Jamie Lynn Spears did some shopping at Babies R Us last week, proudly wearing a t-shirt that said "The Rumors are True" and showing off her shiny new engagement ring. She's been pretty upfront about the details of her pregnancy right from the start, but somehow it still feels a bit strange to see her growing baby bump. What do you think — are you still surprised to see Jamie Lynn pregnant?

My mom was angry with Nickeldeon that they didn't cancel her show Zoey 101.
1ugh so trashy
2that eyeroll is for Jamie-Lyn. I agree with my mom.
3Its still a little strange seeing her pregnant because I know she is only 16. However its not that bad. I am not like shocked or nothing. She seems to be dealing with the situation well. So I am not worried.
4She looks stupid and it's a little too early to be shopping!
5I just think that she is stupid for getting pregnant....which i mean its her fault cuz she didnt use protection like a dumbass......sorry but its ture....its all their fault so im' not surprised at all......
yup i'm just me
6I find it very sad/disturbing to see a 16 year old girl with a baby bump.
7I'm not surprised by anything associated with that redneck family.
8agree with loveangelina
but i guess she confrimed the engagement rumors..well good luck hon!
and i hope the baby have alot of love and support.
9I think it's interesting how everyone has such a stigma about teenage mothers when it is basically common now... I would hope that we, while not embracing this as a good trend, but as the way it is in the world today, support girls who get in this situation and educate, educate, educate. She could have just aborted and been done with it but she chose to keep the baby and I applaud her for keeping it to be honest. She didn't get pregnant on her own nor is it her parents fault.
10oh and to tht girl above its never to early to be shopping......i would shop for the baby as soon as i found out if i was going to keep the baby or not.....sh*t....
yup i'm just me
11lmfao millazbabi, i was to mad shop my daughter cannot watch it anymore
12there are a lot of girls knocked up at 16 by total strangers (violations) or other stupid kids....THIS is to worry about...
NOT over a 16 year old girl who has money and support to raise a child....
13I agree with Brian - brave of her to keep it. I'm 19 and having a baby myself. Yah it's my fault for not being careful.. but still I'm a little shocked when everyone's like "What? You didn't get an abortion??"
14Good Point B. It's just sad to me that Babies are having babies. She's still a child to me.
15you made so much sense out of that brian thanks, and yes educate my daughter still cant watch the show though
16I guess what I don't understand... is why she's already morphing into her sister. No makeup, eyebrows all crazy, hair a mess...
Just because you're preggo doesn't mean you can't look fabulous... even if it is (or especially
because) just a redneck town.
17Unfortunately it happens to younger girls and in the best of families....so what can you do but preach, 'safe sex', 'use birth control', 'abstain'? Nothing is really surprising anymore!
18annalove you keep your head up high i was also a teen mother, and i am a very successful person, make sure education is a priority so that you can give your child the best, and lots of love
19UGH...the Spears girls will ALWAYS keep "message" tees in business...
20I think that getting married at 16 is a huge mistake. Just because she's pregnant doesn't mean she has to compound the whole thing with more ill advised decisions.
21um yea she has set a GREAT example for teenagers these days. Just lovely. Is that pink bag with white polka dots a diaper bag? Is she practicing or what? I dont like her at all. Her baby will be cute and life will seem so peachy as a teenage mother and some tennagers are going to want to be like her. They shouldnt give her ANY publicity at this point.
22Good points from just about everyone so far! I feel like I'd have something to say about her but it seems everyone has already said it. I guess....that I am just glad it didnt happen to me, even tho I wasnt even having sex at that age. But still. I'd be scared.
23it wasn't that surprising when Britney lost her mind but when her sister got pregnant i really got shocked i know that there are a lot of young girls in her age making mistakes but i think this is enough for the Spears family.....no more craziness!!!!!
24Thanks, I appreciate you guys getting my point
25Mostly just sad.
26But I should say I'm sad when I find out my friend my own age (29) are pregnant...it's bad news in my mind. I'm not meant to reproduce.
27I really hate how people call it a baby bump i think its stupid and it makes me mad im pregnant and i dont call it a freakin bump its like calling someone preggers it just sounds trashy
28No, I realize that women's bellies grow when the get pregnant. As usual this world seems to think that celebs are above mormal people and these type of things don't happen to them. I think she did it on purpose.
