Let me know when Wino drops dead. She's a waste of breath, no pun intended
I will miss you, Mr. Carlin. You were a funny funny funny funny man.
1Hopefully this will make Amy reevaluate what she is doing to herself. Hopefully
2She is just soooo skinny
3get it together amy..this can be your last chance..*sigh*
congrats to timbaland
4Oh Amy, I can picture her with a cigarette right next to an oxygen tank.
5I can't believe Amy got the picture....and not George...
6emphysema is no something that can heal. she haaas to stop now or its a fecking oxygen tank by 26 years old!!!!

9George Carlin you were one of the greats and will be sorely missed.
10Wino got the picture because she's more "relevant" to Popsters than the late great George Carlin. And she's a fecking trainwreck.
11Amy.. what a mess... Time to be sectioned and looked after!
12Yeah I know blob, and that saddens me a bit. But I saw on the next page he got his own article. I jumped the gun on my rant a bit
13smh
14lolz thats totally funny!!
15you know, it's such a shame when someone so young has such an illness that you know she brought on herself. maybe this will cause her to change things in her life...we'll have to wait and see
as for ellen and portia - CONGRATS
16I can't believe she has emphysema this young??? I mean I know she's her share of drugs, but WOW. If that doesn't wake her up, nothing will.

18Amy Winehouse - GET IT TOGETHER! Stop smoking or you could lose not only your career, but your life.
19BOO HOO amy, you reap what you sow, i dont feel sorry for her at all, everyone offered her help and she didnt want it.
20Seriously have you ever heard an interview with her?? She's one of the most honest yet insecure people ever, she didn't choose the drugs, anyone with just an ounce of knowledge knows that addictions are not simple matters of just quitting, she has all the money, help and support in the world and yet she's sinking! Lets try to support her, she's clearly depressed and fighting to get better even though its not happening as quickly as one could hope!!
21I like her music so much, it's sad. How can a person get to this point?
22Clap clap clap, i'm with you iloveana.
23i hope she gets better...it must be so hard...
24I don't even care about Amy Winehouse. She's just an example of someone who's had it all: talent, a shot at success, and she's just thrown it all away. Pathetic.
25hey iloveana- she did choose the drugs. Pretty obvious she continues to choose the drugs. Everyone knows that addiction is tough and sometimes impossible but from what I have read and seen, she doesnt seem to be trying to get anything other than high. I adore her and have been a fan of hers since Frank came out, but she is in desperate need of help and if she would choose to get some, she could do it.
26Amy, remember Billie Holiday, Dorothy Dandridge, Janis Joplin...
She could be so great. Damn it. Get it together.
27exactly Briandiesal, she chose to do drugs, you have to have culpability for your own choices.
All it takes is one minute to say "enough is enough" and the will do follow through....Thats it.
and yes i know what addiction feels like.
28Addiction is very misunderstood. Anyone who thinks Amy chose to do this to herself or just made stupid decisions doesn't get it. It's not like she picked up a crack pipe the same way one might go to the salon and impulsively decide to get a bad haircut or a perm. The bad haircut is a situation where one would say - that's a bad decision, look what she's done to herself! Addiction is more like anorexia or something. Only ignorant people look at an anorexic and say, "Why doesn't she just eat something?" It's way more complicated than that. Addiction is just a symptom of a much deeper problem - mental, physical, and spiritual - that she has probably suffered from for a long time - likely before drugs entered the picture. If she can't address the root of the problem and begin to recover, she will be condemned like the millions of dead alcoholics and addicts before her. She's not smoking crack because she wants attention, because she's just being stupid, or because she's being irresponsible. Those things may be true. But she's abusing substances because she is giving into a condition that is beyond her control right now. To her, this seems the only way to go on living. More than anything, this girl needs people's prayers, compassion, encouragement, and support - not pity, not condemnation. I hope this talented girl gets the message and is able to find the path. She could be such a light to others.
Karen Carpenter was a great talent and wildly successful and had it all. But she was anorexic, and I'm sure back then everyone just thought she was motivated by vanity or whatever, and I don't think anyone these days would be cruel enough to say she deserved it for not eating properly. I think once we learn more about addiction, we won't be so quick to just think those who suffer from it simply lack good morals or good judgment or are just losers.

30Sorry for the double post. PC's suck. Especially really old ones.
31Someone at Amy's age does NOT get emphysema from smoking. She may have a disease called alpha one antitripsin. It is a genetic liver disorder which attacts the lining of the lungs due to a lack of a specific protien. It is highly prevelant in England and middle Europe. There is no cure, but if she stops smoking and takes treatment she can stop the progression of this little understood disease. I hope she has good doctors that will do a simple blood test to determine if she has this disorder. Her destructive behavior will only exacerbate the problem. She can choose to clean up her act or slowly die a little every day.
32ok..bottom line: Amy smokes crack
RIP George - he made me laugh on many stoned occasions
33Mali- I smoke, so I get addiction
But the simple fact is, with help and a support
system, addiction is more "controllable" and you are more likely to be successful in quitting that dependency. My whole point was that she is not even trying to be well or fight the
addiction. As soon as she was released from the hospital, she lit up a cigarette. I mean come on!
Karen Carpenter actually died from "recovering" from anorexia—she was recovering from the disease but her quick weight gain placed enormous pressure on her heart, which had been weakened by years of malnutrition.
34So sad about George Carlin. He was hilarious.
Unfortunately I can't say the same about Amy. While it's sad that she has emphysema she did bring it on herself. It's not like you can catch it.
35Well, it has been confirmed that Amy does NOT have emphysema. But I was sad when I heard the news. She's so talented, and I think she's really pretty (she's not typical looking, but that's what makes her unique and I love her bad@ss style lol). I hope she gets help because I want to hear her making music for a good long while.
36poor bastard
37We all have vices. She is old enough to know what she is doing to herself. I guess since i havent walked in her shoes, all i can do is say a little prayer for her.
