ICYMI, Jamie Lynn gave birth to a baby girl, Maddie Briann, in Mississippi on Thursday. She managed to make almost as much buzz as her sister back when she first announced her pregnancy, but it seems like now that the baby is here the scandal is old news. What do you think — are you still excited to see Jamie Lynn as a mom?

Other: I was never excited to see her as a mom. Shocked, yes. But not excited.
1What could possibly be exciting about watching another child raise a child? It's tough enough to do when it's your average teen pregnancy, but throw in the fact that (Louisiana backwoods lifestyle or not) this girl lives a fairly priveleged life. Something tells me she won't really start parenting until her 30's - even her sister has yet to do so. It's really kinda sad - let's hope we don't end up with another complete disaster of a Spears in 16 years.
2I wish the media didn't give her any attention b/c she's too young to have a child. If she were my child I would be less inclined to celebrate the pregnancy.
3I'm with albeli
4Great another hillbilly baby. how sad for that girl she just runied her life!
5Good christ. Who cares? She's 16 years old?
6never was excited about this at all. poster child for why people at 16 should either keep it in their pants or learn how to use anti contraceptives.
7she runied her life!
8nat, you mean contraceptives, right? Anti contraceptives doesn't make any sense
9No... I have a hard time being excited about seeing a 17 year old as a mother.
10i was never excited for her to be a mom...not at 17, but its over and done with and I would like to see what Maddie looks like now.
11Why can't overheated teeny-bopper boys & girls just keep it in their pants? She just destroyed her life. She had a bright career ahead of her, a futur. now it's finished because she has a baby on her hands. She could have been partying out with her friends andnow they're gona be partying while she's changing diapers. There are two options for her:
1. raise the child and give up her dream-career and any teen-fun
2. completely neglect the child and continue her life
Boys and girls, learn from her mistake.
12i never was. stupid kid
13Not excited, not shocked. Concerned. She is a child herself.
14Not excited. Grossed out that people seem to actually celebrate another teenager giving birth. Just because she's a celeb's sister does not make it okay! If anything it glamourises something that is a PROBLEM in society, not something to be excited about. Not only is the world too crowded, the last thing we need is to be treating giving birth like something we should all rush into before we even have wisdom teeth.
Boo.
15you are absolutely right rabidmoon. It'sick. It's nearly as bad, and if not, worse than kids idolizing druggie celebs
16I've never been excited to see her as a mother.
17im exicted to see , she might do better job than britney.
18I don't see why I would be excited to see Britney Spears's teen sister as a mom.
19I agree with the consensus here. there is nothing exciting about watching the media glamorize a tragedy. Children should not have children, and she is a child. I am so glad I don't have any kids growing up and watching this crap on TV. It's so pathetic. I don't think we should condemn her, but we definitely shouldn't be glamorizing this life style.
20She's no Juno!
21I would like to see pictures of her and the baby, and see how she is around her. I bet she'll be better than her sister. I'm not really feeling the baby name though!
22She's 17. Older than most of your great grandmothers were when they had their children. I doubt you'd tell them that was "sick" or, "a tragedy". I think she'll be a great mother if she doesn't lose her mind to the pressures of stardom like her sister did. Her daughter is innocent and when she's old enough to understand I doubt her mother (whatever her age may be) wants her to feel like a mistake. I had my son at 17. He is now 8 and I have taught him to make the best of every situation life throws at you. He is loved every bit as much as if I had given birth to him 5 years later. Maddie is an innocent child who is no less important in this world than Shiloh, Suri, Apple, or any other human being. And honestly, I'm not even a fan of any Spears work. On that note, yes, I'm looking forward to seeing pictures because I enjoy pictures of any baby.
23I am disgusted. She is a child herself that now has to raise yet an even younger child. This is no way to start a relationship. Sadly this will create trouble for her and the Casey. I don't think this should be glamourized.
24Wow, is this 1995 again? I'm not shocked at all that a 16/17yr old had a baby. This was more shocking back in the day. I am disapointed with our youth, there should be more sex ed in schools or something. There should be more awareness of STD's too. I usually tell the high school kids I work with to make sure they use protection if they have sex. It's that simple. Nowadays you just never know.
25I agree, I'm disappointed with our youth. Whos next?
26Who really cares at this point. Is it really all that interesting.
