8Liza--I feel the same way. When I've gone ring shopping and requested lower settings, the salespeople are always like, "Don't you want to show it off????" I just don't want to hit it on something or catch it on my clothes...doesn't mean I don't want a nice ring!

9 isn't bad. and most of these people if they got a small ring the magazines would be like She's Poor Something WRong! haha I want a medium sized ring, my boyfriend if a jeweler so I'm hoping for something pretty special. Special doesn't have to mean Huge. The ring isn't a reflection of how much he loves you!

25The ring size is what matters the least actually. What matters more is the color and clarity. A lot of people just go for the bigger diamond and end up buying these low grade diamonds that aren't worth much. Our jeweler told us that diamonds with imperfections aren't even accepted by jewelers if you go to sell them. He showed us the difference and the difference in the light reflection is amazing. My fiance had my ring entirely custom made so it's extra special to us

32Actually, Northernstar is correct. It gets very difficult to find a nice big stone. Usually clarity and color take a huge hit the bigger the diamond gets. If size is what is important to you, then by all means go for the big rock, but more often than not, you're going to be sporting just that, a big rock.
I'm more for the meaning and thought behind the ring, rather than size. My husband designed my engagement ring, and we both designed our wedding bands. They are completely unique and very special to us.
33Oh, and the reason I know this is I used to work for a gemologist/jewelry appraiser (who is now my father in law - SCORE!). You would not believe some of the crap that he appraised. Some of these rings looked pretty nice, but when you got down to the nitty-gritty, they were garbage.
I'm sure that's not the case in hollywood. These people have more money to throw around than is necessary. But that just goes to prove my point, if you have $300,000 to spend, you'll get a big, nice stone. If you have $5000 to spend, you'll get a big, flawed stone.

If they were on or in a magazine I would always buy it. I'm sad now. I know it's been forever ago but I can't get over it. Say what you will but that's just how it is.

I have tried on some substantial stones (with ex bf) and I did wonder "how will THIS fit into my life?" but guess what, honey, I'd make do SOMEHOW. About to be engaged now, too, and THIS is the right man, anything he gives me will be PERFECT. But he has already told me he needs my input. So I'll just show him Katherine Heigl's weird looking fingers....
