Jamie Lynn Spears gave birth to a baby girl, named Maddie Briann, in Mississippi this morning. Her fiancé Casey Aldridge was there with her along with her family including Britney, who arrived into town yesterday. The infant was born at about 9:30 a.m. Jamie Lynn and her daughter are both "healthy and happy." Congrats to the new family and welcome to a new Spears girl!

maddie sounds nice.
6Wow- a normal name?! I mean I can say that without phonetics and spell it by guessing.
Congrats!
7Yay! A normal name
8Congrats to her and I wish her all the best.
For some reason I'm hearing Dueling Banjos.
9Congrat- like the name. I think I hear the banjos, too
10I'm so glad she went with a normal name! Congrats to her, I hope she proves all the nay-sayers wrong.
11PS. I've never said "nay-sayers" in my life, I don't know why I'm starting now.
12Maddie is a cute name. I'm sure Jamie is relieved.
13wonder if it was vag or C-section. Probably the latter knowing celebrities nowadays.
14and the baby isnt a spears girl, shes an aldridge.
15Wow- a normal name?! I mean I can say that without phonetics and spell it by guessing.
Congrats!
LMFAO

16wow, congrats to them and hurray for a normal name!!!
17this family just love their "two names for first names" ha.
18Maddie.. cute! congrats...
19CBB said she did not have a c-section
20LOL, Louie.
“Boo naysayers! Always with their saying of nay!” - Jon Stewart
Hmm, I guess this means that pregnancy hormones made JL yell at the woman to "move the f*ck out" of Brit's neighborhood back in early October.
21Not so fond of "Maddie" I personally hate it when people name their children nicknames. It's like they can never grow up...
Anywhoo..Congrats to her and Casey. I REALLY REALLY hope she paid close attention to her mother and Britney and WHAT NOT to do when it comes to raising children...
22maybe she will be like tori spelling breack the cycle, jaxon her name could be madalyn
23jaxo, i know what you mean. i wished she would have just gone all the way and named her madeline or madison. sounds better and more sophisticated.
24sofi - phew! thank goodness it's not just me.
25Umm congrats? I'm glad that she's had a healthy baby and safe delivery. I hope that Jamie Lynn and Casey are ready for the challenges that lie ahead for them. Good luck to the Aldrige - Spears family!
26congrats!!!
27yay! congrats to her!
28Not shocking that she gave her a trashy, bimbo name.
29I'm a true believer in naming your kid whatever the heck you want cause you just can't please everybody, however no harm/no foul in commenting on the name.
I personally HATE that name. I'm not even a fan of Madelyn or Madison. It's like Isabella...EVERYONE has it. It's the complete opposite of a name like Honor or Harlow (which I'm not sure I love either), but atleast those names provide you with some sort of identity. With Maddie you have the same name as a ZILLION other folks! You're almost forced to always use your last name or atleast your last initial in many instances.
But whatever...I just hope she'll be a good, decent mom.
30Congrats! Not the perfect situation to have a baby but she has handled this pregnancy with lots of poise. Glad all is well and both mom and baby are doing great! And...LOVE the name!!! Very nice, feminine, and normal name!
31yea for her! and i like the name...its really cute!
32anya_t, very true... I would never go to anyone and tell them "I hate your baby's name" But it's a blog so I can..woohoo.
That happened to me! ONE FREAKING DAY after my daughter was born her grandma (not my mom his) and aunts walk into my hospital room and announce that they are going to call MY CHILD by a different name because Dallas (her name) did not quote "Roll off the tongue very well" Thankfully her dad was there and told them, that was her name and when they had kids they could name them WHATEVER they wanted, cause I was 2 seconds from slapping somebody.
1 yr later though they all had to admit that they LOVE the name
33its a cute name but i agree that it should be short for more of a 'real name' ie madeline or madison. and why no 'e' at the end of briann?
34Congrats Jamie
35socialite life says she delivered via c-section. congrats to her!
36Banjos playing???
sfc
37they said the baby was breech and it was a scheduled C-section, that's why Britney flew in yesterday to be there for the birth this morning.
38Congratulations
39Congrats!!!!!!
40Congrats! Maddie is such a cute name!
41I think any name with the word "Mad" - as in crazy - should have been avoided by this family. But, at least you can spell it, pronounce it, and possibly even find a pre-made pencil with that name on it. Did anyone see the article today about the high school in Gloucester, Mass where 17 girls (juniors and seniors) are pregnant because they made a pact to raise their babies together? One of the fathers is a 24 year old homeless man. I don't see why we're celebrating teen pregnancy, and we should be careful what message we're sending to young girls. I would say this situation is the pro-lifers dream come true.
42it's still so weird that she's a mama at 17 ... but congrats to her. I hope they all have a happy and healthy life together.
43I think she should have given her a real name... maddie is a nickname... At least she didn't name it CaseyJaimielynn like her crazy-ass parents.
44congrats
45stilll too young but congrats
Maddie is a lovely name, good luck to them.
46glad to hear the baby and her are healthy, thats whats most important
47Congrats... her pregnancy seemed to fly by!!
48Congrats to her! And cute name.
49Aw, yay babies!
I agree anya & jaxon!
I dont really like nicknames as first names, its kinda weird, but I dont like the 'weird' names either, its like they're trying too hard to make their children special before they even have a life yet. And all babies are special - duh!
And I dont like giving girls boys' names: Brian, and I def dont like that 2nd N on Briann. Whats up with that!
Thats why I'm gonna probably name my kids the boring-est names I can find. Like Mary. or John.
