While 2008 is already shaping up to be better than 2007 for Brit, all that drama is still costing the pop star. InTouch estimates that skipping out on doing a tour for Blackout cost her about $50 million, and Brit only made her financial situation worse by spending her cash on doctors, legal fees, and shopping. Thanks to Jamie's duties as co-conservator, Britney's spending habits are much more controlled these days, but tell us — do you think it's time she start focusing on making money again?

Working in the music biz, I find it hard to believe that her tour would have brought in 50 mill. Maybe OVERALL, but tours are incredibly expensive to put on - and I'm sure any show Britney's people would have put together would have included many spectacular (re: pricey) elements: dancers, big stages, pyro, lights, etc. Also, given when "Blackout" came out, I doubt that she would have been playing to sold-out stadiums. The album was released on the heels of a dismal VMA performance and her personal life spiraling out of control. I don't know if most people would have wanted to see that. Also, it's important to note that the accountant who estimated the tour revenue and how much Britney has supposedly spent in the last year (61 mill) is NOT her accountant, has NEVER been her accountant, and had no access to her financial information.

10i think that she could start to focus on the earning part. with all the cars that she bought last year - it would be good for her to make some money. i wonder if she could some how go on tour again...although i don't know if that would be good seeing as how she's working to get her kids back. i hope that things continue to get better for her though.

But it wasn't clear if the estimated $61 million lost includes the estimated $50 million she could have earned on tour, meaning she really spent a mere $11 million at hotels, drug stores and gas stations.
The $50 million figure may include revenue from merchandise, which can be very lucrative. More so than an actual tour.

17I think she should concentrate mostly on her boys. That is first and foremost. But having a decent career would be nice too. Do guest spots, work diligently on another good album...not a rushed album like Blackout was. But first priority should be her kids. Bottom line.

22I think she needs to get her life back together first. I think she is trying too. She's just not well enough yet, well I don't think so anyways. I'm no psychologist though, so maybe working is just what she needs right now.

24I went with Maybe. I mean, she's spending more money than she's raking in. However, she isn't going anywhere in the near future, so she might as well get better and in a year or a couple of months, she'll be raking in millions.
25Who believes In Touch? I don't SHE wasted that much money. I think Kevin probably spent tons during their marriage and lawyers fees and other bills added to it obviously. But as much as they are saying? Doubtful. I think she can go make some money if she wants, she's not mentally strong enough to go on tour. Small things are fine, but tour is so stressful. She's still a super mega millionaire. She's not going to go poor.

27Well I don't think she's broke, so she doesn't need to be making a lot of money, but if doing some work makes her happy and keeps her sane then she should go for it.
28With the spending that she does, she should be looking to make more money. But I don't think she should pursue any CD's or anything until she's good and ready to give songs and videos up to the caliber of how she used to be.

31Is it me or does she ever get ready before going out? She always tries to look cool with messy hair and clothes but fails (unless it is cowboy boots and hideous red lipstick). Anyhoo..let's here it for the boys and how she starts taking better care of them.
