We are so excited that the Beckhams are moving to the states! Well, us and everybody else! David said the decision was a difficult one, and he even called up his good friend Tom Cruise for advice. Tom evidently told him that LA was a pretty cool place and filled him in on what to be prepared for when he gets over here. One of the biggest reasons he decided to join LA Galaxy was to make a difference with young children. We're sure the cool $250 mil doesn't hurt either! Here's more:

  • He said: "It was a difficult decision but not a hard one to make. I have played in top-flight football for 15 years with two of the biggest clubs in the world, so stepping away from that was difficult.
  • "Soccer has grown a lot but this is one of the reasons I want to take this challenge up - I want to take it to another level.
  • "Soccer is played by so many youngsters up to a certain age and hopefully I can a make a difference to the young kids, who play and then go on to other areas.
  • "One of my biggest passions is working with kids - I love it, that's the reason I started my academies, to see how happy we can make them. It's one of the differences I want to make and there is huge potential for that."

We can't wait to see what kind of changes happen once he gets here. Ticket sales for the LA Galaxy are already selling like crazy. If anything you'll probably see quite a few more soccer moms out at the games!
