Well, well, well. After over a month of speculation and playing coy with us, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have confirmed that they are expecting their first child. They posted this official statement on Pete's site, Friends Or Enemies:
"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."
Between all the rumors and quick wedding, we can't say this is a big shock, but we're always ready to welcome a brand new celebrity baby to the mix. Congrats to the newlyweds and we'll be looking forward to seeing this musically gifted little one!

20Well I am not surprised, but am happy for them! Their child will be a lil' cutie. As far as being young, my hubby and I met at 19 and 21 respectively, and I had our daughter at 25 and son at 26. There's something to be said for having children young. I have friends who haven't started at 35 and wish they had kids. I will only be 45 when my daughter is 20 and I think that's pretty awesome. Congrats to the (young) parents to be. All the best!
21i think its only fair that ashlee and pete kept this issue private until now, its normal to keep it to yourself until after the first trimester and its too bad in the gossip-hungry times we live in right now that they had to go about flat out lying to the public in order to do so

The best news about all of this is that her album flopped - so even with all the hype Pimp Daddy Joe tried to create, it couldn't help album sales. Now that they're married, having baby, released the album, can they go away ?
29well you can totally understand why they would want to wait until after the 1st trimester - since so many things could happen. to be honest, it's a shame that people butt into celebs lives at such an early stage....cause it would have been horrible for her to have a miscarriage and have everyone already be so into the pregnancy.

Anywho, even though I am a pretty modern chick, , the one thing that always annoys the hell out of me is out how all these celebs, young or old, race to the altar before they start showing. I know this may sound completely weird but, at least Nicole Ritchie who does not have the cleanest track record, did not rush into marriage because a baby was on the way. It defeats the whole sanctity of marriage by wearing white and all the other cliches before the baby is born. It just kills me when people share wealth and not love with their soon to be kids. Celebs need to get off their high horse sometimes and get real.

37I am going to give Ashlee some benefit of a doubt on this one. A lot of people do not announce a pregnancy until the end of 3 months. But someone who knew obviously leaked the information - intentionally (cough*papaJoe*cough) or not. Congrats anyway. Lets see if they manage to sell the baby's first pictures without having aunt Jessica and maybe-uncle Tony actually holding the babies.

42We all already knew this! So their wedding photos went for $1.4 million as long as Jessica was there. Can you imagine how much they will charge, excuse me, Papa Joe will charge for the photos?
I wish that at least one of the Simpson girls would marry someone that would put an end to Papa Joe's control, but I don't think this is ever going to happen. Of course I don't think he would allow someone who would threaten his control either.
While I like both Ashlee and Pete, I feel sorry for their upcoming offspring. Hopefully her dad doesn't interfere. I'm curious what kind of name they come up with.
