Brad has hired Jolie to play Mariane Pearl in the film adaptation of the author's memoir. His production company, Plan B will produce the film. Yes this is the same company he started with Jennifer and yes she was originally considered for the potentially Oscar winning role. I'm not even going to go there. People reports:

"The film will focus on the deep collaboration between people around the world in search of Daniel in 2002," Pitt tells PEOPLE. "We hope the film can increase understanding between people of all faiths and portray the story and the people involved as honestly as possible without anger or judgment."
The film will be adapted from Pearl's memoir, A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl, which chronicles her experience after her husband was abducted by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in early 2002. A month later, his captors released a video depicting his murder.

WHOA!!!!!
1i guess i shud ellaborate on the Whoa...
2it was a good whoa b/c the movie seems interesting and real real good...also a "damn" whoa...cuz jennifer gotta be juss alil pissed about that one
This should be a very good film as Marianne Pearl is a very interesting lady and her book was very good. I'm afraid though the whole Brad/Angie involvement will overshadow Marianne and Daniel's story though.
3oops on the double 'though' lol!
4didn't she turn it down? because i distinctly remember a post from earlier this year about plan B maintaining a professional relationship with JA.
anyway, marianne and AJ are buds. Marianne is now doing a regular column for Glamour magazine BTW. I love her. She wrote about her mom's death and the similarities in their lives (her father was bipolar and committed suicide, leaving her mom two kids to raise alone; her husband was killed while she was pregnant, leaving her to raise a kid alone). she's an excellent writer and also a vocal activist, so AJ seems fitting. though someone of indistinguishable ethnicity (marianne is 1/4 black-cuban and 1/4 chinese) may have been more fitting if they are including her own family history.
frankly, i don't think this is an oscar winning movie. i would love it, but i don't think it'll have mainstream success. critics and the academy may love it though, so you're right, it could be oscar-worthy.
5Ooo I'll definitely be seeing this movie.
6kidcrazy, brad isn't the sole owner of plan B and i don't think he'll be directing it. i disagree. maybe if it were made and released last year. this movie seems more sundance than blockbuster, which is really a compliment. i don't think people will be standing in line for days star wars style to buy tickets. it probably won't make loads of money which i know isn't their point in making it. maybe it's just me and my adoration for Mrs. Pearl, but i think people will see it because of her and her story, not because of Brad and Angelina. I adore Angelina so it's not an insult to her at all. Maybe I was just very into Marianne's story. Very raw and heart-wrenching, but she's one tough lady.
7wow, this seems very low. Is this worse than cheating in hollywood world?
8my 'rents are so smart, they keep the business and the money in the family! LOL
9ladykt, if you still want to beat the already dead horse, i suggest you see a therapist.
10It's not too cool in my mind to do this, but hey it's hollywood, he cheated on Jennifer with AJ anyway, he may as well give the role to her, there should be no hard feelings about this.
11I don't think Jennifer could have pulled off the role as well anyway.
AJ has more of a mysterious way about her which would be better emulated as Marianne. Just my idea though, what do I know ha ha ha!
if JA states that her marriage didn't end because of infidelity and she moves on, why can't all of you?
12focus on marianne. geesh. if this movie becomes about brad and angelina, it's because people make it about them. i think this is going to be an awesome movie.
13it mite be a good movie...but most people that go see it are gonna be heavily ifluenced cuz of the sitz...at least ppl will learn a thing a two
14I agree EP...all that matters is M Pearl's story is being told...Angie is a better fit, anyway. Jen has moved on, why can't everyone else??
15Sounds like a very interesting story, one that should be told with dignity and grace, and not the circus that will inevitably surround it, being associated with the Jolie and the Pitt.
16One more slap in the face for old times sake!!!!!!!!!!
17Oh Come ON! We all know Jen Aniston is a mediocre actor at best. Angelina could kick her ass when it comes to acting as well as other things. Yeah, he cheated on her or whatever. Who f*cking marries Brad Pitt anyway??
18But all that being said, the movie sounds interesting. and now i want to of course read the book first which will obviously make the movie just meh.
Who gives a flying fig about Jennifer, ugh enough of her already. If Angie was already considered for the role then so be it. I think she'll do a great job.
19I'll read the book. Maybe I would have considered seeing the movie if Angelina Jolie wasn't in it. She just doesn't seem like the right fit for the role.
20I don't think the role should be cast on whoever Brad Pitt's with at the time, but on who would be right for the role.
21Pass!
22I wonder who they'll cast as Daniel Pearl? I can't wait to see this. Marianne Pearl is simply amazing... her strength following the tragic death of her husband was unbelievable. I was meaning to purchase her book and never got around to it and eventually forgot it was on my list of books to read! If Angelina starring in this will draw more attention to the Pearls then I say that is a good thing, much like the refugee situation and every other cause she involves herself in.
23im movin on!
24I loved the book and hope the movie is half as good. Marianne Pearl must feel honored to have the most beautiful woman in the world portraying her in a movie. Good to know Brad can hand Angie work, so she won't have to worry about parts too. I can already see the paps breaking their necks to get on set to see BAMZS+one.
25arabella, good question. i can't even think of someone who'd be really fitting, but if i had to pick, i'd go with someone intelligent like edward norton.
i should read the book actually before the movie comes out. i feel like i know Marianne from all the articles a few years ago. my heart broke for her and i can't imagine how someone gets through something so terrible.
26p.s.: those little boys are the cutest.
