The American Idols are in DC for their Idol Tour and they stopped off for a quick visit with George Bush. They gave the president gifts including a harmonica, a Soul Patrol T-shirt, and an Ace beanie. Bush said their visit was the highlight of his day. Here's more:
"Before we walked in," Young says, "everyone was asking who voted for him. … A majority (of us) didn't. But when we walked out, every single person said, 'Wow, what a great guy!' It felt like we were just hanging out with him."
Elliott Yamin missed the first part of the visit with the President. About five minutes after it started, he was seen racing down the hall toward the Oval Office, wiping his brow and saying, "Phew!"
"He was sleeping!" Young explains, adding that the Idols – who have been on the "American Idols Live" tour since July 6 – arrived in Washington, D.C., at 5:30 a.m., and that some of them have been having a hard time sleeping on the bus that takes them from city to city.

21In the current state of our world it looks ridiculous for our president to do photo-ops with AI. I get that it probably took a mere 15 minutes out of his day and obviously the prez does a hundred photo ops a week with other politicians, social groups, children etc. I get that. Yes, the world doesn't stop running when these things happen. And maybe it irks me more because it is AI. It would have been ok if it were say, the cast of Pirates. (YES,I AM KIDDING.)
