Kirsten Dunst was spotted outside her trailer over the weekend as she and Ryan Gosling continued to film All Good Things in NYC. While she was out of period costume for the moment, she wasn't ready to put aside her personal drama. Kirsten opened up to E! about her trip to rehab earlier this year — and she also put to rest the rumors that she and Ryan are more than just costars. Here's more:
- On why she went to rehab: "I didn’t go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse. I went there for depression."
- On making the decision to go: "It was a good six months before I decided to go away. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn't know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge."
- On clearing up the Ryan Gosling rumors: "I am not dating Ryan Gosling!"
It's a rare moment of openness from the usually private actress, but we're happy that Kirsten seems to be in a good place about her trip to rehab and her current health. Hopefully things are starting to look up for her.

Hmmm, interesting. I know we kept hearing it was alcohol abuse. Glad she cleared that up and that she's doing better.
1somehow i really like her and it's great to hear she's doing fine
2In her interview on the People website, she says something along the lines of 'depression is something serious, and should not be gossipped about' to explain why she didn't mention this before.
3I think it's a very good point, people are just too happy to jump to the conclusion it's alcohol or drugs related if someone checks into rehab - I think it's great she can say she wasn't feeling fine and needed some help.
I thinks she's said this very well.. Depression is a horrid thing and finding and allowing yourself to have the time to get better is difficult. But as she says, she is lucky enough to have the resources to do it. I'm glad she's out, working and feeling better..
4I have loved her ever since she was Amy in Little Women. I'm glad she got help for herself. I know what it's like to be depressed and feel like you don't know what to do.
5yeah, i also thought 'depression is something serious, and should not be gossiped about' was a good point that she made. It must have been tough to be going through that and then at the same time people are busy speculating on why you're there.
6depression is a serious illness, it's rather annoying how some people take it so lightly and on a bad or sad day say "I'm so depressed..."
it's often the underlying cause of many other bad habits, hope Kirsten is well, that's why rehab was no fast trick for Britney and Lohan and others, they have the underlying issues to deal with
7I'm happy she's doing better, and it's quite refreshing to read she's is so open about it.
8I'm so glad she got help, absolutely adore her, snaggle tooth and all
9i'm actually relieved it wasn't substance abuse.
10glad she got help..depression is soemthing serious..so good for her.
11*something
12I think it is great that she sought proper help and had friends who understood that everything is not ok. It seems that many times in show-business young starlets just start drinking and using drugs to get rid of the bad feelings.
I agree, depression is serious matter. I find it annoying when people use that term too lightly. Everybody has few days of feeling down sometimes, but actual depression is completely different case. You just CAN'T pull yourself together, no matter how many times people say that to you. It takes time and correct help.
13good for her
14I feel for her. Good thing she's done it for herself.
15I wish her the best
16i can sort of understand the depression thing but there were soo many stories about her going on benders for a few days right before she checked into rehab. i guess as long as she's doing better now right?
17good for her for opening up about depression, i can respect that.
18That's great that she come out and said this, and I love that she made the point of saying it's serious and not something to be gossiped about. I know she probably felt she had to clear up the substance abuse rumours, but depression is all too frequently brushed under the carpet because people are ashamed to say they suffer from it so it's great to hear someone high profile come out and say "I was depressed, I needed help", hopefully it will help bring it out of the closet as an illness.
I love her anyway, but I love her even more now!
19I've always had a soft-spot for her. I opened this thread ready to defend her because people seem to hate on her a lot. Glad to see all the positive comments!
20She looks good!
21Wow...it must have been hard for her to deal with all the alcohol/drug rumors. Depression runs in my family and it is absolutely terrible!
22She was treated for being a depressed drunk. The girl has been carried out of more clubs than one can list. It's Kristin Drunkst, remember?
23I am glad that she did seek help.
24She WAS a drinker, which probably stemmed from her depression. But whatever. Glad she's not dating Ryan.
25good for her! It takes courage to come out and speak about depression. She seems like a sensible actress and I'm glad she got the help she needed.
26I think she's a talented actress. It's good to hear that she's trying to take care of her personal problems unlike others who let it affect their work and their image in the industry.
27Ditto treb!
28lmao blob!
Michael K said it best (I'm paraphrasing):
"Most depressed people I know spend their time drinking in bars. And the more they are depressed the more they drink. So at some point they'd end up in rehab right?"
29she looks good

:barf:
31agreed she was a depressed drunk - we can't forget about the benders. but it's nice to see that she's taking it seriously and is aware that it's not something to be gossiped about. it's always a good thing when people seek help for their issues.
sooooo happy she's not dating ryan.
32She goes to rehab for depression? Really? Bull$h*t! There are hospitals that specialize in depression treatment.
Why would someone who's depressed go to AA meetings regularly? Why would someone who's depressed have to be screened for cocaine and alcohol abuse by the movie's insurance company?
Nice try, Ms Drunkst, and looking at the posts here it seems she (or her publicists) has succeeded with this ruse.
33Glad she made a good move for her health. Depression can lead to desperate actions like drinking too much and it is possible that's where the rumors started about that. I like her and her honesty. I like how she kept her comments short. Details should be private.
34i think its good that she got help. i wish her all the best
35Props to her for stepping up, realizing there was a problem and getting help.
36But honestly, I can't help but think she went in for more then just depression. I'm sure it had to do with alcoholism which probably stemmed from the depression. Most people just go to therapy and not an actual rehab facility if they are depressed. I don't know, could be wrong but I just think there is more to it then she's saying. At any cost, as much as I don't like her, I'm happy she's getting better.
I hope she's doing better. I've never disliked her and I don't understand why so many people do.
37I really thought it was for alcohol abuse. But now I truly do wish her well, since most people don't realize how debilitating and serious it is.
38Depression... yeah right!
