? She could pull a Britney or Paris and just party without bring attention to any worthy causes out there, or she could simply choose to stay at home with her family on focus on that. The fact that she has continued to do this kind of work shows commitment, dedication and passion to a cause in my humble opinion, so no, I don't think it's a publicity stunt.
Julienne: She all by her lonesome might not make a huge difference to the refugees, but she's using her status to draw attention to the issue which may motivate some people to stand up and do something, so in a non-direct way I believe she is helping them.
That's my two cents. We need more celebs doing more work like hers and less time in rehab!
6Superwomen!
7gigill: I think that might be true, for like ten seconds. Honestly, when you see a picture of a starving child you feel terribly bad but how many people will take action the next day? The event horizon of her trip to Iraq is proably really short, people will see this, feel for the refugees and then forget about it, people are short sighted, especially when they don't feel the consequences themselves. That's in the human nature. But we're not slaves to our genes. Anyway, I don't think it was a publicity stunt either, I'm sure she wants to make a change and does this because its very important to her but I'm not sure how effective it will be but at least she tried unlike others.
8Julienne: you may have a point, but I'd bet you'd be shocked how many celebrities have fans come up and tell them they were inspired to do "so and so" after seeing their fave star bring attention to whatever issue. At the very least she's making people aware and the more exposure a certain issue gets, the more likely it is people will stand up and do something, whether it be writing a letter to their elected representative, donating time or money to a charity etc.
9angie is one tough woman!
10I liked that interview with CNN, she is very smart and commited. What she does is very important, because as a public person she raises awareness. Sometimes, though, I think that she should have a little more sense of humor, like when the journalist asked her about her pregnancy. I know she was talking about very important issues, and there's nothing funny about that, but she is able to do what she does because she's a Hollywood star, not because she's a politician or an expert on the subject.
11I have so much respect for Angie! like some one else said, we need more celebs out there bringing awareness to important causes, not spending half the year in rehab.
12Enough already Pop, she not the only "humanitarian" in this world. There are some in Iraq and darfur right now risking their lives not for show, but for the a cause they really believe in. So just because others do have camera crews following them to try to "show" the world what a fantastic and caring person they are, doesn't mean they don't exit. I'm sick of her, she can go everywhere, meet whoever, and do whatever I still don't like her.
13I love how AJ has been consistently bringing awareness to refugee and humanitarian matters all over the world. It bugs me when people say shes just doing it for press blah blah blah, this woman has been spending time in refugee camps for YEARS, since at least 2000 if I remember correctly. Thats 8 years, so give the woman a break already.
14ok pop, we ge t u don't like aj, time to move on, even dlisted give the girl credit
15U couldn't bring urelf to mention that she met wth Geeranl David Petreaus, she also a member of the CRF members include Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter Henry Kissenger, so she more than just a go gooder
16malibu is so exotic
17I don't know why Angie refused to answer the reporters question about the rumored pregnancy.
It's clear to me that she and Brad fuel the pregnancy rumors: (1) by showing PDA at that an award show dinner, where they knew and permitted a photographer to snap several pictures, one of which became the cover of Star magazine, and (2) by purposely wearing clothing to public events which don't show much of her figure, thereby generating talk that the public figure is masking a pregnancy.)
To Angelina, I would say: Oh, please! You're lucky to have made enough money from your film career to support yourself and achieve recognition, so why not put yourself through school, so that you have more than tacky photo opportunities to work with.
18No good deed goes unpunished.. sad but true
19Oh, and the last time Angelina went to Iraq, it was during the week of the anniversary of Princess Diana's death, and this time it's the week of Super Tuesday. These photo-ops (um, missions) are becoming a bit heavy-handed.
20oh sweet Xenu, these trips are planned months in advanced,m aybe aj should just keep her arse in mailbu and sun tan, get highlights in her hair...and yes I am an angeloonie
21i'm sure that she was really comfortable with that gear on. i just don't like her - so i can't stand hearing about her good-will.
22it is hard to ignore all the good deads she does for people all over the world. she makes a difference by letting the public know about these issues. she is very obviously dedicated and compassionate. and so what if the media follows her around? better to be following her to Iraq to meet w/ soldiers andf ambassadors than than to a dressing room stall at 2am so she can screw some sleeze ball.
23You know, I don't care for her too much personally, but I won't deny the fact that she does more good for others than a lot of people out there. She is personally at risk every time she goes on any of these missions. Can she spend a lot of time there- no. These may look like photo ops, but it gets attention and the message across. She needs to make brief, sporadic visits otherwise it gets too predictable and dangerous for her and others she visits- I am sure she has been briefed how often and where she can go as to not endanger locals or service men by the attention.
