i wanted to see wall-e so bad with the kids oh well
1wanted was good
2Wanted was a great action movie (the stunts are amazing) but didn't Angelina say her and Brad weren't going to do any more nudity in movies for the sake of their children? She gets pretty damn naked in Wanted (and it's completely gratuitous).
If you go see Wanted, just remember to leave your brains at the door because the story is completely ludicrous.
3I saw Wall-E
Ummm..I was disappointed. I wished I would have waited until it came out on DVD. Very few words were spoken..and it had adult undertones that the kids just didn't get.
It wasn't a horrible movie, just not what I was expecting.
4Thanks for stating that Ruslana was Kazakh not Russian like every other report has been stating. Kazakhstan and Russia are not the same country and haven't been part of the USSR in nearly two decades.
5I hope they investigate what happened to Ruslana because something's just not right about the story.
6My opinion of Ms. Hathaway is going to change greatly if that story is true. How cheesy to rat out your BF for the sake of a stupid movie.
7I don't think she necessarily asked them to hold off until she was out of the country for promotional reasons. It was probably for personal reasons...to spare her pain.
8Sad about Ruslana. I agree they need to investigate.
9I feel for Anne Hathaway, maybe she didnt want to be around when the man she obviously loved and was about to move in with was taken to jail.
10i think that people assume that if a celeb donates money for something, that they want to have a lot of influence. i think that will smith was doing something that was nice - helping education systems, and people need to lay off.
as for the model - wow - that's a shame. i think that being in the fashion industry - you're given access to a lot of things, and your life can be very hectic and stressful. it's a shame that she was so young, and wishes go out to family and friends.
is it sad that i'm REALLY happy that Wall-E did so well? (over wanted that is?)
11Wanted did better than expecred and it open in 1000 fewer screens than walle, and wanted budget was on $75 they should make that money back this weekend
12Is Will Smith a Scientologist? I didn't know that...how sad!
13Will Smith has gotten creepy. I don't like him anymore.
14i am DEVASTATED to hear about ruslana. she is sooo beautiful and had so much ahead of her. i am not convinced with the ruling of suicide. it reeks of deceit, and i think artem perchenok should be interrogated within an inch of his life. it just doesnt seem right.
15oh, and geraldo should be shot for his insensitivity.
Wall-e blows "Wanted" off the chart in so many ways.
First of all...
Wall-E opened in 3,992 theaters. Wanted 3,175. If you want to talk brass tacs, that's actually 817 less theaters.
AND...Wanted has had months and months of promoting itself.
"Wanted" had A-list celebs...Oscar winning Celebs..."Wall-e" has no one really famous to even speak about and going by Hollywood standards, "Wall-E" had very little promoting. Many people didn't even know what Wall-E was when asked what movie they were going to see this weekend..according to MOVIE BUFFS Inc. Wall-E is almost a silent film, with no A-list names bringing people in, and it didn't have any where near the promoting that "Wanted" had...and it still CREAMED "Wanted" hands down! With all those facts considering, you can't even say that 817 theater difference is where the curve was...No way.
Lisa Schwarzbaum of Entertainment Weekly encapsulated many critics' views, saying "'Wanted' is kind of unintelligible and idiotic. Also kind of nasty and brutish.
It's an action film and is predictable as action films go. One critic said, if Maxim Magazine ever decides to make a movie.."Wanted" would be the one. In other words...made for men, by men.
16If they'd covered the poor girl's body correctly, Fox wouldn't have been able to show her.
17WALL-E was AWESOME! It was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. My BF actually said it was THE BEST movie he has seen in a while. I do agree it it's for older kids because of not having as much dialog. Even though it def. didnt need it. it was perfect!
18WALL-E is a great movie and has a wonderful underlining message too!! My five year old son sat through the entire movie and normally we have to say at least two or three times for him to sit down during a movie. He sat still and just watched the entire movie. I had never seen him do this before and he would laugh and react to all the action. A GREAT MOVIE TO SEE!!!
19I'd rather see the movie Wanted than Wall-E. The previews to Wall-E didn't look that interesting to me. But I did enjoy the movie *Get Smart* not long ago.
And I wish Tom Cruise had kept his mouth shut about the Scientology mess. Now everyone associates him and all his friends with it. Will Smith has said so many times that he doesn't do all that like Tom does, but here we are again with the media bringing that up to Will and his associates.
20Leilani:
I don't think you made your point, hon. If Wanted played in 817 LESS theaters and still made $51 million, then, in reality, it actually made MORE money than Wall-E and should technically be #1. Also, take into account that childrens tickets are less than adult tickets, whereas Wanted was Rated R, so all the tickets were full-price.
21Hon
Since movies are in the most part seen because of who stars in them...and considering Wall-E had NOBODY as opposed to a movie with 3 A-listers..yet it still beat it out...That speaks VOLUMES.
22Hon: Not to start something, but.. Can you really compare a Rated G KIDS movie, which ALWAYS open at #1 to a Rated R movie about assassins?
Come on, even if Hancock had opened up with Wall-E, Wall-E would have won, despite Will's usual dominance.
Shoot, even The Game Plan with The Rock opened at #1, again, because it was a kids movie. If The Dark Knight were to open the same weekend as Madagascar 2 does, guess who would win?
Common sense.
23I get what you're saying Leilani. It was a movie with almost no spoken words and no famous actors. It beat out a movie who had months and months of PROMO done and with THE most famous woman in the world right now. yeah, I can see how that is quite an accomplishment.
24Not quite sure why people are getting so worked up about which movie took #1 spot at the box office...
