Christina is on the cover of September's Seventeen magazine. In the issue she says she wants to open a shelter for victims of domestic abuse. Apparently she has already started by donating her personal belongings to shelters in Pittsburgh. Here's more:
"Some of these women leave their homes without anything," she said. "They just grab the kids and get out of the situation. And so a lot of these women have nothing, and they have to start from scratch." But beyond helping provide necessities, the singer says, it's also important to help rebuild their self-esteem — "because it's really broken after they've been beaten down for so long." Aguilera addresses the theme of domestic abuse on several songs on her new album, but her next single is more of a feel-good number called "Candyman."

I did read the her birth father was abusive towards her mom and she has always had an active voice about domestic abuse so its good that she taking it further...

26Yay, my favourite gal! Kudos to her for turning the painful experiences of her past into something that can help others. Who cares if her husband's ugly, at least she's happily married & free of scandals & drama- that's more than can be said for most of Hollywood (and I'm sure SHE finds him attractive- each to their own).

I'm glad Christina is happy, agree with everyone on that fact they are just walking to their car, and hate it when people try to over analyze that stuff. Like when Cosmo takes pictures of stars kissing their significant other then have a 'professional' something er other decipher whether they are happy or are going to break up. It's ridiculous!

40Christina has always at one point or another addressed the domestic violence issue, including a song on her last album. She has also previously done many positive things in the past to help domestic violence victims, such as donating funds to shelters. It is a horrible situation to be involved, especially for the children that are permanently scarred by these events. Therefore, kudos to her and people like Salma Hayek, who bring to light the need to address a topic that, unfortunately, is not viewed as important.

45I am a volunteer at a local Battered Women's Shelter so I really admire her for wanting to open one up ... THere are more animal shelters today than there are children/women's shelter .... Sad.

47ImCurly, How do you go about volenterring at the womans shelter, I would rather be a volenteer than a resident.
48Also, I am in big trouble today, have spend too mush time on popsugar and did not bath my 3 dogs. Hubby just came by and ask me "what's up"...thought you were giving the dogs a bath, and painting the laundry room. (ouch!)