29I also like Brian's point. And I also agree with CJane. I do not think people should get married just cause they got themselves pregnant. Children do not make a marriage work and if you're together for the baby you're not going to bring your child up in a healthy environment. That being said, if they were planning to get married anyways and they sped up the process by a year or two, well then congratulations and all the power to them!
30never cared
31Never was so surprised to begin with :S
32My little sister used to look up to her, but not anymore. She's embarrassed for ever thinking Jaime Lynn was a good role model for her.
33kvlach sorry i use the term preggers alot now that i know i might have offended you i will TRY not to use that term, i agree rpenner wrong reason to get married only the child will suffer
34Oh yes! She's only a year younger than me so when I was a HUGE Britney fan, I would always look at her sister and think how cool it was that she was my age and experiencing so much with Britney. Heck, I watched Al That for JL and even Zoey 101. It's just so weird when young people have kids because really they are kids themselves. Reminds me of Juno hehe. Anyways, I hope it's not wrong for me to admit that I think she looks so cute
35Wonder what the gender is and hopefully she chooses a nice, decent name
She shouldn't have any reason to be hiding from the public. She's not the first nor the last one. Jamie Lynn is not the only pregnant teenager in America I'm pretty sure there are hundreds of other out there.
36I forgot to mention: NICE FREAKING RING!!
37So, we are all shocked that she is having a baby but what when she gets married?? woah..
who cares?!?!?!!!!!
38nah - i'm not surprised at all anymore. i'm actually glad to see that the bump is growing though - since she's always wearing things that hide it quite nicely.
39I haven't been surprised since I heard the news. I think despite the fact that she is a teen mother she is trying to do what is right for her baby so kudos to her for that. Hopefully everything will turn out well but I suppose only time will tell.
40Come on people!!! THIS IS NOT OK. Pathetic little girls that don't have any sort of career or education do not need to be having babies. It makes me sick. MARRIED people have babies. Doesn't anyone even have morals anymore!?
41Rosa, there are probably thousands of pregnant teens out there, I'm sure the statics would be both jaw-dropping and tearful.
The problem for me is that while Jamie-Lynn shouldn't be ashamed or hide from the public, but she shouldn't be praised either. It reminds me of those Maury episodes, where these young girls want a baby, because they want or need somebody to love them. Jamie Lynn is lucky...she has the means to take care of a child, but most of these teen moms don't, and a large portion get locked into a system of public assistance. And they don't realize how much of their lives they are giving up.
Abstinence is a really great thing to teach, but safer sex practices is far more responsible.
42Yea shes 16 and pregnant, I was shocked at first mainly because I thought she was educated enough to know to use Birth control plus seeing all the crap her sister was going through - I thought she wouldnt be in that situation but hey! it happends. I think she'll be alright.
Mothers, please educate your daughters!!!!!!!!!!! Sex ed is imperative.
43blah it so weird thinking shes 16 and pregnant.
44I'm 16...and could never imagine being preggers at this age..
and with her family..i know shes no where near mature enough.. =\
Tia, don't get me wrong I wasn't praising her either and I'm with you on your opinion 100%.
45Whoever said she's morphing into Brit - I don't think she's looking a mess yet, I think it's windy out, that's why her hair's like that.
Thanks pink! Yah, education's definitely important to me. I'm a sophomore in college going for premed. Thankfully, I have lots of support from my mom and she's financially able to help me stay on track with this. Alone, I'd be in a sh*thole. And the daddy's excited too. Even though I totally panicked when it happened, we've been planning and it doesn't look like my babe's gonna ruin my life for now. Plus I really look up to my mom for her success in the med field and I want my child to have a successful parent as a role model too!
46Out of curiosity I just went to the Babie R US baby registry an her name comes up with an expected due date of July 10th.
47I understand some teenage mothers can go on to get an education, good job and have a great family life. But acting like it is OK and no big deal to be a teenage mother is crazy. You have to admit it adds a whole other layer to the many things that teens have to deal with these days.I ask all you teenage mothers..do you want your children to be teenage parents or would you tell them to wait? I think you would advise them to wait cuz being a parent at any age is tough!
48Annalove- congrats on all of that!
49cerrygirl it is a very big deal at my church i actually have a group of girls and that we educate, so is not peeches and cream, it is a very lonely even though you have all the support in the world and mine was not planned
