OMG. That's so sad about Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter!
1I have this irrational fear of little kids going behind my car without me seeing them. It scares me to death!
something about mccain thats just irritates me to no end
so sad to hear about steven and his family
2I love how Ellen puts it, no matter your preferrences we all feel love the same. It's true. You Go Ellen!
That is very tragic, I'm sure that his son feels completely beside himself with grief over having caused such a horrible death in their family.
3I heart John McCain! I got to meet him a few years ago, and he is a stand-up guy. . . very down-to-earth and caring.
4Justingirl, all I have to say, is his Goiter freaks me the hell out! That thing looks wicked, and he really ought to get it checked out by a doc.... It's gonna BLOW!!!!!!!!!
5That poor family.
How awful.
6I admire McCain for embracing his opinion and not being afraid to voice it.
7He called it a "repectfull disagreement". . . very professional. He doesn't push his beliefs on Ellen, nor Ellen on him. That's politics for you.
8My heart goes out to Steven Curtis Chapman & his family- that is such a horrible tragedy!
9christina..LOL
10Oh Jeter you man-wh*re!!
11Christina23559, I think John McCain's condition that he is in is because he was a POW during Vietnam, but I could be wrong. However, I think that's why his face & neck are messed up- because he was badly burned while held in captivity.
12The more I see of McCain, the more I like him. I am a life-long democrat, but I think I am actually switching this time around.
How tragic for Steven Curtis Chapman. I don't know how something like this can be prevented.... The pain for all involved must be unbearable.
13He was badly burned, had his bones broken multiple times, etc. He has one arm he can't raise much above rib level.
He spoke to my social studied class when I was in the 8th grade and I've had huge respect for him ever since. It increased when a friend of mine interned for him. I may not agree with some of his politics, but as a man I have huge respect for him.
14oh and congrats to spielberg!
15Ellen Rules!
16So sad to hear about Steven Curtis Chapman! What a tragedy to endure! Prayers and good thoughts to the family.
I respected both sides of the John McCain Ellen debate, especially that they both respectfully held their ground through a difference of opinion.
17Derek Jeter is a low life scum.
18That was a very respectful conversation/debate had between John McCain and Ellen. I can appreciate that he was respectful of her but stuck to his guns on what he believes. And good on Ellen too for standing up for what she believes.
That is just awful about Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter. So sad. That poor son. He must be beside himself.
19Thats so sad about his daughter
20I watched the John ( WH_RE ) McCain video on TMZ. I prefer the Clintons because they are so Capable but I despise chimmy cheeks McCain, so I guess I'll vote for JFK. LOL! Or Obama.
21i'm so sorry to hear about steven's daughter. that's terrible.
22I love Steven and my heart goes out to him and his family. I'm not sure who I'm voting for this time, but I definitely respect McCain for voicing his opinion respectfully. OF COURSE they were going to disagree on same-sex marriage. Is anyone really surprised by that? But Ellen's a big girl she can handle it.
23Go Ellen. I don't understand "respectfully disagreeing". Either people have equal rights or they don't. The end.
24Yeah, I can't "respectfully" disagree with McCain on this issue. There is no good reason for not letting gay people get married.
25He has his beliefs and you have yours.
If you can't understand someone "respectfully" disagreeing about something, then in all honesty, you are the one with the problem.
26I love Ellen and I agree with her, and I have a new found respect for McCain to be brave enough to go to a show where he knew he'd be questioned about his position in gay marriage.
If only the politicians in Chile were that ballsy...
27You're right, I am the one with the problem because I don't think this should even be an issue at all. It is wrong to keep a group of people from doing something simply because you don't personally agree with it, therefore I don't respect his opinion on this particular subject. However, like Mary_Sofi said, I do respect that he went on her show at all knowing that he would be asked about gay marriage. And I do agree with you about making fun of the way he looks... but it makes me uncomfortable when anybody gets made fun of for something they have no control over.
28McCain seemed uncomfortable during the entire interview though, but he did handle the question very well.
29I think Chimmy Cheeks is a CUUUUUTE Nickname!! and btw. Ellen made a lot of Sense. There is still a Huuuuge Discrimination against Gays & Lesbians out there. It's very sad. What Century is this??
And another thing! I think Gay Weddings would be waaaaay more fun than Hetro Weddings! The flowers, the food... everything! This coming from a Hetro Woman who has been to plenty of Weddings.
30Sarah22, well said.
Susan Grace, the only gay wedding I ever went to was by far THE MOST fun I've ever had at a wedding, and believe me I've been to a ton.
31P.S. I don't know who this Chapman guy is but I really feel bad for him and his family.
32Wow FeFiFoFum these are the comments that kept me away for the last few months. Lighten up. Some people take life WAY to seriously.
I wasn't aware that the reason he has a large lump on the side of his neck was because of his time in the POW camp, of course I was aware that he was a POW, it's defo not been a secret.
I don't think that anyone should vote for a candidate just because they are a female, I think that people should vote for the candidate that most strongly represents their own personal belief's.
33not sick of me to put them in the same catagory you are telling people to respect other peoples opinions and yet you didnt do that with us...my opinion/fact was before that no matter how much spf i wear i still change colors in the sun. THAT IS A FACT. so i know the difference between fact and opinions...you need to realize that you are hypocritical and that was my point in pointing it out to you in this post about past blogs. you said this putting down ShannonSoCrazy OPINIONS...."If you can't understand someone "respectfully" disagreeing about something, then in all honesty, you are the one with the problem."..and that makes you a hypocrite because you didnt do that with everyone else in the previous post..you flat out said that if you wear the right sunscreen you wont be changed my the sun...which is WRONG
34Steven Curtis Chapman & his family, my heart goes out to them. How unbelievably horrible...
35way to go Ellen!!!! she was saying everything she felt and being so truthful, there was sumthing that mccain was holding back u cna just tell, and i dont think we need a person who is gonna hold stuff back for any resaon in the office.....i dunno...
36My condolences to Steven Curtis Chapman's family, thats such a terrible tragedy...
I admired Ellen Degeneres and John McCain's debate. They were both very eloquent and well-spoken about their views. I have the same debate in my head about gay marriage because I am a Christian so I'm supposed to believe that it is wrong but I don't feel that I should make judgments about that kind of thing. I beliueve that Ellen was right about saying that all love is the same and I don't think its necessarily right that they should be treated like second-class citizens.
37The first marriages recorded were of religious nature. It's why most of them were recorded in Bibles, not court houses. Most cultures didn't even have a "legal" ceremony, it almost always was a religious ceremony. If a certain religion is dead set against homosexual relations (almost ALL religions are) and almost all religions consider homosexual relations to be a severe sin, then it would be hypocritical to allow a religious union of a couple that is, in the religion's eyes, committing a sin.
That is what the big issue is, in most people that are opposed to it. I personally have no problem with 2 gay/lesbians getting married. I on the other hand do not believe in any organized religion, so to me it would be strictly a legal issue, so that my significant other could receive my benefits etc just like any other spouse could.
Some people don't understand the union of homosexuals and stand strong by their beliefs in that it is a sin, because that's what the Christian religion teaches. How can you believe in a religion and just overlook one of it's MAIN sins? You can't, and that is the issue with most people......I think I just said that, anyway, open minds people..open minds. Maybe it's time we rethink how correct religions are, which I happen to think are in many ways, very very wrong.
38I like Ellen but I cannot stand John McCain.
