Well, Paris Hilton finally made it to Africa. She may be overseas because she can't bear to be away from Benji Madden, but she managed to separate from him long enough to fulfill her post-jail promise to help others. It wasn't quite what her original plan was, but it's something. While there, Paris spent time with children at the Jakaranda Kinderhuis School in Pretoria, South Africa, yesterday. It looks like the kids took a liking to Ms. Hilton, but something about these photos seems a bit off. Paris still deserves some credit for putting a smile on the faces of those adorable little ones, but something tells us she's going to feel more comfortable partying backstage at her boyfriend's upcoming Good Charlotte shows.

Would she be there if there wasn't a camera? Hope she's learned something from these kids.
1I hate that I'm gonna say that I actually think she looks, pretty here..I think charity is charity whether its a publicity stunt or not. A good deed is still a good deed even with the paparazzi
2In every pic she is looking at a camera. The one on the right she is half-heartly patting a kid on the back looking at the camera like "okay are you getting this? now where is the purel?"
So pathetically obvious. She could have at least banned cameras but then have a few pics "leak" of her good will
3Brian a good deed is selfless. That what makes it a good deed!
Have you ever seen the Friends Episode where Phoebe is trying to do good deeds without reaping any benefit? Finally she calls in a donation to the telethon Joey is working and her donations gets him on the air but then she feels good about it and still cant do what she set out to do...
4Cute (:
5Gruaig Rua said that when Jesus was on the cross he stipulated that there should be no boozing on Good Friday, no eating meat and no posting about Paris Skank-bag Hilton. Didn't you get the memo?
6Incidentally, how exactly is she helping them? Last time I checked charity involved more than just turning up and using some orphans for a photo op.
7Oh, are they even orphans, or just South African schoolchildren?
8I agree with Braindiesel - if she was able to make some of those litte kid's days, even if its a publicity stunt, then good for her (but if not, then its a shame and a waste). And for once I actually think Paris looks really good and not utterly ridiculous, it's a little refreshing.
9I loved that episode- but the thing was that there is no selfless good deed. Thats why it was funny! I'm not saying its good that Paris does this with the photogs and all, but I mean, there are going to be photographers...shes famous. I just think its a good thing because she is doing it... I still dont like her...but I am not in Africa helping other people, and she is.
10she really looks beautiful in those pics.
11what shes wearing makes her look inoccent... bahahaha!
The kids look happy. Case closed.
12She handed out XEROXED photos of herself and autographed them! Ugh. With all of her connections she couldn't have arranged someone to donate something to the kids, toys, clothes, art supplies.... if she didn't want to spend any of her own millions of dollars?
This is an autograph session. That is all she stopped by to do for the kids. And I don't think most of them look particularly happy about it, more look sort of curious. Paris looks really uncomfortable being around kids at all.
13+She look Gorgeous

