Charlize Theron was happily soaking up the sun for a photoshoot in July's Glamour. Just in time for the release of Hancock, she seems carefree and ready for her big Summer blockbuster. In the issue, Charlize gives us the facts on her career, her man, and her rules to live by. Here's more:
- On the future: "I don't believe in making five-year plans. I don't want to say, 'Yes, I want to have children in the next five years,' because I don't know. I've always known that I'd like to be a mom, but I don't want to live by a schedule. If I [did], I wouldn't be living in the moment. I try as much as I can to live the life I want [right now]."
- On why she's attracted to Stuart Townsend: "He's got beautiful feet and hands. [Laughs.] Here's the thing: The Beatles had it wrong about love. They did! I think if you are in a one- or two-year relationship, love is enough. You can thrive on that. [But] when you hit years three and four, you realize that if you're going to live with somebody and not just live near somebody...you have to be nurtured emotionally and spiritually, and you have to be intrigued. Because if that intrigue runs out, you're not going to want to go home anymore."
- On working with good looking men: "I have no problem telling Stu, 'I think Will Smith is hot and I'm really glad I got to work with him.' I'd be an idiot if I said, 'No, [Will's] not that good-looking.' There'd be something wrong with me."
To see what else Charlize said about the roles she plays and what she's learned from her mom, just read more.
- On playing sexy characters: "I've always been comfortable with my sexuality. I'm blessed to have been raised by a woman who never made me feel ashamed about what's underneath my clothes. That's a part of me and I don't run away from it."
- On living by her mother's philosophies: "My mother is one of those very unusual, superb human beings--she's innately strong and incredibly smart. She created an environment for me to explore [who I was]. When I was 18 years old and my knees gave out, I was living in a friend's basement in New York City and feeling depressed. She said to me, 'If you're going to wallow in self-pity, you can do that back in South Africa. Now, what do you want to do with yourself?' "
Charlize seems down to earth to us but we're excited to see her get a little out of this world alongside Will Smith as a superhero in Hancock.

Her knees gave out? Literally?
1she is so beautiful and talented...
2All You Need Is Love is a simple song and she is making it more complicated, like people often do in relationships. I don't think the Beatles are "wrong". But I'm glad she and Stuart are happy.
3She is one of my favorites- gorgeous, awesome fashion sense, and so very talented. Not sure about the 'knee thing'. If it was meant literally, talk about tough love from her mama-lol!
4Love her.
5She was a ballerina, and injured her knees, ending her dance career
6LOVE HER!
I don't think she was really criticizing The Beatles, I think she just using it to prove her point. And I agree with her. Love is wonderful and it's a great foundation, but if that's all you have, you're in trouble.
I also agree about the 5 year plan. I don't think I've had a 5 year plan, ever. That's not to say that those of you who do are wrong...it's just not how I live.
7oh, I do remember her being a ballerina- thanks for clarifying
8Lovely!
9she is gorgeous
10epitome of beauty
11She is gorgeous and I also agree about the 5 year plan
12My girl crush.
She's even more stunning in person.
13She is gorgeous and a good actress too.
14Those pictures make me want to cut my hair!
15this may sound silly but have the glamour covers gotten really lame and cheap looking?!
16aw she's cute. so sweet!
17Loved this article and the photos. The cover was just gorgeous.
18I don't get her hype. I really don't.
19I like the fact that she values intrigue; it's often overlooked , but I think it's so important to keep relationships and friendships work. And I agree with her five- year plan; too many people, myself included- tend to be a little too obsessive about the future. Charlize is my kind of girl!!
20didn't she say she'd tie the knot when gay marriage was legalised? well, she lives in california.... do i hear wedding bells?
21i don't think she said she'd tie the knot when they could but i think she did express disapproval over the fact that they couldn't.
22My hubby was an extra on The Devils Advocate and he said that she literally took his breath away when she came on set she is that beautiful in person.
23omg she's so beautiful!! i switch teams for her and i'm not be dramatic i seriously would!!
24she is so gorgeous, love her. immensely.
