Jamie Lynn Spears spent the afternoon alone with her baby bump running errands around Kentwood yesterday. Still keeping the maternity-wear super casual and, well, super high school appropriate. She turned 17 just last week, but kept the celebration to a minimum with a quiet night out with her fiancé Casey. The teenager's wedding may not be the celebrity nuptials you're most excited for but I'm still excited to see this baby in a few more months.

She is lookin better than britney thats for sure!
1poor girl...
2why does her face look so different?
3Poor girl. Ha. Give me a break. I don't feel bad for her at all. For a girl with every possible resource at her disposal, money, information, whatever, she deserves everything that comes with pregnancy, whether that's happiness or misery.
4I just hope she's a better mother than Brit...
5makes me sad too. at 17 who really understands "life long choice"? man, don't really see a happy ending for this story. she looks happy though.
6wow mondaymoos she's young- you never made a mistake when you were young??
7"high school appropriate" maternity wear. Um, sure.
Oh well, if she manages to retain custody of her own kid she'll probably be a better mother than Britney. Wonder if she'll work on a second right away like her sis.
8agree poor girl....
9I , for one, am in her corner. So, she's 17. So, she's rich, pregnant, unmarried, and on top of all that, sister to Britney! Why should she walk around looking miserable if she doesn't feel that way only to appease those that need to throw stones? I think she looks like she is having a healthy pregnancy (glowing!) and happy about it. Everyone keeps harping on her age, so why, then, is it o.k. to continually "kick her" for being, what some of you see as, wrongly enjoying her present state? Could it be because she is 17, and has no right to have accepted and be happy with the prospect of becoming a mother? I see her as having matured somewhat, accepted her situation and looking to make the best of it.
10Actually, karisaamy, I did make a very similary mistake when I was young. I was pregnant for my last year of high school. I didn't expect sympathy from anyone, and regardless, I DIDN'T have all the resources she does. I just don't feel bad for her. In my personal opinion, she wanted this to happen. If she was too embarassed to ask her parents about methods of birth control, there were many other people she could've. Personal assistants, friends, etc... and unlike me at that time, money isn't exactly an issue.
11I think it sends a wrong message to teens that Nickelodeon is till airing Zoey 101 even though the star of the show is pregnant and still in high school. Young girls look up to her and it's unfortunate because they are going to think that her behavior is acceptable.
12And btw, I'm not harping on her if that was her decision. She DOES seem happy... but I don't have an ounce of "poor girl" in my heart for her.
13She isn't the first teen to become a mother and unfortunately she will not be the last. Let's hope that the best comes out of the situation. Anyone remember Beyonce's sister pregnant and married at 17????
14I think this is the first time we actually see the belly!
15Still keeping the maternity-wear...super high school appropriate.
Because that's what we want for our youth...high school appropriate maternity-wear. This situation just seems to send out all the wrong signals. Jamie-Lynn should in no way feel embarrassed by her pregnancy, but all of these gossip blogs and news agency that are just so "excited" about seeing her baby should be!!!
16see this is the thing, we don't know what she feels, we don't know what she thinks. What we know is that she made a mistake, but for no reason should we make fun of her, there are so many girls in the U.S in her situation. and the following comment "Still keeping the maternity-wear...super high school appropriate." it is a little bit out of line. The girl made a mistake but at least she is being responsible, let her be!
17You can tell it's a girl!
18I'm just really glad that didn't happen to me...
19It's funny that when JL announced she was pregnant, some of the staff at Pop were worried about the glamorization of her teen pregnancy.
20I think the age thing is a bit odd, I mean over a hundred years ago women were having babies at a younger age. It's a social standard, and it's stupid. An old friend of mine had a baby at 16. She's doing fine, and she loves her daughter a lot.
No one has even mentioned her baby... she's rich. Whatever her age that baby isn't going to be growing up in poverty, or be without a good education. What you should be hoping is that she treats her kid better than Britney treated her own.
21Yeah I don't feel sorry for her. People do not make "mistakes", they choose not to use birth control, IMHO. I ABSOLUTELY think that she should have been kicked straight off of Nickelodian... NO place for a teen pregnancy.
22And having said that, the situation is what it is, and I wish her the best. I hope she is happy and making the most out of it. She certainly has any and all help/ resources at her disposal.
23Um, Nicola... a hundred years ago the life expectancy was shorter and more importantly women were seen as marriageable baby makers... not many choices except to get married and have babies. And also hello, no birth control!!! There is a reason that as soon as birth control was invented women stopped having babies when they were teenagers and branched out with their lives.
24Yea, Nikolai, I think most people remember Beyonce's sister Solange was pregnant and married at 17, had a baby at 18, and was divorced at 21.
Now she's a single mom. And I give kudos to her for being a single mom and not running around half naked, partying, and complaining about how she never had a real childhood. But what else is she doing with her life?
That's the concern most people have about pregnant teens. Early failed marriages and young women with fewer career and educational opportunities trying to raise kids alone. Jamie and Solange have more money than the average pregnant teen.
25not usually one to agree with you tiabia, but I totally do.
