With The Eye to promote and a baby on the way, Jessica Alba has been scoring a lot of magazine covers lately. From dishing on not being girly to opening up about her pregnancy fears we're certainly learning a lot about Alba. Next on the list is the March issue of Marie Claire where she spoke about growing up in a multicultural family and dealing with bullies. Here are highlights:
- On being a role model: "When I was a little girl, I always wanted someone to look up to. I think identity was a big deal to me because I didn't fit in with one certain race. I always wanted someone who looked like me, who was a positive role model."
- On being bullied at school: "I had a lot of haters. They'd unzip my backpack so my books would fall out. They'd tie my shoes together. They'd 'accidentally' spill lunches on me."
- On Hollywood's perception of women:"There's a lot of pressure on women to fulfill certain fantasies. They expect you to be a little bit of a tart, to flirt with all the men. A lot of women do it. But I'm not doing that. I talk with these guys about their wives and kids right away. When they say inappropriate things, I let them, because boys will be boys, but I'm not looking to participate in their conversations."
Though her recent interviews have seemed a little attention grabbing, it sounds like Jessica is still carrying some hurtful childhood memories with her. Hopefully focusing on her own growing family will help her move on and stay grounded in Hollywood.

How many times do we need to hear that this chick has issues with her ethnicity/childhood/family, and doesn't ever use her sexuality, etc.
Can't she just focus on learning that spanish for her unborn child? That should tie her up for, oh, another 5 months, and then after that the baby should tie her up for the first couple months...so if we're lucky, we might get a whole year of low-key ALba coverage. Yay.
1This article was so boring to read when I got the magazine. Either she is the most boring person ever, or the writer was horrible. I am thinking the former rather then the latter, if you know what I mean. She sucks.
2next
3This is like ever single other interview she has done she's so boring!!!
4
Gawd, she's sooo freaking annoying! Go Away! No one cares!
5I wish she read this site. She really needs to not do any more interviews until after her baby's born. Seriously. And this is coming from someone who does not hate her.
6zzzzz....
7She is always saying the same things over and over, l don't dislike her, but it's too much...
8Maybe the kids were mean to her b/c she was just as annoying back then as she is today...
9This is such BS. She is such a liar.
10Maybe she thinks no one notices...
11Also, just as a side note is anyone else tired of her talking about how "fat" she is? You're not fat, your PREGNANT. And if that is your biggest fear about being pregnant you should consider yourself lucky. ugh she is so annoying
12Poor her on being bullied at school!
Nobody would mess around with me in high school!
13i'm going to step out on the ledge and just say it, she should not have had a child, especially a mixed race child, until she was secure in who she is, as far as race and ethnicity. how can she provide her child with a sense of self or racial identity, when she doesn't have it. she needs to get it together-fast.
14Haha, apparently she still does have a lot of haters.
15she should really look into therapy. she keeps saying the same things over and over again. i went to therapy for some childhood issues that i carried around with me and it worked for a little bit as i became more aware of how the past would affect my present actions. maybe she should invest in that, she's got the money.
but yeah, she should stop being so negative about everything and stop saying the same things, then maybe people will say different and nicer things about her. what goes around, comes around.
16also, what puzzles me is that when you read her interview, she wants the baby to speak spanish for the first two years of his/her life, wants the baby to be brown, but she never says anything about "i wish for a healthy beautiful baby." i think most mothers would want a healthy baby because that is the best kind of baby to have. her priorities seem a little bizarre. on that note, look at marcia cross! she's SO cute
17She might not be the most entertaining celebrity around (no drugs, men, party scandals) but she seems to be sweet and down-to-earth to me. I love her for this... for being "normal" that is
18Why does this girl think your race makes you who you "are"? Sure it's good to identify and be proud but it's not the most important thing. Not liking her so much right now...
19I don't like the fact that she ALWAYS talks about how she's not a flirtatous sex object in movies but its like, everyone would forget about it if only she'd stop talking about it! I agree with whoever suggested some kind of therapy if only to talk about these things in another forum than public magazines
20Her family is obviously ver race obsessed because she brings up her race in every issue.
