I think it was important for her to enjoy being young, and for him to finally grow up. This is an example when breaking up really made each party much better.

She was way too young for him. It's hard to believe they date. When I look through my old magazines and see them together, I can't believe how different theirlives turned out: Joel with NICOLE RITCHIE + a baby & Hilary with her career (she's taken it slower in recent years). Come to think of it, she was like Miley Cyrus a few years ago, EVERYWHERE

Yes, I think that they're obviously better off these days. However, Joel is only a year older than Mike. Not much difference in age. There's a 8 year difference between Joel and Hilary and 7 years between Mike and Hilary.

They're better off. They kind of creeped me out as a couple. I can't say I love tiher of them now, but they're undoubtedly at better places in their lives.

They are way better off without each other. Hilary Duff was way too good for Joel, in my opinion, and she was way too young for him. Now she is much more healthy-looking and is in a happy relationship with a regular guy. But its also nice that Joel has calmed down Nicole Richie and they have a child together.

I agree that Hilary was way too good for him and way too young. This guy may be around the same age as Joel but his lifestyle is totally different. Nicole and Joel seem to run with the same type of people. Who knows if those two will last? They dated for like 2 months and she was pregnant and she is a recovering everything pretty much....drugs, alcohol, eating disorder....sounds like a recipe for disaster. Let's hope not for the sake of their little baby.

Joel and Nicole are the cutest couple ever!! You guys are so bitter...I don't believe in one person ever being too good for another. It's just all about whether or not they compliment each other in the right way and they've both found that person now.

i think that they made a good couple at the time even though it was a bit creepy that he was SOO much older than her and she wasn't even 18 part of the time, but i think that things are working out for both of them. joel has changes Nicole's entire life around for the better, and i think that fatherhood is good for him.

Yep, their relationship definitely creeped me out. But let's take a look at Heroes' Milo (30)and Hayden (18)....much bigger age difference. And when they got together Hayden was only like a year older than Hilary was when her and Joel got together...EW!

Let's see ------> Hil's career hasn't really done anything and Joel had an oopsie baby and got stuck with nasty ass Nicole. While I'm glad that they're not a couple anymore I don't think their lives turned out the way they would have wanted them to.