26I flip-flop on this girl all the time. Half the time I'm on her side, and half the time I'm not. I just don't know about her. I do think they should have canceled her nickelodeon show, that would have been the responsible thing to do, but that's the network, not Jamie. I'd keep the job too in her shoes, as long as the network keeps it on. She will be able to give better opportunities to her child as well because of her financial status and she DOES seem to be TRYING to stay low key.
On the other hand, she's an idiot! After watching what her sister went through I can not BELIEVE she was stupid enough to get pregnant. Whoever said it wasn't a mistake is right! If you have sex, UNLESS YOU ARE MEDICALLY INFERTILE, you run the chance of getting pregnant. Getting pregnant isn't a "mistake", it's the outcome of sex. Period. If you have sex, you could get pregnant. Anyone having sex should know that. Hell, anyone above 4th grade should know that! My TEN YEAR OLD KNOWS THAT. So it's for THESE reasons that I DON'T feel sorry for her. She did this to herself. She wasn't in the throes of a mental illness when she had sex, she was just being a typical teenager.
LIke I said, I don't know how I feel about her, but it ABSOLUTELY isn't pity.
27im sick of all the negative comments.its a happy thing to have a baby, and even more so when you have family/friend and financial support. i really dont feel sorry for her. i just hope she'll be a much more devoted mom than her sister. no matter her age or her marital status, she's more than financially capable of raising a child. a lot of people have sex at 16, she's not 13 or something! and keeping the baby is a better option than aborting it. and like i said, she has the money to do this, more than many women in their 20s and 30s do. if your daughter is confused about whether or not she's a good role model, just explain that most people cannot have a baby in their teens and be successful later on (i know ppl CAN do it and i have admiration for you), but celebrities are not really like normal ppl. hope her baby rearing goes well!
28She should have been kicked off the show? Really, kids look up to her? Well, parents need to teach there kids to not look up to celebrities and use her as an example of maybe not the best example of what to do in life. She should not be condemed. Parents need to be role models. We should teach our kids to stop looking at celebrites as god or something to idolize. SERIOUSLY, if you do not want your kids watching the show, turn it off or talk to your kids. We really need to start communicating with our kids instead of demanding that shows be taking off the air. She is not the first celebrity to be pregnant at 17.
29mama spears is definitely the one to blame here.. and she wrote a book on parenting??? oh pleaaase.. she has two of her children going down the wrong path! not that having a baby is negative in any way but i'm sure that this wasn't in jamie lynns to do list any time soon. yeah she's dumb for being so irresponsible, but i think the whole situation could have been avoided through her mom. if she actually acted like one and quit being a mogul for the business. but no.. her mom's stupid.
30I feel so sorry for her
31well..imo babies are blessings so I'm not gonna say anything bad about her pregnancy, but no way I don't feel sorry for her or any girl no matter what their age is for being pregnant. (well unless it was something awful like being raped) IMO should she maybe have waited to have a baby until she was more mature..probably but maybe she wanted it to happen, who knows. We all know it can happen when have sex so feeling sorry..nah. and if she is happy then that's really all that matters.
32what an ugly bump!
33Haha I always think 'oh, she looks like she's still in high school' when I see her, but then I remember that she's that age. She looks good, I hope her baby is healthy and happy!
34this girl is in deep sh*t, like her sister.
35sigh, is that the trend or what.
so sad. so sad.
36i feel for her.
her family life is so unstable, and unhappy.
aww she's popped!
37Such a cute baby bump!
38I bet she had no idea on her 16th birthday that she'd be celebrating her 17th with her fiance whilst pregnant.Crazy!
39I think its funny that her maternity clothes have basically consisted of extra large t shirts.
I mean from the front you cant even tell she's preg barely!
I'll have to remember that if I ever get preg.
40I'm not saying it's good that she is pregnant and 17, I don't even want kids (if at all) into my 30's. But it's not crazy that she was having sex at 16 and her bc method failed. So, she decided to keep it because she has the resources to be able to raise a kid that young. Why are we criticizing her for her choice? I never would have had the guts to do that at her age!
41Since when is a baby a punishment? I seem to find that the people who most believe in "family values" are the ones who want to foist babies on people as payback for some mistake. I feel sorry for all the children who outsiders comment on how they ruined their parent's life, what a special feeling.
42barf...ok, it pains me to see a kid pregnant...I'm 27 so I am not exactly a senior citizen yet but damn...I wasn't a virgin at her age but I was using birth control and condoms b/c birth control doesn't prevent AIDS and the many other things you can catch...not sure about her methods and all but it's just not cool...thank God my step sons (7 & 8 yrs old) aren't into her show b/c as of now, they think babies come when you get MARRIED...like you're automatically just pregnant at your wedding reception (gotta love kids and their theories)...her bump is kinda funky...maybe she's carrying a conehead?
43i feel so horrible for her everytime i see her picture but she proberly is perfectly fine and happy, i just wish her and her bf luck, i hope they stick together
44I think she will be fine and age is not what makes a wonderful mother. She made the choice that is right for her and who is to say she won't be a phenominal mother!Beyonce's sister Solange had a baby at 17 and she is doing great the baby is three now.Jaime has alot of things at her disposal that other young mothers do not and I wish her a beautiful life be it with Casey or on her own!
45Why is everyone excited about this pregnancy? She's 17 her life is over.
