The show! The show! How could you not love the show? So, last night happened, and those who won are sleeping with little gold men while those who were nominated are just happy to have been so, of course. It's hard to pick a favorite moment, but I have to say that I thought it was one of the more interesting broadcasts in years -- I mean there were rolling papers and shadow movie posters and Abigail Breslin and Little Jayden Smith together on stage, what's not to love? Oh, and btw, any word as to why Jack's head was completely shorn? Just wondering.

I know he is just a kid, but I really loathe Will Smith's kid...his whole act that his parents have created him to be is really disturbing, not cute...
1...I am assuming Jack's head is shaved for a role...doesn't he look kind of evil with his hair like (or not like, ha!) that???
Jack shaved his head for his role in the Bucket List, in which he and Morgan Freeman play "two terminally ill men [who] escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die".

2I thought it was a good show.
**~~Everyone who's anyone has been on sesame street.~~**
3yup, didn't see the show except for the Dreamgirls performance. Oh it was so divalicious! I thought J. Hudson and Beyonce were going to throw their lungs up when they were trying to out-sing each other.
4Lol nicachica! Beyonce was WAY over singing Listen or one of those! What I want to know is who the hell invited Tom?! And to present no less! Ellen was hilarious with all those scenes where she went into the audience & those dancer people were amazing! So was that sound effects choir, although slightly disturbing, lol! I was pretty happy with all the main awards- most were so predictable, but there were some pleasant suprises- like The Departed winning Best Picture for instance. And most of the dresses were really nice, no fashion catastrophe's from what I could see!
5So mad that J Hudson won. She isn't that great of a singer or actor and for sure didn't deserve it. She didn't even thank Idol. What a b*tch.
6i think Gwyneth is looking great! and Reese has got cool long hair!
7Why would she thank Idol? They kicked her off pretty soon into the top 12 remember?
8I know, but no one would have any clue who she was if it wasn't for Idol putting her on the show.
9I'm SO HAPPY for Scorsese and The Departed wins! It really made my night!
10I think Ellen did really well!! And she stayed completely like herself and did not conform to anyone! Very happy for Forest Whitaker! He deserved it!
11I thought the show was totally boring. No Matt Damon, no Brad and Angelina - I was hoping she would get all snotty with that dopey Ryan Seacrest, George didn't walk the Red Carpet, no Ben and Jen - I guess we'll never know what she wore, too much time wasted on letting Tom Cruise run his mouth and of course, that tired old Lopez showing up like she is some big deal and she and the Dead Man yakking away about themelves, what they think, what they are doing next. And you can always tell when she feels she is not getting enough attention - she wears something that makes her look pregnant. At least Ellen was lively and animated.
12i love ellen but i did think the show a little boring
13Why was Ryan Gosling alone?
14I thought it was funny that Will nevre taught his son to wait for a lady..his son took off to the mic like it was a horse race and you could see that Abigal was thinking "like rude much?" Where are the manners Will? LOL!

Beware of the Green Umbrella..it attacks paps without warning!
Ryan was with his mom and sister because rachel was working.
16agustab-
i saw something on another site where they placed him at a pre-oscar party with a lot of other nominees and they said he left hand in hand with some other chick...
17ahahahaha, I think that Will's son has no idea what he's getting into and that Will and Jada just presume he is headed for greatness, meanwhile he didn't hold himself very well on stage!
18did anyone else hear Dian Keaton say The Departed "Scorsese first film with a plot"?
What was that all about?
19Ryan Gosling was with his Mom and Sister- Rachel couldn't go because she was busy working on a film...it was posted on pop earlier
20Wow George is so unbelievably hot.
I think the show overall was good, but it definitely could have done without the montages, etc. They need to cut it down to 2 hours, then it would be perfect.
21Ellen was funny. I don't want to be mean, but I was so glad that Eddie Murphy didn't win. Was it just me or was anyone else waiting for Jennifer Hudson's boobs to pop out of her dress while she was singing?
22Loved Ellen-but it was a boring show!!!!
23I know, but no one would have any clue who she was if it wasn't for Idol putting her on the show.

