The rain didn't stop Prince from putting on a killer halftime show last night at the Super Bowl. We were afraid Prince might melt in the rain but he stayed dry under his do-rag and signature colored suit. He brought back classics such as Let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain. In case you missed his incredible show, or just want to re-watch it (like us) click here to watch the halftime show now. As expected, the event was watched by a huge audience and so far estimated ratings are about the same amount of viewers as last year.

I was very disappointed in his half time show.
1Great pictures...I was too busy enjoying the music I should have stopped more just to watch him. He had the same panache as usual and didn't disappoint!
2I thought it was awful. I didn't enjoy it at all. The best Superbowl halftime show was with Aerosmith, Nelly, Mary J. Blige, N Sync and Britney Spears (and I'm not an N Sync fan) but that show was great!
3Prince killed it for the half-time show! I've always loved him and he completely showed why he is the consummate performer. His guitar solos were amazing and i loved when he covered Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and the Foo Fighters "The Best of you."
Somewhere, Dave Grohl is crying because he can never do the song as well as Prince did it.
Oh and the ending! WOW! How appropriate to end with "Purple Rain" (while its raining of course) and have the entire stadium singing the "ohhh, ohhhh, ohhh" chorus at the end. Amazing! best halftime show i've ever seen!
4Of course he wore his do rag.... had to keep that press and curl from getting wet!
-the ceeg
5i thought he was great. I've always loved prince he can do no wrong in my eyes. he's the only man under the height of 5' that i would have millions of babies with.
6i'm one of those people who actually turns the TV on mute during the halftime show and wait for the football to start again. of course, that means i missed the wardrobe malfunction a few years back...so i think it's a good policy
7Blonde, I loved that Super Bowl Half Time Show as well! It is probably my fave because of the energy. But, I thought Prince had it as well.
8
ahaha, press and curl! haha that was funny!
9Princess was ok. Excuse me, Prince...
10hes so weird
11Nice guitar, weirdo.
12I thought it was strange that Prince did so many covers as opposed to his own songs. He's notorious for not letting anyone cover his music. Just thought that was a little odd.
13I didn't enjoy it, but I'm not a Prince fan either.
14i tell you, it just breaks my heart to see so many non-Prince fans here. (tear dropping...) For real, what was so bad about it?
I actually really hated the Britney/Aerosmith/Nsync halftime show. Ha! just goes to show that no one can please everyone.
15i love prince, i didn't watch the halftime show so i'll have to wait until i get home to see it on youtube.
16I thought he did awesome!!
17Different strokes for different folks, that's all. I just thought it was a little boring.
18I don't like Prince so I didn't enjoy the half time show, but I wonder how they pick the performers. I mean I don't think male football fans are prince fans.
19LOL Starbrite!
20I was surprised that Prince came out in the rain. He has been known to have his primadonna moments and I thought the rain was going to guarantee another one. But he came out put on a good show, although his guitar sounded a bit out of tune, might have been the raindrops or something. But I LOVE Prince, "Baby Im a Star" is my jam!!!
Damn, now I gotta watch Purple Rain when I get home.... ugh.

21\m/(-_O) RAWWWWWWWWWWWK!!
I thought the show was pretty good overall, I did have a few moments when I busted out laughing from how cheesy Prince is sometimes. Was it just me or did the whole playing the guitar behind the sheet thing seem weird? It looked to me like the guitar was supposed to represent something "phallic", but it made me laugh out loud the hardest!!

Cheese It!!
Yeah, um, definatly didn't watch the halftime show.
23I agree with blondesugar, and am not a prince fan anyways. He can play a mean guitar, but he sounded way to michael jacksony last night. Give my aerosmith anyday over prince!

Why don't you wear the face you have when I am not around?
ashleyk- that is exactly what my friends & I said! I love Prince to death, but his show was only ok.
25I'm sorry. I didn't like the halftime show either. The pregame show was a lil strange in my opinion, too. Didn't seem like a show to get you in the mood for football. The game and the commercials were good tho. LOVED the Doritos cashier commercial! Clean up on aisle.... hahahahah
26I am a HUGE Prince fan.. went to the Purple Rain concert. So I loved the half time show! Love that the man was able to play a gutiar in the rain and sing..unlike some lipsync'd performances in the past.
And I thin khe did some covers due tot he fact that since he became super religious he doesn't do a lot of his own older stuff.. or thats what I heard anyway!

