What's with shrinking Hollywood these days? Even the older generation is wasting away. It's not just the young 20-somethings who are out partying all the time, it's the more mature 30-somethings too. Check out Penelope, Cate Blanchett, and Thandie Newton at the UK premiere of Volver. Hopefully they had some popcorn in the theater for these beautiful women.

Wow, how scary! Hollywood is just a whole 'nother world. I'm sure anyone of us would agree these chicks are just TOO skinny.

40i agree, penelope looks healthy to me. cate doesn't look too bad, actually pretty toned. but i don't know what she looked like in the past, so i maybe she has lost a lot of weight?? thandie looks like she is naturally that skinny, but again, i don't know what she had looked like in the past

44i honestly don't think any of these women look like they are shrinking or unhealthy. there's nothing wrong with looking good, working out, and eating healthy. i think the media and the people have gotten carried away and overly critical with the way celebrities look... calling them heifers when they aren't thin enough and accusing them of eating disorders when they look good. i guess some criticism has been legitimate, and in those cases it's obvious (lindsay lohan, mk olsen, etc.). maybe the few twiggy/anorexic girls ruin it for the rest of hollywood's pretty ladies.
but in this case... all three women have always had fit bodies and i don't see where the "shrinking" opinion is coming from (how can you even tell with cate in that outfit?). they're all beautiful. i guess it's just a pet peeve of mine, being a thin female all my life, when people accuse myself or others of being too "skinny" or "anorexic". not cool.
