Last night I was SO excited to watch American Idol kick off with the top 12 men. I was mostly expecting to be wowed by the many guys we had never even heard of. Too bad the show was a snoozefest — cruise ship singing for sure. Thankfully, there were a few excellent performances including my favorites the oldest and youngest — David Archuleta and Michael Johns. Did anyone else think Ryan might have been flirting with the way too innocent and adorable David? Sadly the early favorites usually don't make it to the finals. The only other performance worth noting was dreadlock wearing Jason Castro who loves the whole stoned daydreaming thing. It was great to finally see him on stage and looks like he'll bring something different to the table. 1I made some joke to my husband, as Paula was gushing over David Archuleta, about cougars and, because he was talking to the kids he didn't hear it for a minute and he asked me to repeat it. I did--just as Ryan came out and started talking to David. My husband looked at me and asked, "Is Ryan old enough to be considered a cougar?" He definitely came off as flirting.

9The three pics you have up on this post, are the top three performers last night! I actually voted for Michael Johns and David Archuletta. I thought that David has a wonderful voice, but Michael gave me wicked goose bumps. Oh and what the hell was up with Paula last night? My hubby thought she had been drinking, or was on some other substance.
10I was loving David also! He was so kid like in his talking voice but once he started singing I was blown away!
We were all making fun of Paula cause she clearly went from normal to insane in 1 commercial break. That whole color conversation had me rolling.

I watched AI since Season 4 so I don't know much about the other seasons,but
he has to be one of the cutest contestants ever on this show ..

17I didn't see all of the performances because the ones that started out horribly, I just fast forwarded my way through. (How did I live before DVR?!?!) Anyway, I really enjoyed Jason Castro's performance. He modernized the song and "made it his own." And I didn't recognize him from Cheyenne, but I thought he looked familiar (so thanks, Shells.)

22I may not be popular but I loved Danny, for no reason other than the train-wreck entertainment factor. I hope he's the Kevin Covais of this season.
23I liked those three. The others were mediocre or chose bad songs. Last night was the first night I watched because I was tired of suffering through all the awful wanna bes. My favorite was Michael Johns but his name is forgetable, someone with two first names.
24David Archuletta has got to be the cutest kid ever! He is a total doll! I'm totally in love with him--and he is very talented as well!
25I used to always watch AI. But, I am just so sick of it. It's so played out already so I haven't watched it all season. Maybe, and that is a big maybe I will watch when it gets weeded down to the top 10.
26Last night was a huge disappointment, for sure. I have to admit that I have developed quite the schoolgirl crush on David Archuletta. He's too adorable.

30i love my Tivo...i get to fast forward through all of Ryan Seacrest! I love David Archuleta...he makes me want to hug him for some reason. I also like Michael Johns, wait, I like his accent and his Bohemian Rhapsody performance but I'm not so sold on him. I also think the guy with the dreads has the prettiest eyes.
31Jason and Michael are my favorites! I hope one of them wins.
