Gossip Girl will finally be back on April 21st, and apparently the show's producers and advertisers want you to know one thing: there will be sex. While these ads capture hookups that already happened, the photos are definitely making a big statement about the show in general. The photos are definitely sexy, but considering its teen audience — do you think they are too racy?

... becasue teens weren't thinking about sex before these ads came out?
1Controversy.....
2No, Xian, because it's glorifying it...and then we end up with a whole boat load of Jamie Lynn Spears on our hands.
3Ok so I dont think a racy ad is too bad, esp since it is Gossip Girls....
HOWEVER...as a Christian, saying OMFG "Oh My F-Ing God" is totally tacky, wrong, and just not appropriate. Im more upset about that then the stupid ad. So it shows a steamy couple...most movie posters do. But usually OMFG to me is worse.
I think OMG would have be sufficient, but throwing the F word in the middle of it, is untasteful and insults me actually.
Anyone else feel this way??
4I don't think this ad is going to make my sister run out and have sex and get pregnant. Sorry, but she has morals and boundaries that our parents taught us at a very young age.
5Exactly Gatsby. Just because it happens, doesn't mean it SHOULD. Just because they make 6" stilettos, doesn't mean you have to wear them, ya know? Teens should not have sex promoted to them like this. People forget that sex is an emotional experience that many teens are not as ready to face as they think. This said by a teen pregnancy statistic.
6It's hard for me to believe that these books were written for young teenage girls. Whatever happened to the days of The Baby-sitters Club, Fear Street, or even Sweet Valley High for that matter?
7Yes and Maybe. I saw these last night and there was no "F" in them. Totally unnecessary. They could have gotten the point across without it.
8Well hello to you too, softcore porn.
9So if the characters jumped off a bridge would you do it too? I would hope the idiots who watch the show would.
10i honestly think that it's even false advertisement because i've seen the show and believe me there aren't a lot of sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex.....in the show, but the ads and even the commercials make it look like there are a lot of sex!
i'm going to feel bad for the new viewers who were lured in by these ads and see anything but sex.
(sorry about my overused of the word "sex". i got carried away. lol)
11Get real, this will appeal to teens. And it's not going to be anything new for them. "OMFG" orginated from teenspeak and we're lucky if sex/profanity is the worst thing they do daily.
12I don't think these are any worse than the scenes the show actually portrays, but I can see how some may find it controversial... also, I didn't realize the "OMFG" was actually on the ad. That's not "racy," it's silly.
13This show is total trash. If you want to watch the *only* good show on the CW, watch "Supernatural"! It's freakin' OMFG amazing!
14I agree Savilerow, I'm not a Christian, I'm Muslim, but I also feel offended by the statement OMFG. Its horrible that something like that has made it into the mainstream way of speaking..I hear people around me saying it all the time.
15As for these ads, I think they would probably be ok if the target audience for this show were adults. But more likely then not, the majority of viewers are teens and tweens. As a teacher, I see girls in my class all the time trying to act as if they are 20 or 25, dressing like they are 20 and making out in the hallways. Childhood has slowly been made obsolete and replaced with racy outfits and sex...and its a shame as there is so much time for all the ladies to do all of that stuff when they are 17, 18, 19...What happened to kids just being kids.
Sorry that was totally off-topic...
i agree woop that is what i thought too when i saw these ads. its too racy esp with the omfg across it. i know it boils down to parents and how they are involved in their teenagers lives but no need to promote promiscuity.
16Thank you SkinnyMarie!!! My point exactly!
17I think the "F" is a little uncalled for since they can't even use the "F" word on the show....
Considering what both these scenes are leading up to though... the "F" is potentially accurate at least... and either way they are getting the publicity they want.
Side Note: This show is for teenagers?! I need to get a life because I love it.
18I just think they are a little unnecessary.
However, we are talking about them aren't we?
19And, we all know when GG is coming back, right?
Mission Accomplished.
I dont like it but it doesnt offend me- if I was a parent I think I would feel differently.
20Take out the F and I will deal with the ad. Still not gonna watch the show, though. I would ask where they are placing this particular ad and if the network it protecting it (as much as they can ) from young kids.
21I guess they are asking for attention.
22Well OMFG is used a lot by teens. I don't think these ads are too racy. Teens should now what happens when they have sex and know the consequences. Parents need to teach their children a let them know what's on tv is not always right.
23i don't think the blair ad is as bad as the serena ad. the serena ad is how should i say- well even less subtle than the blair ad! i'm not offended by the omfg but omg prob woulda sufficed- plus as someone said above- they can't even say the F word on the show, why put it in the ad?!
24I LOVE THEM!
25I've never watched show nor do I ever want to and these ads make me glad I don't. TRASHY!