27Brynn, just because our ancestors had children as teenagers doesn't mean it's a good thing now. They also died of typhoid at 40. Would you like to bring back that little tradition, too? I'm glad you're making things work in your own life, but I think most of us would agree that there is no rush to have children these days. We have options like education and travel in our teens and early 20s, and the babies can wait.
I know this is not a popular opinion, but I don't think teenagers should have sex, period. It's just stupid. I know they're all doing it anyway, and I can't stop them, but I don't want to see the pictures of their babies either.
Also, why are JL and Casey even bothering with being engaged? What are the chances that marriage would even last a year?
28God what a stupid stupid question.
29Don't care. She's just another unwed teenage mother to me
30Eh. I'll read stories about her as a mom, but I won't go out looking for them. I kind of hope that we don't hear too much about her, because that means she'll be doing well.
I really like the middle name, Briann. My dad's middle name is Brian and that will be my boy's name, but if I don't have any boys this would be a really nice alternative. And let's face it, Maddie is a relatively normal name. It doesn't have 2 q's or 5 z's so I'll give her props for that.
31I'm not interested at all, but unfortunately we'll be bombarded with pics of her and her daughter, whether we like it or not.
32Why don't you let the issue rest, instead of continuing to beat the drum on it. It's over, fait acompli. What troubles me is how it keeps being thrown in everybody's faces, move on and drudge up some other scandal to bellyache over. Let her raise her child in peace, I'm sure she will make do just fine.
33im not going to praise a girl that is my age on being a mom, thats dumb, talk about skinny ppl influeincing young girls, like having sex and having babies and getting married is sumthing else we want all girls to do!!!! i feel sorry for the Spear's baby girl...
34Could not care less and can't see why it would interest anyone in the least.
35At least "we" wont have to pay for the kid...like welfare, wic etc...she wont be on public assitance!
36I have never had any interest in the Young and the Trashy, and this is no exception.
37Dear brynniev
38Due to lack of medical advancements life expectancy was not as high as it is not, so...make a new point
Yea..she is young. But I do want to see all that goes on. Thats why I come here to Pop!!
She's not the first young mom, not gonna be the last either. And I really want to see who the baby looks like. Congrats to the new family!
39Other.
40I was never excited to see her as a parent.
She's still a child.
why would anyone be excited about a 16 year old having a baby? stupid poll
41Never been a fan of the spears clan to begin with. I'm over it. Also It's 2008 this happens now and then. Sad but true.
42I have mixed feelings. I question whether she has the personal capacity to take on this big and important responsibility -- raising a dependent offspring, and putting her child first. On the other hand, she may (as maturity is not always connected to age. I've come across some young people who demonstrated more maturity than middle-aged adults), and so there's a part of me that's optimistic. Like I said -- mixed feelings.
43her middle name is pronounced bree-anne not Brian, like a man!
44Let's ask these girl this question:
http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2008/06/report_of_glouc.h...
45Wasn't excited before, even less so now (if that's possible).
46Jamie Lynn has not "ruined her life", nor is her child a mistake or a tragedy. The attitudes that people have toward a young woman accepting responsibility and making an adult commitment is the tragedy. 17 is old enough to learn how to become an adult and a mother. If not, then why is 18 old enough to learn to become a soldier and to die for your country? For centuries women and men became adults and parents in their late teens, and there is no reason why Jamie Lynn can't do it.
And yet now, people think it's necessary to spend at least a decade having multiple sexual partners and playing video games to be "mature enough" to get married and raise a family. The thinking is completely backwards, and quite frankly, wrong. I have seen more than one very successful teenage parent, including a doctor.
47Other - never HAD an interest in the Spears family soap opera.
48Not that I care much what the friggin Spears clan does, but glamorizing teen pregnancy isn't help reduce it. Quite the opposite as many parts of the US have seen a recent increase of teen girls getting pregnant, some on purpose, and all with fewer choices than Jamie Lynn has.
While a 17 year old is capable of learning parenting, the question remains whether she will buckle down and be a parent or be out partying, whining about her missed youthful opportunities just as her older sister has.
49Yes, she is way too young to have a child. But from all accounts, she has been handling the situation very well. So really, get off your high horse with all the "trash" comments or calling her stupid. If she didnt have the "Spears" last name, she would not be attacked as badly.
Did you all think the same when Keisha Castle Hughes had her child at the same age? I bet not
