Jakey did TRL yesterday and seemed to be blissfully unaware that Mark Ruffalo is talking some major trash! While we would usually take Jake's side in this because - well, we love him - Mark is cute too and he makes some strong points. Still, it's hard to believe Jake would have showed up to work without memorizing his lines! So at this point we'll try to stay neutral and hope that Jake takes the high road rather than firing back (or perhaps think he was referring to someone else). We'd hate to see tensions flare up on the Zodiac premiere red carpet!

That's too bad. I don't think Jake was bad mouthing the director at all. It is very different to say, "It was challenging for me to work in a style that is different than I am used to" and to say "The director was bad and doesn't know what he is doing".
I used to like Mark Ruffalo, but I think his comments were harsh.
1I just read Jake's comments again. He said the director knows what he wants and is "very, very smart". (How is that insulting?) And then he says that it is hard when you do 10 takes and they get scrapped. I think that is true for anyone. It is brave of him to be that honest, and to say that he had to keep going because the first 10 times he did it, it didn't work. Most actors want to be known to nail everything in one take.
I think that in his comments, Jake takes more digs at himself than he does at the director!

4Jake is a pro and has been in the business for a long time. I HIGHLY doubt that he didn't know his lines. I don't know if Mark meant to imply that.

12I am guessing some stuff happened on the set that did not make it into the article, and that is what all of this is derived from. Jake is so overrated. Did anyone see him on Conan the other night? He gives a terrible interview--I was almost embarrassed for him, it was like watching a train wreck.
