Katherine is not at all pleased that Touchstone decided to go public with their side of her contract negotiations. After rumors circulated this week that she wanted more money and had dropped out of negotiations, Touchstone released a statement saying she was under contract and wasn't going anywhere. Now Katherine has responded and it's clear she's not happy. Here's more:
"I am embarrassed that this has become a public matter and disappointed that Touchstone felt it necessary to divulge private employment information," Heigl, 28, said in a statement Thursday.
"I had hoped I would be able to deal with this issue confidentially with my bosses. I dropped out of the renegotiation simply because I wanted to treat myself with the respect I was not getting from them."
But Grey's fans will be happy to know that Heigl, who plays Izzie Stevens on the ABC hit, still loves her character. "No matter how unhappy I am about their decision to respond to this publicly, I continue to be passionate about and committed to this character," she said.
Sounds like things are going to be a little awkward at the office on Monday. Still, Touchstone said that they're going to be giving Katherine more money so hopefully this will all blow over and things will once again settle down on the set of Grey's. We're just happy that Izzie will be staying on the show, Seattle Grace wouldn't be the same without her!

Zing!!
Drama, drama, drama, ALWAYS on this set.
Those sunglasses don't really flatter her face.
2Oh she's just pissed because it made her look bad. Touchstone can divulge that they have a contract with her, it's their right.
3Well duh, she is on a show that eveything that goes on is public! She should expect that.
4Go girl! I like outspoken woman.
5Wow, what a cry baby. Those shades suck.
6Wow, Grey's seems to have more drama off screen sometimes than on-screen (well not really but it sounded good). Hopefully this works out, I don't know what I would do without Izzy on the show!
7She sounds as whiney in real life as her character.
Mark Ruffalo was right, they are all paid ridiculous amounts of money and should just shut up about it. Look at what she was doing before this.... Bride of Chucky, Vegas Dick (yea, that is a movie title), a juror in a Law & Order episode ten years ago, and a bunch of equally memorable roles. That is the stuff she should be embarassed about.
8Just b/c she wasnt doing ideal roles before this doesnt matter. most actors do not have an impressive resume before they hit it big.
9I admire the fact that she values her work, and wants to be paid accordingly. I've never watched Grey's Anatomy, but from what I've read here and elsewhere, it seems like her character is an interesting and well-liked one, and she should be compensated for a job well done. Also, it's very inappropriate for an employer to discuss work contracts and salary with anyone but the employee. I wouldn't want my boss telling the office that Skye complained because she didn't get a raise she deserved. It shouldn't matter that she is already being paid more than most Americans. If she feels she deserves more, and her work demonstrates that she deserves more, then she should get more.
10She is lucky she has a good job.
11Not focusing here but...
I LOVE her sweater! I also liked the grey one from yesterday's picture.
Does anyone know where we can buy both of them?
12actually she had a pretty lengthy and successful stint on Roswell. the simple fact is that the production companies make TONS of money off of their talent. their job is to hang onto to the profit for as long as possible. they do this by turning the actors againist one another by telling one that they deserve more money because they are a more integral part of the show and turning and telling the others the exact same thing. they also leak things into the press, to turn the public againist an actor so that if that actor becomes too expensive, then them leaving the show is not too big of a deal because the public didnt like them anyway. its good to know that the public is not that gullible. :EYEROLL:
13im just an orange county girl, living in an extraordinary world
Katherine be honest with yourself you did not wanted your co-workers to know that you were asking for more money... duuuhhhhhhh
14WHO GIVES AN F???!!
Cute sweater, though!
15Plain_Jane_Too - I thought the exact same thing!
LOL
16She's always complaining about something. It makes me think she's a whiner.
17Arg! She bugs me sooo much.
18I think the sweater she had on in the pictures yesterday was a Vince one, I think if you do a search online you might be able to find it, if it's not I would be really suprised.
And those companies have to disclose now how much some of their stars make and what contracts they're under, I believe if they make more than members' of the board of directors, I remember reading about it after the whole Katie Couric deal went public (although I don't think that's what went down here).
Either way, personal information regarding your employment is personal, but your contract and compensation are public unless the employer asks you to sign a non disclosure agreement.
19I mean, just think of how many times we've heard that negotiations for sports starts were underway, or fell through?!
20It's sounds like working on this set is horrible.
21I like her & I love the show, but I'm tired of hearing about all of their issues.
22whine whine whine. its not like she is hurting for money... & Sandra Oh was an fairly well-known actress b/f Greys. (I loved KH on Roswell, but I bet not many folks had heard of her...)
23i don't blame her. she should stand up for herself
24Love the sweater
25I loved Roswell her character had good and bad moments. I love Grey's. she seem to have the same issues here. One week you'll feel for her. Others you want to shake her. I think her character is an integral part of the show. But there are times you want to say GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE! I think you're right DEBA, she's just mad it all went public. she didn't want people to know she's like that. Oh well.
26I work damned hard sometimes 7 days a week for a small sliver of what these overprices divas make for ONE episode. No sympathy.
27what a brat. anyone see the trailer for knocked up? it looks funny enough, but its not like KH is going to be the next meryl streep. she should just take what she's getting and be happy with it. i'm sure its more than enough!
28She caused a bunch of cr*p on the Roswell set too.
In TV Guide she said after the show was taken off the air that she would just go in late or not show up because she hated it. She just didn't like it because she wanted to be a lead, and when they did give her more screen time, the show still tanked. There were rumors that she got Colin Hanks written off because she didn't feel he fit as a love interest for her. But the truth was most people didn't care about her character.
29As I understood it, the first move in this game came from her people by announcing that she dropped out of contract negotiations as a way to the public to pressure the bigwigs to give her more money. So it's certainly not Touchstone's fault that this became public, it's hers.
I love her on the show, but if she's going to keep making trouble, then that is no good.
30that show is soo boring..
31The fact that she's been around Hollywood so long and this is the biggest role of her career (so far) in terms of exposure and ratings makes me think she shouldn't make too many waves. When the series was cast, I think Sandra Oh might have been the most high profile actor at that time, given that Dempsey's career was almost, non-existent then.
I understand asking for more money because the show is a hit, but it's a large cast who probably all want a bigger cut.
32I just realized that was supposed to read sports stars, not stars, so ashamed.
33she starts to bother me. A lot.
34I quite like Katherine, but I'm losing patience with Izzie. The character made great strides last year but it seems after Denny's death she's just regressed to being whiny and random.
35During negotiations, a boss rarely just gives you the money you're worth when they can get you for less. You always have to fight for it. Women, especially, have a harder time since they're usually taken for granted and find it difficult to stand up for themselves. So good for her.
I keep getting the feeling that Katherine's getting big-headed of late. Let's hope I'm wrong.
36Katherine speaks her mind and I think that's cool.
37i am impressed she spoke up.. if other people are making a ton more than you, and doing the same thing, going to your boss in private and saying, look, is there a way to fix this isn't inapropriate.. EVERYONE does it at some point.. and the fact that she is upset that it got out, instead of pulling a star jones and announcing to the world that she wasn't equal on the compensation is respectable..
38greedy
39I'm neutral. I guess it's good that she's standing up for herself, but the truth is the more high-profile cast-members make more. However, Isaih Washington should not be making more than her. He's never had a bright career and the only attention he gets is from being a jerk. Sandra Oh should make more money because her career is full speed and she got the award nominations. I don't understand Katherine's second statement about being angry that Touchstone divulged that they had a contract. If she could publicly complain about not making enough money they could make a statement as well. There is so much drama in this television cast.
40i like the guy's scarf. like the print on one of my granma's rugs..