I think it's really sad. My God, get over it already, everyone has issues with fitting in for various reason, and honestly, being mixed, though it comes with it's own issues, is no more tragic than anything else anyone else is dealing.
Some of me thinks it's her way of further distancing herself from a group she might not identify with but resmembles physically.
Her parents must have had race issues deep.
21bleh.
22I can't stand this girl. She really needs to get over her condescending self.
23
24jessica alba bores me
25its like common stop talking about your sad bullied childhood & how your not pretty and talk about something real
i wish she would just be quiet. she was never a nerd. she was always just eye candy and was never ugly. she isn't talented, she is just meant to be looked at. and she can't even do that right because every time the cameras are on her, she has to pout and get mad. i wish she would just disappear
26She just doesn't seem like a very happy person. I hope she can get a more positive outlook before her child comes into the world.
27"I didn't fit in one certain race"....DANG, how EXACTLY do you want to fit your role model?! She's so lame.
28Aww why is everyone hating on Jessica? At least she seems like a down-to-earth person. It does sound like she has a bit of a chip on her shoulder though. She probably has a big dose of self-esteem issues, kinda just like the rest of us! I do wish she'd stop going on about how she's not a "tart". Maybe so, but most of her past movies play on her good looks (ie that movie she did with Paul Walker ring a bell??). If she really wants us to take her seriously, she should think more seriously about her roles. But overall she's a cutie and so will be her baby!
29She sucks. There was that whole thing she did with saying how she is NOT latina, and then went on a latina magazine cover? shes sooo annoying.
30Isn't this girl like ...half mexican? What is so rare about that? Especially in California... Where does all this talk about race come from...? She just looks like an average chick. Get over yourself Jessica, you're nothing beyond the usual.
31Wow, I used to like her until I found out that all she talked about was herself. And it's not even interesting profound things... Hmmm, seems like she didn't learn much in school from all that bullying.
32I still love ya baby. Come away with me and let me take you away from all this... ;D
33wow, she really needs to shut up. Never really been a fan of her, but damn she talks about the same thing over and over again in every bloody interview...shut up and get a grip...sheesh!
34@LArceNY, hahahahahahaha.
35How can you dislike someone if you don't personally know them. It's different if they commit a crime like murder or rape. No one is holing a gun to any of your heads and forcing to read her interviews but yet the same people keep doing it. I just think some of you use Jessica as a scapegoat. Saying bad things about her to make yourself feel better is just wrong.
36GAWD!! Why is she still on magazine covers? SHE IS SOOO DANG ANNOYING!
37ugh! I'm getting so fed up of her and her up-coming "brown" baby........yes, yes, she said she can't wait to have a "brown" baby in the last issue of Latina Magazine. I can't see myself watching another freaking movie of hers in my life!
38Good grief. Does she ever stop? Blabbity, blah, blah.
39She seems really immature to be having a baby.
40Re88 - On the same note, how is it that you can LIKE someone you don't know?
41...and they should continue hating her, because shes the most annoying thing ever. go away jessica alba. please.
42I feel like she has the same responses in every interview no matter what the questions are.
OKAY... we get that you "didnt ever fit in" whaa whaa.
Does she not know how many people in the world are of mixed backgrounds? TONS.
STFU already.
"Jessica Alba Had A Lot Of Haters....." and she still does.
43Somebody should tie her lips together, because everything she says is just stupid. I read the whole brown baby comment too. How about wanting your baby to be healthy when it's born?
44i wish selena was alive.
45i've always liked her but i think i'm experiencing jessica alba overload. don't people get understand the idea of oversaturation? does she really need to be on *every* magazine cover?
46When I read she wanted a brown baby.. I was like wtf.. I can't stand her..
all she talks
about is herself ... I believe she is mexican /white..what is the big deal with that..
47I really really hate the saying "boys will be boys." It's just an excuse to be continually assholish and not learn anything about respect.
48she is always saying the same thing over and over. and perhaps people didn't like her when she was a kid was because of her negative attitude.
anyways, i find it odd that she wants a "brown baby" who "speaks only spanish' and is a "nerd," considering she is always complaining about those aspects of her life.
49Sick. Of. Her. Her fame is way out of proportion to her accomplishments.
