Leo Says Scorsese Needs an Oscar - Now!
Leo may have danced the night away after the Golden Globes but now he's back to business while promoting The Departed in Japan. The double nominated actor didn't win a globe but at a press conference in Tokyo he seemed more concerned about Martin Scorsese. The director of films like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull has yet to receive an Oscar for any of his work. Leo, like many, thinks that The Departed should change all that. Here's more:
"It would be wonderful if this film was rewarded, I think it very much deserves it," said DiCaprio, who stars in the crime thriller.
"And I certainly think the man to my left does. It's quite long overdue, almost a practical joke at this point that that hasn't happened," he said, referring to Scorsese who was also attending a news conference ahead of the film's opening in Japan this weekend.
Well if the Golden Globes are any indication of the Oscars, Martin might be getting that statue this time around. We agree with Leo - he definitely deserves it! For more yummy pics of Leo just read more

8erm. I don't think the departed was really oscar material - it was cool sure, but director or otherwise, I wouldn't really agree with this one winning the golden statue. Unless they gave it to Alec Baldwin. He was PRICELESS and actual deserves some sort of nobel medal for this (peace? economics? give him both). lol.
9The Departed deserves the award for Best Picture, Director, Actor for Leo, Supporting for Jack or Mark and Adapted Screenplay. I loved this movie and I usually hate gangster films.
10scorsese is a true master. i also hope leo gets an oscar (maybe not this year, though -- i love forest whitaker) sooner rather than later. i realized the other day that both leo and kate winslet have been nominated for several oscars since 'titanic' (twice for him, three times for her!) and haven't won. plus, kathy bates (also in the flick) was nominated for 'about schmidt' in '02 and lost out. i hope there isn't some kind of titanic curse!

14I don't think OSCARs should be given to directors that make remakes.....the departed is the US version of a Hong Kong movie. JMHO.