14And the kids look happy
So It`s ok in my eyes
Why would someone let her touch their children?
Jaxon, that Friends episode was on last night!
15this is just not genuine!
i feel so strongly about activism and all that and to see someone so fake exploit those children just so that she can seem like an innocent skank just makes me angry.
i detest her. she lives for fame not to genuinely help anyone but her damn self
16Good point Ginger. She handed out xeroxed bikini pictures!
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20185634,00.html?xid=pop
That's right kids, you too could grow up to be an Uber-Skank!!
So from what I can gather so far, she stopped by to visit a regular school, sign autographs and pose for some photos. Again... besides Paris, who is this helping exactly? I hung out with some of my little cousins at the weekend. They seemed pretty happy. Am I the next Mother Theresa or does there have to be press there for it to count?
17I know what is off. The fact that she is at an elite prep-school for wealthy south africa children. She might as well spread some charitable goodness stateside at prestigious prep schools like Dalton or Andover
18she does look pretty, on every picture...and about the charity....she did not have to do it, but she chose to, I give her credit for that. Seeing pictures of her in africa with children is still a lot better than seeing her leaving clubds boozed up.
19do these kids actually know who she is? like she prob thinks they read up on her all the time- she's like hey i'm Paris Hilton you all want to meet me i know. whereas i'm pretty sure people like even Angelina Jolie don't go to sign autographs so that the children can say they met her- she actually goes to just try and help
20NO NO NO these kids have NO idea who this nasty woman is.
"Paris is keeping her post-jail promise"
Oh give me a break with that comment. This girl is far past tacky, she is complete trash all the way.
21I'm not even sure if South African culture is into celeb autographs. The notion of someone "famous" signing a piece of paper doesn't have value in every corner of the world.
And she couldn't even spring for a box of real photographs. She gave them photocopies!
I'm not usually one to dis a good deed, or even the effort, but this just seems to be about Paris, not the kids.
22Xeroxed bikini pictures...really Paris? Ugh.
23What kids "look happy"? The girl in the pink looks scared.
The little girl that is hugging her looks bored, like she was asked. And the rest you cant see any of their faces.
This isn't even an orphanage?!?! It's a regular school? WOW! That makes it even worse.
24I don't think you're dissing a good deed Ginger... since when is turning up somewhere to promote yourself a good deed? When Jessica Simpson turns up at Macys to launch her shoes or her wigs or whatever does everyone go "Oh good for here, she's really giving back and helping people?" No. Because self-promotion does not equal charity.
25I dont get the ppl who hate her ... why do you even bother reading storyes about her when you dont like her ?
26(about the "scared" kid , she looks more scared becouse of the paps not paris x.x)
If you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all x_x
1. She is doing more than all of us, at least she is not on some gossip site instead of helping people. I'll have to agree with Briandiesel.
2. She actually looks classy her which is very odd. I like it.
27It's a gossip blog. Saying snarky things about celebs is totally appropriate. If you only want to read nice things, then fansites are the place to go.
28then again yea i have to agree with you Ginger ... but still ppl get too worked about it .
29she is doing more than all of us? visiting a school of children just so that it can seem to everyone she is a freaking nice person..??!??
i've been too many orphanages in this country, and in others..and if there is a hint of happiness in those children its because she is a body there, they get excited when anyone visits them its not because its 'her'. MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS NOT GENUINE. SHE IS LOOKING AT THE F*cking CAMERA LIKE THATS WHY SHE IS THERE.
whatever.
30I also fail to see what Paris is doing here to help anyone other than herself. Couldn't she get her boyfriend to donate a couple boxes of his over-priced hoodies to the kids or something for her to hand out, rather than photocopies of herself?
Just because some of us are on a gossip blog at this moment, doesn't mean we aren't doing more to help others in our daily lives than Paris ever did.
31For some reason i want venison right now.
32Ugly wh*re, she'd do anything for a little publicity.
33How nice. A woman who uses the "N" word visits little black children
34100% FUG and INSINCERE!!!
35A xeroxed copy of herself...what, no champagne in a can?
36champagne in a can
37BURN THE B*TCH!!!! it's not an orphanage, it a school. and from the white kids around, it looks like a good school. those kids look too clean to be orphans. how does stopping by to sign authographs consist of charity. total vomit.
38does anyone need a

43dmpls is that your puppy?
44
here it is
45All of the pictures look so staged and awkward. Definitely just a publicity stunt.
46If only she could stop posing for the camera... I don't think she's all bad, just extremely narcissistic.
47I find it very hard to believe that Paris does anything altruistic. If she was interested in doing something good for humanity, she would just do it and not worry about if cameras are there or how she looks. Who would want her autograph in the first place?
48this is the first time i actually think she looks pretty.
49So... all she did is sign autographs for kids? And it's supposed to seem philanthropic because they're African? Wow, give me a break world media, this is a wad of total crap. If she wanted to appear to be "helping" others she could've actually volunteered somewhere, like a home for AIDS orphans or a sex-education school (HIV/AIDS is still a major problem and concern in S. Africa)- but instead she deigns to allow a few South African kids to be in her presence?
50I can't think about this anymore or I'll just be more angry..
