You all weren't loving the first taste of Scarlett Johansson's upcoming album of Tom Waits covers, Anywhere I Lay My Head, but maybe this new video for "Falling Down" will change your mind. It gives us a behind the scenes look at life as Scarlett — getting all made up for photoshoots and events, flying all over, looking gorgeous. Plus, there's a little Lost in Translation feel to it and even a cameo by Salman Rushdie. So watch it below and let us know — love it or leave it?

3Why do all these actresses try and become singers? It takes away from how brilliant of an actress she is...personally, her voice is like screechy
4the song sucks and so does the video..ew
5Does anyone else thing she sounds like Sinead O'Connor? (sp?)
6Also, you never see her signing. Just looks like a video with her in it.
I kinda liked the music tho.
I didn't expect her voice to be this bad.
7Violet I was thinking the same thing when I was listening. I couldn't understand the words to the song and it simply sounds like the background to a very bad nightmare that I can't wake up from.
8I think this seriously might be the worst song I've ever heard. Who would let her release this? She can't sing that bad but this is a horrific song for her.
9Well now I know I sing better than Scarlett. And I hardly sing.
10My conclusion; this is so bad
I can't help having a little girl crush on her. She hangs out with Salmon Rushdie and wears the prettiest dresses...sigh...
11Her voice is terrible...couldn't even watch the whole video.
12Even though I'm not a huge fan of her as an actress either, I think she should stick to that. She certainly was destined to be a singer...
i only made it through the first 5 seconds - that was torture!
13her voice is terrible. barf.
14i LOVE it, shes so raspy, elegant and old school. People need to be open minded
15She rocks it. Just because all you people that have commented listen to sh*t-for brains artists doesn't mean she needs to fit into what you define as talent. She's alternative and her sound is unique and well developed. Interesting music video. I applaud her for not comming out with this paris hilton, lindsey lohan crap. Bravo.
16omg... that song does not suck!!... it's such a beutiful song and Tom Waits is a genius for those of you who don't know it or can't hear it. I love Scarlet for doing his songs and for how raw and natural her voice sounds. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
17THANK YOU ALEXINA11
18It doesnt even sound like her singing
19THANK YOU ALEXINA11
20I love Tom Waits, and I expected Scarlet to do a better cover because I heard her version of 'Summertime' and liked her voice. She was really flat in this song though. Her voice was in the background and the song had no heart... plus the video was silly.
21Er, you guys can applaud eachother and indulge in social validation over the internet as much as you want, but nothing changes the fact that she sounds utterly off key. A trained music professional or anyone with an unviolated set of ear drums could tell you that.
This sounds just as bad as Paris' over-manufactured garbage... she sounds terrible.
Video is fine. Song? Another story.
22I love her and everything about her. At the risk of sounding like Simon Cowell (now everyone do the British accent with this)
23The fust cuphole of sintinzes weh hmmmm, mybe, wait for it, and then it just keeps gettIng bettuh and bettuh, so yeh bravO.
She sounds horrible.
24Ren...I think she sounds like a bad version of Sinead O'Connor. I liked Sinead, but I couldn't even listen to this song for very long.
25I couldn't watch for very long.
26The video was to shakey.
I got dizzy.
her vocals are terrible, and it's tedious to hear. i kept waiting for a hook, or a change in the tone of her voice, but it is as monotone and boring as she appears to be. there is no saving grace to this... i kept hoping this would be different, but i am still to be proven wrong. i couldn't even sit through the whole thing. there goes 2 minutes i'll never get back.
scarlett - do us all a favor and just stick to looking good in the glossy magazines.
27OH HELL NO SCARLETT!
28so she chose to cover tom waits songs...great. how hip and cool of her. he's a great artist...although arguably not for everyone. i STILL found this to be self indulgent, and just because her song choice was better than Lindsay's or [insert name of random it-girl who has questionable singing ability] doesn't mean its a good version of that song.
that said, I'm personally much more interested in an artist that can write a good song AND sing it instead of JUST doing covers (ahem, She & Him)... But to each his own.
29The tom waits song was good and I sorta like the style. But to call her voice raw and natural is a little disturbing - they have added so many studio enhancements/distortions to her voice to cover her up her non professional voice that you really cant hear what her voice sounds like.
30But my only concern is why???????????, why my David Bowie did the backgroud vocals!!???
31I know Tom Waits have a very particular and unique style in singing, but this is not a good tribute to me, I hope the rest of the songs are better...
Alexina 11, little_mary.. darlin'..
I do not listen to britney and linsday. I have studied piano for 4 years, I sing, I play violin too. I listen to classical music, jazz, rock, avant garde of all generies ( just i hate hip hop and do not like too much metal, even if it depends of the artist). I can assure you that she has no voice. And the remix is terrible. I thought that do not need to have "ear" to understand. Infact almost all the people here think this is crap. The video is not only boring, is also stupid. Only one advise, if I can..never say others are ignorant..cause you never give a good account of youselfself. Expecially cause you could find someone that let you notice that maybe you are not so in the right part..
Regards
P.S. : i know tom waits very well. i hope that tom has not listen to this songs of maybe he will kill himself!
32alexina, i see that you are a new member, so i'll break it down to you gently, newbie. you can disagree with other members' comments by saying something like "well i don't know what you ladies are thinking but i think she's great..." or "in my opinion she sounds Ah-MA-zing!"
but there's no room in this site to leave the negative remarks such as calling other people's musical taste sh*t.
just like beauty, music is subjective. you liked it, others hated. that's all. there was no need to resort to your high school ways by calling on other people's chosen artists as "sh*t for brains."
f*ck last time i checked my artists bjork, common, n.e.r.d, ella fitzgerald, al green, louis armstrong, modest mouse are or were NOT "sh*t-for brains artists."
33im sorry this is bad, really bad
34This is the worst thing i've heard in a verrryyyy long time
It's kinda sad
35i love scarlet, but this was just really, really bad. i do LOVE that salman rushdie makes an appearance in the video - how incredible!!
36AHH!! it was horrible!
37OMG....no,really bad. She has horrible voice and the song is not good too.
38Liked the video, not her voice
39Just not my bag.
40HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but she's still gorgeous
41Wow, I have to say this was a major dissapointment. I have a very open mind with music, I am not at all about today's style of music, I was excited that she was not doing the whole J.T vibe type thing but man, this was BBAAADDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
42At first it just sounds like she's speaking/yelling instead of singing... I got used to it as the video went on, I'm not sure what I think of it now.
I'd be curious to find out what people thought of it if they just listened to it before they knew it was Scarlett.
I guess most music videos are like this anyway, but it certainly was a bit "Me Me Me"!
Props for including Rushdie tho! How would one go about including him in a music video tho? lol
43that was horrible! Who told her it sounded awesome?
44Couldn't watch it all. Her voice is awful
45.. meh.
I'm sure she knew it was a risk to sing the song that way, but it's not something I prefer. I kinda get how they were going for an ephemeral quality and it may have worked.. except where it doesn't sound pretty.
Also, the point of the video completely missed the point of the song. I will admit though, it immediately lost me after the yellow air-powered flaily monster... thing. Tom Waits doesn't deserve flaily monster.. things.
46It was hard to hang on and listen past a few seconds, I did though, and she sounds AWFUL!!! Whoever told her she has a good voice was LYING.
47EH... overproduced and unoriginal.
48ohot mess
49I like it a lot