24Any attention to these matters is good attention- regardless of the person's motives.
YAY ANGIE! I dedicate Alicia Keys song "Superwoman" to AJ ( and many other tough women out there) - it aint easy.
25Angie truly has a might heart!! GO AJ!!!
26Well they certainly follow clooney around as well, but they never give don cheadle much attention but they snub him at the oscars every year too, so that is not a surprise.
27i know I said I wouldn't go in these threads but I changed my mind , no one's opposition towards my opinion will stop me from writing where and about what I want to but I choose not to write about angelina anymore, but I will write about other subjects within her thread( when they are connected to her) hopefully that is cool.
28Don Cheadle did a great docu, called Dafur Now
29And 60 minutes did a great piece on the Sudan some months back, and it really shed light on how involved our government really is in the whole darfur issue. people have no idea.
30I love, love love don cheadle, he was robbed of the oscar the year hotel rwanda came out, he is just an underrespected actor, look at his rating here on popsugar, so while people say they respect actors like him, I don't see him on very many people's celebrity lists( he is definitely on mine). He and Jeffrey Wright are my two favorite actors at the moment. so it is a popularity issue more than anything. Im sure all don cares about is that people are knowledable about the issue not about any recognition for himself, Im sure he is friend with the jolie-pitts( he did work with brad several times) and isn't sour over it.
31I adore Angie - she is truly beautiful from the inside, out.
32SAVE THE WORLD BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, or go pick up her next accessory
33I agree with city chick. She's not the only one.
Its like a double edged sword; its nice to see someone using their status in a humanitarian way, but its also frustrating considering all of the people who spent years in school studying international peacekeeping who are probably pushing papers around on a desk in their cubicle, doing something completely unrelated to their degree.
I know she went to college, but I'm not sure that she graduated, and I think her degree was in acting/drama.
SIGH.
34agreed j2e1n9 amen
35I love Angelinaa and respect her so muchh. She's very great and kind-hearted
36Indifference is what is killing this world. GOOD for Angie.
37Serisouly!
38This women is wonder women!
I love her
Uh, no, j2e1n9. Angelina dropped out of high school. Brad went to college.
And there are A LOT of people who have military training, law degrees, degrees in international peacekeeping, etc., who are on the ground, drafting reports, processing people, interviewing people, translating, every day. The refugee crisis is not one person operation.
39I guess you could feel jealous at someone like Angelina... she works, she is a loving mom, she is involved in humanitarian projects, she has a loving husband.... yeah I see where all the hate comes from... not everyone has been made to be so strong.
40deba i disagree no jealousy sorry, just dont like her
41I think informed, intelligent people are what keep this world a float, and I have many heros in Iraq right now. Angelina Jolie just isn't one of them.
42*heroes*
43It is not fair! I also do all this humanitarian work for different organizations, and I am not recognized and photographed like Angelina. Why are my photos not on Pop Sugar. I am as good of person as her, albeit not as famous.
44So Strong? She cut herself, wanted someone to kill her (because she wanted to die) and self loathed for YEARS. She's still not strong enough to even talk to her own father even though he's said many times he would love to see her and her children. She gets on a plane and has some lunch with troops, BIG DEAL. The last 3 men in her life were with OTHER women when she began to "talk" to them, I think single men just aren't interesting to her, I really think she likes taking someone away from someone else. Why else would it happen so often? She has nannies that take care of her kids and cook and every single thing else. I'll give credit where credit is due. Yes she makes movies...Yes she goes a couple of times out of the country......all of this doesnt make her a strong woman nor does it make her stronger than me. I would NEVER cut myself or want to die, I think that's about as weak as you can get.
45Pink, you shouldnt have to explain yourself. There are some that like her and some that don't. People need to get over it.
46every one of her moves is calculated and she knows how to manipulate public opinion of her. where is the coverage of the thousands non-celebrity volunteers who don't just fly in for a day for the cameras. the people that actually do all the hard work on the ground. i'm just so tired of her and trying to be this "saint". And let's be honest - the only reason the UN bestowed her honorary title on her is because of her celebrity, not because of her deep insights.
47thank you xena, and amen myperry
48Xena -there was a time in my life when I was really depressed because of different circumstances, even under pills, all of that I left behind and I feel much stronger now to deal with situations that I would not deal in the past.
You dont even know what are u talking about.
49Thank you myperry, that was kind of what I was trying to convey too, but I think some people missed the point!
