It's good to start the kids early. I bet Maddox will really rip it up someday if he ever stays in one place long enough. I would be quite intimidated as an instructor!

so true. Going to IRAQ is a little more dangerous than skiing if she is in her first trimester.

I lived in Portland OR and we used to go to Mt. Hood all the time. There were kids younger than Maddox that were fantastic on snow boards. It's pretty common in that section of the country for the snow boarding to start young. Believe me, the instructors wouldn't be intimidated by Maddox. (not the ones I saw at Mt. Hood anyway) They have some extremely talented people (who've been doing this since they were kids) and it's amazing how good they are.

Mammoth is in Central Cali. very beautiful town. Skiing there is the best in Cali.

Mammoth is in central California, in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains, about a 5 hour drive from LA. It is THE location for people in LA to go for snow sports, Big Bear and Mt. High have nothing on it. It is a HUGE (hence the name) amazing ski resort. People in northern Cali don't go there too often as it is a long drive to get to around the mountains and there are easier resorts to access in Tahoe. Maddox is not too young to try snowboarding. I am a snowboard instructor in Tahoe and have taught four year olds before, and some of them are quite good, though we don't recommend that kids start till they are 6. But kids can start skiing at 2 or 3, as it is quite easy!! What a cute family vacation. I love the Jolie-Pitts.

Oh yes I see what you mean. If I were an instructor it would be tough with the parents there watching every move. That would be very intimidating, especially a parent like Angie.

You know RE88, I, too, am tired of the same comments from the same people here on POP... so lately I do save my own comments for one of the many sites that call this pair of posers out on an almost daily basis. But I am going to stop lurking here long enough today to take you up on your invitation to comment on YOUR comment. At least that part about other people's weirdness. IMHO, the loons on JJ who write fanfic's are more weird than ANY comment that has EVER been posted on Pop BY anybody. In fact, the colossal pair of posers known as brangelina probably set some kind of standard for weirdness--and their fans are known for just that. Weirdness. And of course, lunacy. Could be that's WHY they're called brangelunatics webwide. Just saying.

I'm sorry, but I would like to understand the root of the loathing for Brad and Angelina that sometimes leads people who don't like them to call people who do like them names. I'm not trying to attack you personally, I'm curious about this phenomenon in general. Isn't it enough to just disagree about one's preferences, without making into a personal issue with name-calling?

I don't really go on other gossip sites, so I can't say whether Brad and Angelina fans really are any weirder than fans of other celebrities--and I'd be careful throwing around words like "weird" and "lunacy"--but on PopSugar it's certainly not the case.

Perhaps that's because PopSugar is well-moderated and has a nice calm, reasonable, and rational readership, which accounts for the general lack of wackiness--which is a good reflection on us here

The where's Shiloh? questions are stupid. The same people who are "so concerned" about her would be the first to say what a terrible mother Angelina is for putting Shiloh in danger because of the skiers and snowboarders. I'm assuming they were skiing for the long weekend, 3 or 4 days. So a few pictures taken on one day does not show how involved Shiloh was. Maybe she was with them but went back to the lodge for a nap, maybe they thought it was safer and easier for her to only play at the lodge, maybe she's sick. Nobody knows so saying they hate Shiloh is really tacky and pathetic.

That said, and since you asked...
IMO, loathing really IS far too strong a word to throw around when it comes to a pair of tabloid celebrities. So can we just calmly say I have reasonably high standards and brangelina easily failed to qualify? Pitt and Jolie (& yes, just as often their fans now) seem to provide a regular source of amusement, even well outside the lighthearted world of celebrity gossip. Brangelunatics? I didn't coin the term. I do 'get' why someone who must have seen the "lunacy" did, though. Just as I also 'get' why they are compared to Michael Jackson fans.

Maybe you should read and travel more if you're really sincere about your desire to fully understand the phenomenon? (And BTW, I'm not attacking you personally either. Really.)

Let's say that I misunderstood you. I felt a lot of loathing emanating from your post, and some of your phrasing sounded to me as if you were personally calling Brangelina fans "weird" and "lunatics," but I suppose I was mistaken.

I don't think, however, that I need "read and travel more" to understand the phenomenon of anti-Brangelina (and anti-Jennifer Aniston) partisans attacking each other personally over their preferences. I posted my curiosity on this forum because this is a forum appropriate to that.

My whole curiosity stems from this: on this site, most of us can generally say "I don't like Lindsay Lohan," "I don't like Paris Hilton," "I don't like [insert celeb you don't like here]" without then going on to attack people who do like said celeb. But in pretty much every Brangelina post, there will be at least one person who can't just state their own opinion, but then has to go and name-call anyone with an opposing opinion. I find that interesting. That was the sole point of my post.

Don't you find it curious that they should engender such strong feelings when others don't?
