Clinton '08? After months (years, really) of speculation, Hillary Clinton officially announced on her website that she will form an exploratory committee to run for president. "I'm in. And I'm in to win," she announced. Political allegiances aside, it's thrilling to see a woman throw her hat into the race.

Hillary has a long, hard road ahead of her, but at least she's got a ton of first hand experience on presidential races. And really, wouldn't Bill just look great as America's first First Man?

1omg this is very exciting news! i think she has a really great chance of winning, and i agree... even if your political views are different, if she wins, it would make history
2It's actually, First Gentleman.
3Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4she's my senator, yay! it is thrilling, although she's not the first. but elizabeth dole and carol moseley braun and geraldine ferraro never had a legitimate shot. winning a presidency is never easy, but she's up against a hell of a double standard. during her senate reelection campaign this year, her opponent made disparaging remarks about her looks (saying, for example, "i don't know why bill married her" in reference to her face). c'mon, most of our male politicians (or people!) look nothing like brad pitt or george clooney or will smith, so they shouldn't talk. if she loses the nomination or presidency, i just hope it has nothing to do with outdated gender roles and more to do with substance! rant over.
5I'm really into politics, and I'm all for a woman president, but I'm SO not a Hilary fan. Its just a personal preference, but most of the polls I've been keeping track of say that most people, if Hilary ran, they would vote or the republican or independent party just to vote against her. I'm not even a republican, but I just don't like her way around things. Again, just a personal preference. I'd hoped for a better candidate from the Democrats. I'm all for Obama.

6btw, i got to meet bill once and the man was awesome. you know how they talk about people having "presence"? he has it. it's one of those things where i saw him on TV and didn't get what the big fuss was about, then met him and it all fell into place. he could've been a movie star.
7whoo-hoo!
8Anyone but Hillary please.
9I am not sure she will make it that far unless she pairs up with Obama or Edwards or one of the other Democrats.. She may have a better chance at Vice President.
10No chance.
11I am a huge Hillary fan. She's got amazing credentials and is by far the most experienced person in the race. If she were a man (or her husband hadn't had a "scandal"), there'd be no question in anybody's mind that it was a sure thing.
12I really really don't like Hillary, love strong women, but I just really don't like her.
13I've always voted Republican before, but she will probably get my vote this year!
14I LOVE Hillary!!!!
15politically i'm not on her side, but I do think it's cool that a woman is running. that doesn't mean i'll vote for her just cuz she's a woman- but I respect her
16lilren..I'm not sure it is a qualifications thing or necessarily that she is a woman... she is HATED by many republicans(unfortunately some are in my family and I hear about it too much). I mean pure hate.. both for the perceived "corruption" of the Clinton White House and just the fact that she stood by her husband during the whole Lewinsky thing.
I like her personally and as a candidate, but I am thinking that she may have too many personal opinions stamped on her already by stubborn people on both sides of the political fence to make a successful run.. and unfortunately she might ruin the chances of us getting a democrat in office by splitting the vote or taking away the thunder of someone who could really make a difference.
17um. no thanks. I'm all for a woman to win - but not this woman. Sorry.
18I just can't get over her staying with Bill after he publically humiliated her with Monica, seriously, The only reason I can think of her staying with him is that divorcees tend to have problems in politics.
19Oh No! God save us all... if this woman is elected, I'll have to move.
20Michelin..actually you won't. Its amazing what you can learn to tolerate with gritted teeth. Look at the last term and half..Hilary couldn't do any worse.. in fact a trained monkey and a accordian player probably couldn't have done any worse IMO!
21I think Obama and Hillary would be interesting, but that's pretty doubtful. He's been making appearances around Chicago with Jesse Jackson Jr. recently, so I wonder..........
22LOL Imabeliever.
I respect Hillary Clinton, and of course I think it's great that a
woman is running who actually has a chance, but I'd prefer Obama or Edwards.
23Thanks, but if I wanted to live in a socialist country I'd move to Cuba. I don't think she would have any chance if she ran on her ideas alone, but I fear the fanatics who will vote for her solely because she's a woman. The irony is everyone declares her such a "strong woman" - what kind of strong woman sticks by a scumbag who cheats on her their entire marriage and sexually harrases women (isn't that contradictory to what women are supposed to stand for)? She's not strong, she's an egomanical opportunist and Bill is nothing more than a charming snake oil salesman.
24Anyone other than our current pres, is fine by me! I'm all for Hilary to be our First Female President for sure!
"To thine own self be true"
25Wish I could vote in 2008 lol
26ahhhhhh I hate her. I think it would be great to have a woman be President, but ANYONE rather than her.. ahhhhh and Bill too, jeez..ugh
27Although I think the idea of a woman president is outstanding, I am NOT a Hillary fan. Actually, I do not care for her (or her husband) at all. I think our country would be much better off with Rudy.
28I can't wait to get the new president, I love the Clintons but even if Hilary doesn't win I hope it's someone from the Democratic party, I'm sick of the Bush Administration runnning or ruining this country.
29So Mrs Clinton wants to put Bill back in the White House. She better inact a bill to have no women working in the White House as Bill will have LOTS of TIME on his hands. I cant wait to see the Saturday Night Live skit on this. Does she actually think she has a chance? ROFLMAO!!!!!
30Not very exciting... She seems very insincere as a person. I don't like most anything she says about budget and economy. Also, her stance on gun control is ridiculous. Charge the gun manufacturing company for the idiot who misuses it? Blame videogames for school violence? We need to move back toward personal responsibility.
31I hope the Democrats back a different candidate.
Adriana, very well said.
32A woman for president???HELL YES!!
fashionista loves Vale...
33I'm 100% with new2man. A strong woman doesn't stay with someone who would cheat on her.