^^
That is so not true. She had to audition along with over 700 others for the role of Effie, and that audition included some already well known Idol participants like Fantasia. Idol wasn't owed for anything other than given JH a reason to show them that she was more than Simon said she was.
24Little Abby's dress was adorable and she looked as if she felt like a princess last night. So cute!
25Edwina- So, you think that if she wasn't put on A Idol that she would have gotten that role?? The only point I was trying to make is that no one would know who she was including the people that hired her for the movie. There is no way she would have gotten it on her own.
26Abby was adorable. She for sure should have won!
27Where was Salma Hayek that night? She had announced nominations and didn't show up at the show?
28I'm so happy that Martin Scorsese won finally!
29He deserves the award not only for The Departed, but for his whole body of work. Yay!
i didnt watch the performance but beyonce looks so hot during her performance. love the dress. she finally looks the way she used to during her crazy in love days. but jennifer hudson's dress is a bit too bright for her, i think the one she wore to the red carpet was better, minus the jacket.
30BA4ever, so true about JLO & the dress- the woman is never happy unless all eyes are on her!
Did anyone else notice how glum Kate Winslet was looking? Every time the camera panned to her during the show, she had a pained expression on her face. Smile woman, you're at the
frikken Oscars!!!
31Jennifer Lopez was the worst dressed person there.
I agree Edwina, I never thought for a second that J Hud was going to mention Idol, she had a very hard audition process, where she beat out close to 800 pp, 798 were not on AI, I do not think AI get her the role by any means. Most actors thank the people in the movie and directors , producers ect. it is rare they mention thier first gig, period, so I do not think it was neccesary at all. People seem to want to find something negative to say. I thought Beyonce wwas quite gracious, and I actually really like them both last night.
I knew Eddie would not win, I think Norbit killed it for him. His date's dress was so ugly.
32I was so happy when Marty won for Best Director, that the highlight of the show.
"Edwina- So, you think that if she wasn't put on A Idol that she would have gotten that role?? The only point I was trying to make is that no one would know who she was including the people that hired her for the movie. There is no way she would have gotten it on her own."

I reiterate, no I don't think it (AI) had anything to do with it because if it did, why wasn't it Fantasia in the role instead? "someone who was an Idol winner?" Why wasn't it one of the boatload of Idol wannabes, or one of the already established SAG card carrying actresses out of SEVEN HUNDRED+
that who auditioned?
I have never seen American Idol. I have never even watched what I'm told are the hilarious picking process shows. I heard long after the movie was made that JH was once on AI, but apart from that I was unaware. Please don't reduce her Oscar win to being nothingmore than a sympathy or sentimental decision made by voters just because you dont like her or feel she's undeserving. I'm not a fan or non-fan, but the woman worked for the chance and the voters felt her effort earned her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
She earned it, it was not given to her.
33t hive, strongly disagree about your statement. In fact , AI , and Jamie Fox were pushing for Fantasia to get the role, which has been pretty public.
34Edwina , we think alike, it's kind of scary
35Before she received the Oscar they asked her if she would thank Simon and she said that she would probably thank Idol as a whole. You guys are totally missing my point that she would be a nobody. Whatever, I'm done. You guys like her, I think she's crap. The end.
36i luved ellen
37ellens so sweet - funny -
38I forgot about the two kids presenting the awards for the Shorts. They were totally cute.
And to whoever posted about this upthread, Diane Keaton didn't say that about the Departed, the voiceover people who were throwing out fun facts and sound bites about the winners all night did. That must have been the line that Scorsese fed them to say in a pre-show interview.
39What a total snoozefest! I've never thought that Ellen was that funny and in my opinion she didn't do a good job last night. Hopefully next year they'll get someone funny to host. My votes are for Jimmy Kimmel or Jerry Seinfeld.
40KatGoddess I totally hear you. Will and Jada seem like very conceited people and I think it'll be twice as bad in their kids.
41Oh, and YES....I thought for sure that Jennifer's boobage was gonna come out for some air any second during the song w/ Beyonce! YIPE! Those puppies were just a-bouncin' like two Jell-O moulds!!!
42I loved Ellen. She was a good choice to host the Oscars this year!