World was on fire and no one could save me but you.
IMHO the whole thing was a dissapointment. From the Intro, to the Commercials to the Game to the Half Time Show. I was very bummed out. I think that the whole Boobgate thing made everyone and their dogs to scared to be really creative with the commercials now. It was just blah for me. Not one commercial had me rolling, Booooo. Maybe next year.
28Why is he weird?
Anyway, I loved it, love him, and if I had to choose between him and JT, Nellie and all that other mess, please, Prince wins EVERY time. Prince is the real deal.
29I LOVE THIS MAN........GREAT SHOW...........LOVE HIM, LOVE HIM, LOVE HIM.
30only true fans can appreciate his performance. he has skills......
31Loved it!!!
32I was impressed by his enthusiasm and energetic performance, despite the rain, even though I'm not a huge fan of his.
33Never been a huge Prince fan until last night. LOVED...IT!
34BlondeSugar is totally right, that halftime show ROCKED!!! I freaking loved it. Anyway, I didn't get to see this one with Prince, my honey will be bummed, he loves Prince.
35The pre game was ODD to say the least. When I first turned it on I had no idea it was for the Super Bowl.
36That was one of the best half-time shows ever. He was total professional. He was showing Janet and JT how to do it.
37This was the BEST halftime show in a really long time! He was great, his voice sounded so good, his guitar sounded freakin' AMAZING!
I really hate the halftime shows where they try and get a bunch of people together to do a lame medly. The areosmith ones were horrible (line dancing with britney and nsyc was just awful), as were the Nelly/Kid Rock stuff.
38While I thought it was cool that he actually sang in the rain I just didn't think that most of the football watching guys would be that into Prince. IMO they should have picked a better artist for the people that would be watching the show. Does Prince even like football?
39I need to get myself down to Vegas and catch his show at the Rio! He was fantastic!
40I am not a big Prince fan but... he ROCKED!!! Not only did he put on a fabulous show, he did it in the rain.. I think I just might be a Prince fan after all.
41Prince is not one of my faves but considering the circumstances he put on a hell of a show!!!
He acted like that rain was nothing!!! I was proud of him for not backing out (like he notoriously does) and actually doing the show...
42I thought it was great very over the top with the lights and fireworks. Kind of like him.
43I'm sorry, but Prince is not relevant enough anymore to be the Super Bowl halftime show SOLO headliner - I figured at least they would have added a contempory artist to round out the show. His performance was good, especially considering the horrible weather, but I just didn't get it.
44SaraSmile........just who would you choose as more "relevant?"
Angel J..........I had no idea that "football watching guys" regulated to a certain type of music. This is serious news to me and my seriously eclectic yet football loving family full of boys lol.
45I wanted to hear "Kiss" I love that song.
46I don't mean to insult Prince - I actually like him - but it seems that ever since Janet Jackson the Super Bowl (or CBS or whoever makes those choices) is terrified to take chances. Paul McCartney last year was even sillier. If you are going to choose a classic star like McCartney or Prince it is more entertaining to pair them with someone else, like the Aerosmith/NSync/Britney show.
Problem is, EdwinaTheLovely, I wouldn't know who else to pick. Gwen Stefani? Nelly Furtado? Fergie? I am tired of all of them, but add them to the Prince show and it would have been a lot more fun.
47I Love Prince.
48SaraSmile.....See, Gwen and Nelly would have meant snack time for me
Seriously, I'm
not even sure what Nelly sounds like, and while I do like Gwen, it's more her and not her music that I find interesting. Musical styles are so vast anymore (I saw a guy describe his band as
alternative country?!) and Prince is like the last of the cross genre artists. Rock -n- roll, soul, metal, R&B, funk, pop, a little hiphop-rap here and there. He's got no label other than
he's simply a musican and he just covers a lot of territory and he can dance lol. The crowd seemed quite happy with him.
49prince is the freakin man! i forgot he could play guitar...and it was nice to see someone actually singing and performing..rather than lipsynching and pretending to play to a prerecorded track...
