Reese Witherspoon took a break from hanging out with her own adorable kids to spend some time at a school in New Orleans as part of Idol Gives Back. She read stories, chatted, and posed for photos with the happy kids as part of the special charity episode of American Idol. The episode airs April 9 and will feature other celebs like Bono and Brad Pitt. Last year the event raked in $60 million, and we can't wait to see if Reese and everyone else can do an even better job this year.

21THIS is what celebs SHOULD be doing. Helping kids at home! We have enough needy kids right here in the US. I love this Woman for this and SOOOOOOOOOO many more reasons. She's an absolute gem. And the other thing that occurred to me today, the only "Controversy" that she's ever been at the center of was when she and Ryan split. I think that's why I like her so much. She's private, but not so private that we don't get glimpses of her now and then.

26All I have to say is that I wish she would have gone to a school that is in worse shape than Ben Franklin. That school is actually a really good public school, not technically in New Orleans. There are so many other schools that would have appreciated her visit more.

opinion, but that movie was AMAZING because of her and Joaquin. She WAS June Carter-Cash in that.
30No, I guess the movie was AMAZING because of Joaquin's interpretation. I personally don't like her acting but I've to say that she was a decent singer in it and that's what she did in the movie: sing. Although, her acting skills has never impressed me.

45This is what all people should be doing, not just celebs. It's nice to see when celebs are doing this, as it reminds us that they aren't all selfish and petty.
If she was hading out pictures, I hope to get some....she is beautiful, and gets better with age.
46I'm from New Orleans I do my part more than any celeb. I have gone to schools, tons of them. I helped rebuild right after the hurricane and I still help on the weekends. If I had millions I would give it to my city. I'm not hating on Reese. I think she is a wonderful person. I just feel like the media praises her for doing something that is nice, but I feel like if she really wanted to help out, she would have done more. It was probably set up by her manager and she didn't give two craps about it.
I'm really not trying to be mean when I say this, but you have no idea unless you are from New Orleans.