26well i think the "f" in omfg can look like they're trying too hard to relate to the younger generation. so yeah it is a little unnecessary. also i think that serena and nate's poster is way racier than blair and chuck's. so i like blair and chuck's better because it's not so in your face and i loved that scene in the show as well.
27Leilanic1 - maybe they're not promoting promiscuity. Maybe they are encouraging teens to use "OMFG" instead of the usual "OMG" the uncool, older folks use during sexy times?
28I can handle the ads for myself.
If I had a teenaged daughter? Not so much!
29I don't think the first one is but the second one sure is.
30I would never let my tween or teen watch this show, its the parents responsibility but i also blame the CW network for trying to corrupt young girls into thinking its acceptable behavior to act like a complete who re
31I have more of a problem with the "F and G" combination, than anything else. Because the adjective has less to do with sex than defining God. It's not tolerant or sensitive to religious persuasions of any sort.
32This is why at least 1 out of every 4 high school girls has a STD
33i feel bad for blake lively (serena), her "o" face is plastered all over the internet...
34I'm pretty sure this ad isn't why 1 out of every 4 high school girls has an STD. I've seen racier ads in my boss' daughter's Teen Vogue. That said, I don't think it's appropriate for their target audience, but I honestly don't believe it's going to sway a teen who's on the fence about having sex.
35While I think it is part of the responsiblity of parents to teach their kids what is right and wrong...I also think mainstream media has a role and responsibility NOT to encourage and sell behaviour like this as normal for young girls. Afterall, so many teenagers go through that phase in their lives where they DON'T listen to their parents (not because of a lack of parenting but just because it is part of life). Parents cannot protect their kids from everything...these images of young girls having sex and being sexy and as 'normal' behaviour will so impact impressionable minds of youth...not to say all teenagers are dumb and will buy anything sold to them....but you only have to look to the streets and malls to see the effects of Britney, and Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton has on young girls... *sigh*
Ok..I'll get off my soapbox now ...
36I think teens are going to have sex whether TV ads promote it or not. We're just lucky, where I live, that sex ed is a serious class in the High Schools starting in grade 7
37I think the ad is smart and is obviously doing its job, by all the attention it has received. I think if the ad makes you uncomfortable, then you probably don't want to watch the show anyways.
38What a bunch of crap that surrounds us in this world today.
These ads are crap, altho I am also laughing at the thought that "teen sex" is as passionate as they are pretending/insinuating that it is.
I think we all know how awkward, blundering and pointless teen sex truly is
39Please, seeing this girl's O face accompanied by something said a hell of a lot during sex (for most people) is so in your face. I can't believe this is being marketed to teens. Teen sex is so NOT this hot hahaha. If it were an ad for Sex And The City I wouldn't think twice but for a show about high school kids? Come on.
40I am as liberal as a person could be but I think these are way to racy period. And, OMFG, Janet Jackson's flashing controversy made so many waves and something like this is allowed? I just don't get who and how these things are scrutinized! It makes no sense!!!!
41i think that it wouldnt be so racy if it didnt have the omfg.
42What's the show about anyway? Teenagers drama? Adult-themed? I've never watched it so I have no opinion until I found out for sure.
It sure looks like a more suitable ad for 'adult-themed' shows.
43it's GG what do you expect.........that's why we all love it so much...But i agree the OMFG whats that point?????
44i just wish the adds were previews of things to come. not from past events!!
45Pinkflats, what ep have you seen? On the FIRST ep there were TWO attempted date rapes!
This show does not have an ep w/out an intense make out scene or a sex scene. They spent a good 3ep on "almost" w/ Blake and her guy
46YET ANOTHER REASON WHY I WILL NOT WATCH THIS PATHETIC SHOW.
Thanks Gossip Girl for encouraging young girls everywhere to think that being a trampalicious slut is 'cool and hip'!
( cough.cough Jamie Lynn, STDS, AIDS and fatherless babies..)
what a world...
47It is sad to say that due to the way teens communicate nowadays the "OMFG" tagline is not surprising. Do I think it is appropriate....no. Unfortunately a lot of things teens do nowadays are far from appropriate. One good thing that may come from these ads is any parent who maybe wasn't aware of what this show is really about may be less likely to let their 13 year old daughters watch it. These kids act more like college age than high school.
48i do kind of feel like they are taking things a little too far. you wouldn't be allowed to say the 'f' word in an ad, so why should you be able to get away with it in Text speak....and the whole sex thing - we know that they are all having sex on the show - but to blatently put it out there - it's too much. they don't even do that for soap operas...
49This is kinda scary being that I have a 19 month old child. It makes me wonder how much worse things will get by the time she's a teenager. Before I was a mother my answer would have been "no" but now it's a little disturbing!
