Yesterday afternoon, David spoke to the audience at his old team, Manchester United's match, saying that his years with the team were the best of his career and calling the team's manager the "best in the world." Aww, Becks, we don't need your best years stateside, we just need your pretty little face and beautiful little family. And your wife's reality show. I'm a little unnecessarily excited for that, too. 10Mr. Beckham's reflection reminds me greatly of Richard Rorty's perennial works on hermeneutics. It is not at the time that we realize the quality of life we have, or the love we feel for somebody, or how great banging that ex-girlfriend was - it is only upon reflection and contextualizing the events in our lives that we can fully assay what those moments meant to us. If Beckham were to take a personal survey of his life while he was at Manchester United, he might not realize how lucky he was, or how happy, for the context of his situation was different - as was the content of his mind at the time. But to take a hermeneutic approach, to realize that its all a subjective experience, and that we must fully understand the greater context of a situation in order to value it - that is what Beckham seems to be doing and what Rorty recommends as key to continual growth.

13I didn't used to like Posh, until the day that Pop posted videos of her in interviews. She is suprisingly hilarious!!! I saw this one video of her being interviewed by two little kids, it was so cute. She seems so nice.
I used to think she was a snob because, she didn't smile in pictures. But, she doesn't smile because she doesn't really like her teeth, and she had another reason I can't really remember.
Posh has done well with David and the "Beckham Brand" but she doesn't have a singing career to stand on. The one thing she does have is a sense of style and fashion.