27EP, Edward Norton is intelligent? I've never heard this before. I'm kind of thinking Jake Gyllenhaal could play this if they made him look a little older. He could pull off the look, plus he's Jewish just like Daniel was.
28I agree with anooshka.. Jen is really mediocre... I reaaaaaly tried to like her... but god.. she is such a horrible actor... she should just stick to TV... I would honeslty rather watch grass grow then watch her on the big screen... Sorry Ya'll I am 100% Team Joli when it comes to acting...
29cali, edward norton is a Yale alum without his daddy being rich a la Bush. I'm over Jake. He should go away for a few months and then I'll like him. I wouldn't ever have a 20-something actor play Daniel Pearl. Frankly, there aren't that many talented 20-something actors and even fewer who can pull off the inquisitive journalist. Perhaps Johnny Depp because he does everything fabulously, but not sure. I still think Edward Norton. So he dated Courtney Love? He redeemed himself by immediately dating Salma Hayek right after.
30EP, Johnny Depp would work too, but him and Angelina in a movie would not be taken seriously because all the media would be concerned with is how hot they are. Good to know about Ed Norton, now i see him in a new light.
31cali, yeah. a low-profile but experienced actor should play the role, someone who's really talented but not hollywood and not the "bankable" movie star - people who are put in movies simply because people will go regardless of it's quality (johnny depp, tom hanks, tom cruise, julia roberts). i'm thinking an indie actor. i just can't think of one who'd be perfect.
oh well. i'm sure the production company has a great casting director. i wonder who will direct.
32hmmm,,, RANDOM... I think that there is only one person in the world that i would just go to their movie b/c thay are in it... and that is Britney Spears...YUP! YUP! YUP! thats it though...
33I just read that Jennifer was never cast as the lead role in that film. And besides Jenn is still a partner in the production company so she had to say yes to it.
34To me, this is just more Brad and Angelina hypocrisy. They claim to be oh so focused on third world issues, and they cast a woman who couldn't be whiter to play a woman of color. Are there no actresses of color? Hello! And the same people who blame Jennifer Anison for causing her husband to cheat with his co-star aren't saying a peep about the choice of this couple that doesn't have to work, choosing to get immediately back to work after bringing the third child into their lives in the year and a half they've been together - that we know about. They have three children under five. What is the rush to get back to work? Quite a double standard here.
35oh for real cine-lover? wonder what's gonna happen...
36Oh, I left out that these people blame Jennifer Aniston for causing her husband to leave because she wouldn't have babies and was career focused. (Never mind that Brad was the one always on location.) Now he has three babies, and he and his baby mama are off to film another movie. Ah well, they can pay those nanny bills...
37Jen is not a partner in the production company. Brad got the production company in the divorce.
38ya know, i think it's pretty natural for him to hire her...she's a good actress and who cares if it's a perk of having a kid with him? if she deserves the part, she should have it. i'll bet if anyone asks jennifer about it, which the media probably will, she'll say she's fine with it, too. i agree with all those in favor of the media moving on the way the couples have. they're done lamenting, so we should be, too. o.k. phew...got that off my chest.
39How about Eric Bana?????
40personally im tired of brad and angelina.....
41Im not finding the details that interesting.
42good points omg.
EP, good luck getting everyone to get over the the BP-JA breakup!
43Another slap in the face for jen. Poor thing he is just humiliating her again and again!
44Since Girl Interrupted, Angie hasn't done anything that qualifies as decent. She needed something to make her look like a serious actress again.
45I think it's great that they are involved because it's a story that they care about and they can bring more attention to it than if it were all indie. (Although I love indie films!)
I read that Michael Winterbottom might direct, so maybe the attention of such a high profile project will get more people to go see his current film in theaters, Road to Guantanamo.
46It is just a shame that we all look via microscopic curiosity of what Brad & Jen do to each other all the time! And even more shameful that Jen & Angelina are seen like two little kittens who actually get their movie parts from the mighty Brad Pitt, and not seen as two independent women who actually live their lives with our without Brad. I find that a little sad.
Coming back to Daniel Pearl, it is written in many articles that it was Jen Aniston who actually persuaded Daniel Pearl's wife to sell the movie rights to Plan B, and succeeded. So I'd say Jen got Angelina the part in a way. I really don't know anything about if Jen was planned to star in this movie but I know for sure that she persuaded Mrs. Pearl in the good old times to sell the rights. Now Plan B is owned by Brad so he can hire and fire as he pleases, right?
47All I can say is 'OUCH!' That was a pretty low-blow, even for Brad. I agree with omg about double standards. If Brad was so desparate to have children, why isn't HE taking some time off to spend with his kids, it's not like they need the money! I read an interview of AJ not long ago, done when she was still pregnant and in Namibia, she specifically said that she was hoping to quit acting, live away from LA & focus of her charity work. WTF happened to that? I'm just so sick of all the BS, it seems like every week there's a new story. I don't want to dislike Brangelina, but they're making it pretty damn hard not to!
48The movie sounds excellent but I just can't picture AJ portraying Marianne Pearl. I can't picture her doing anything but Girl Interrupted and action movies...bad girl characters.
49i think this will be a good movie, well im hoping it will be. the story is heart wrenching and i hope that the acting is what is looked at here as well as the story. i think the role will go to who will be better for it. atleast out of the two. i doubt it was meant as a slap in the face. i like ja in the good girl, but who knows if she could pull off this role. who knows if aj could. all i know is that i am hoping it gets recognized for what it is and not who is involved. a piece like this needs attention for the right reasons not anything else. ep i couldnt have said anything better than you so good posts!