34lilegwene, I totally agree with what you said, I also fear people will vote for her to avoid voting republican, I know most think anything could be better than what we have now, but seriously you never know. Theres alot better out there than Hillary...
An uninformed voter is as dangerous as a loded gun in the hands of a 2 year old
35I think if she can keep the focus on the issues, she can win. I think that Obama would be a great vice president for her. He will never win on his own, even though he is incredibily intellegent, because he doesn't have that much expiereince. I think that she is very intellegent, AND she has a lot of expierence with international issues and domestic policy. I think both her and Obama are very RATIONAL thinkers, as opposed to the extremists who play on sentiment and catcy phrases that don't mean anything.
36It's pretty clear that Bush has done for the Republicans what K-Fed did for Britney- and even when he's gone, there's no garuntee that the Republicans are gonna do much of a 180 & solve all of America's issues. What I like about the US having a woman president (and lets face it, US politics affect us all, no matter where we live) is that it's a completely fresh perspective & I believe a woman president is far less likely to want to start wars anywhere. To use Britain as an example, 3 of the WORLD'S greatest leaders were undoubtably Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria & Margaret Thatcher-all women. I don't know if Hillary could live up to their standards, but I believe she deserves a chance!

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a female president.I will have to look into this. I don't even really know her.
38
TOO BAD I'M CANADIAN
39A female president yes, but her? There is no way I would vote for her.
40you were right an Obama and Edwards pairing would be amazing.. mix um up any way you want it.. it would be my QUINELLA bet for sure!
41I'd really like to see a woman president but not Hillary. anyone but her please!!!
42New2man, Hilary is practically a republican she's so conservative, so I don't think you'd have to worry about living in a socialist country.
I don't know that she's my favorite in the race - I would prefer obama, edwards, or richardson over her. How exciting that we have an african american, a latin american, and a woman running for the nomination in the same year though. Multiple firsts!!!
43I like Hillary. I think she'd be an okay Pres...anyone is better than the current head idiot in charge. I don't think she will win though.
BTW, as a married woman, I think it DOES take a VERY STRONG woman to stick with a man that has cheated on her--PUBLICLY!!!
44I know that I would NOT be strong enough to handle that sort of humiliation. I say...what works for them is none of my business. I wouldn't feel comfortable judging her political competence based on her decision to stay with her cheatin man. The two have no correlation in my mind. Good for her!!!
No way will she get my vote.
45Live today as if you'd die tomorrow. Learn today as if you'd live forever.
Her dealing with his flaws (cheating) would definently not affect my decision.
46Let's not forget that she is or was the victim in that situation. We ,as a society always find a way to blame or make the woman look bad for a man's cheating ways. Who cares if she stayed, she didn't do it.
This should be very interesting. Female president? Sounds amazing.
47Sweetnsour is on to the truth. I have been married forever. Hubby & I have had our ups and downs, which have not included infidelites and it's still tough sometimes.
We have seen couples around us divorce, for lots of reasons, including adultry, but we've also seen couples stick together after an affair. One of my hubby's best friend's wife cheated on him and lots of people found out. They stuck together and they are much better people for it. That takes incredible commitment and courage. To dismiss all people who make that error, or who stick by partners who do, is very immature. Marriage is so much evolved than that.
I'm not in support of Hilary's run. I think she's too crafty. I do like what she offers as a senator. She was interesting on The View a few weeks ago. But there's alot not to like and she lacks the true passion for people that Bill has. (Certainly Boosh the socipath has no passion or compassion.)
One thing from the celeb and style aspect tha will be fun the nextcouple years is seeing the new eye on DC fashion. Tho it's sexist to examine the clothes of Hilary or Nancy Pelosi just 'cause they are women, for the sake of the fun, why not? I think Hilary looks great; she knows her colors.
48Yay for women, but I won't vote for her. I can't stand her. *Ewwwwww* If I have to hear her voice as often as we hear Bush's by ears will eventually bleed and I will go deaf...
'm all in.
49I would never vote for a woman just because they are a woman, but I'm thrilled to see a woman - any woman - in the race!!
