Angelina and Brad have settled on a new place to prepare their kids' cereal (in case you missed that jubilant display of personality on last night's red carpet, click here)--the Big Easy. That's right, Mr. and Mrs. Smith themselves are settling down in New Orleans and enrolling the kiddies (well, Maddox at least) in school there. Us Weekly reports:
While Pitt works (he’s filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button locally), sources say Jolie, 31, plans on being a low-key mom in the $3.5 million, six-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath mansion the pair recently purchased (their fourth house) in the French Quarter.
“She’s interested in befriending normal moms so she can do things with the kids,” says a Jolie source.
And who can forget their humanitarian efforts? “Angelina has asked for places she can do charity work,” says the source, who adds that Jolie had inquired about a school for disadvantaged youth. And construction is set to start this month on the 20 environment-friendly homes Pitt, 43, jointly commissioned with Global Green USA.
The couple also hope to raise awareness for the region, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Says the source, “They think it is important to be there right now.”
Well, at least they will keep the local paparazzi population (right) employed...in the bushes outside this new mansion. Well, for the ten minutes they actual live in NO.

6Angelina will never be a normal mom in the sense of the word as I know it. Mansions, 24 hour security, cooks, maids, continent hopping in the blink of an eye...that doesn't paint the picture of "normal" to me.
It's nice that she wants to mesh with the locals but I don't know how realistic a dream that may be.

10I'm glad they're investing in New Orleans. The city is fantastic and still needs LOTS of money, revenue, etc., to get it back in the state it was before Katrina.

12& of course they have 24 security. they HAVE to have it. They would be constantly mobbed by everyone if they didn't. Some photog tried to scale the fence at Mad's pre-school to get a pic of him. Can you imagine what some over-zelous pap would do if they didn't have security?
Maybe they can let some homeless people live in their other 3 houses while they live in the NO house. You know Angelina's going to do some voodoo in the big easy and get more ugly tats.

I know a few people who are from there, and some who still live there, and according to them the Pitt's aren't hounded, and the people are even protective of them. They've been down there off and on for months now and the locals knew, but the rest of the world really had no idea.

New Orleans is a good fit for them..lots of culture, a good mix of people, charity work they can both concentrate on..and his movies, hers/his charity and their mere presence down there will result in more jobs and greater attention to the area. Plus the attitude in those parts will give them a little more normal of an exsistance.

This is terrific that they are moving to New Orleans and trying to give their kids as normal of a life as they can. There is a lot of diversity there-- cultural, economic & racial, which seems like things they value and would want to expose their children to.
They accept that cameras will follow them wherever they go, so they choose to use that media to shed light on issues they feel are important, like earthquake zones and New Orleans. That's more interesting than watching someone help Britney stumble between bars.
48Wow, I saw both interviews and it stirs several different feelings in me. I used to love Angie and then she cheated, blah, blah, blah, I didn't like her so much after that.
49But I have a few comments to make about both interviews. She reminds me of "me" when my husband and I go out to social "things". I somehow feel that a lot of the "hoopla" B*ullsh*t is just "beneath me". I tolerate social activities for my husband. I have had a lot of tradgedy in my life and see the deeper things worth spending my time as in charities, having a ministry, so on and so on. This could be exactly where Angie is in her life. If people like Ryan Seacrest get in my face,which is really cheesy, I would react the exact same way she did. This is how I act a lot of times if I am out with people I don't respect or care about. I'm SURE , for whatever reasons, good , bad , right, wrong.....Angie feels the same way. I can see her facial and body expressions, and she is uncomfortable(covered up by looking arrogant). She probably feels after seeing the tradgedy of children around the world, this is all just a joke. I can TOTALLY see that. I feel the same way. Do I watch movies? Of course, but do I have to hob-nob with those that ask me self centered, "stupid" questions...no!
Brad was acting a lot like my husband acts. He's trying to please Angelina while out at this place, but at the same time, sort of be friendly to those at the party... trying to please everyone. That is what Brad was doing! I know, I live it.
