Jamie Lynn Spears is apparently showing off some bling to go with that growing baby bump. According to People, the 16-year-old future mom is engaged to her 18-year-old boyfriend Casey Aldridge. Ever since we learned of the pregnancy, there have been rumors of rocky roads between the young couple, so this comes as a bit of a shock — but I guess we're used to surprises from Jamie Lynn at this point. While we understand wanting to tie the knot before having their baby, it still seems a bit rushed considering their youth. What do you think — does Jamie Lynn Spears' engagement seem like a good idea?

2Eek! If they're just getting engaged because of the baby, I'd say NO. That's way too young! I like to think our society is progressive enough that we don't think pregnant women HAVE to be married...

5I don't think its necessarily a bad thing, but they should wait til after the baby comes to see if they really want to stay together. I am all for being married and raising children, but at this young age it almost never works. I was engaged at 17, planning my wedding at 18 and then found out I was pregnant about 6 months before our wedding. I told my fiance we could wait but he wanted to push the wedding up so we did. We had another child 2 yrs later and divorced at 21. We were just way to young. I mean, I feel like he was anyway. I was happy and content being a wife and mother, even at 19. But he wasn't done partying. So, we went our separate ways. I know Jamie Lynn has money and they won't have to struggle financially so that is a plus, but emotionally??? I guess we'll see how it all unfolds. I wish her luck though.

9I'm on the fence ... the girl is incredibly young to be engaged, but she's also incredibly young to be having a baby. I honestly think it'd just a way to send a message to all her young fans that she is committed to her baby and her relationship. I think, if they truly want to be married they should have a nice LONG engagement.

34the thing is she's not just a 16 year old, she's a STUPID 16 year old. have you heard her talk? god. i was pretty precocious at 16 but no doubt i would have messed up a baby pretty bad, especially if the model relationship for it was me and my begrudging first boyfriend.

But having said that, I think its a pretty bad idea to get married just because you get pregnant. Hell, maybe they are in love & talked about getting married before they made a baby, but still... Its not something to be rushed into, especially when there is a tiny baby involved

49Having read some of her past comments about motherhood, she doesn't seem to understand the harsh reality of what is coming, so there is no reason to think she is any more in touch with reality over marriage.
Somewhere else it said they were house shopping. (And who is paying for that?) I'm sure she will have tons of fun decorating and playing house.
