It's no secret how much we love Victoria Beckham — plus her gorgeous hubby and adorable kids — and in her interview for the August Allure she once again shows off her funny personality. Posh takes a look at a series of photos of herself in the past years and reveals what she thinks about her family, fashion, and why she gets a reputation for never smiling. Here are highlights:
- On her family life: "At the moment, we're fine, the five of us. At some point, I'd love to have a girl, you know – just for all the clothes I've got to hand down. It would be tremendous fun. I've got great girlie advice that I can share."
- On her looks: "I just make the best out of what I have. I'm not out-of-the-ordinary-looking at all. I'm incredibly ordinary"
- On her non-smiling Posh persona: "I kind of created this character at the beginning of the Spice Girls. I didn't smile very much; it was quite pouty. I was famous for wearing a little black Gucci dress. [Except] it wasn't a little black Gucci dress, it was a little black High Street dress. It was incredibly cheap. I just accessorized it well and had the pose that went with it. [...] Of course I smile. It's just that they don't use those pictures. It's a better story to say that I'm a miserable cow. I get it."
To see what Posh has to say about Project Runway, her past looks and her beauty routine just read more.
- On Project Runway: "[It] shows how hard you have to work in fashion. These designers don't have money. They don't have huge budgets. Some of the challenges are there just because they're fun for TV. Is anybody ever going to be asked to make a dress out of candy? Of course not. But it makes good viewing. I see Heidi quite a lot, and her kids. Really lovely family."
- On a 1997 photo of her with the Spice Girls: "You know, fashion changes. Rather than ever looking back at my clothes and cringing, I look back at the makeup and cringe. It looks like someone beat me up and pushed me onto the stage."
- On her personal style: "If I'm going to an event, it takes me about an hour and a half to put my hair up and have some makeup put on … I don’t have a stylist. I deal with that side of things myself. [...] I have a photographic memory [for clothes]. I can remember what everybody wears, all the time."
As usual, Victoria impresses us with her honest commentary and down-to-earth and modest attitude. Plus, maybe now that David is back we'll see that smile again.

I absolutely adore her. I love that she doesn't take herself too seriously.
1There you are!
2I always KNEW she'd look fabulous with curls!!
3i used to not like her, but when i watched her on her tv show coming to america or whatever, i fell in love with her. she is so funny and sweet
4ok, I love her....and she's so funny!!!!
5she seems like a nice lady...
6i really like the way she looks on the cover.
aww..she's lovely! great interview!
7I really like her- doesn't take herself seriously and a great sense of style. So very Posh!
8I looooooooooooove her. I think she is charming and sweet.
9I have no beef with her at all, I don't know why people give her a hard time. She seems extremely involved with her kids.
10she's awesome... and very normal... but anyhow... she's major
11I adore her too. She is so awesome. Vicky looks great in these pictures.
12beautiful photos-- so simple.
13i enjoy her comments. so down-to-earth.
She looks good, I like her hair like that, soft curls makes her face look softer.
14She sounds like a nice and honest person.
Lovvve Her
15I like her too now.... She's funny, and she really cares about her family.
16She is pretty when she's not too skinny.
17i want her to adopt me...
oh but i cant have david as my dad... or as anything.. he`s too hot..
18she is so funny
19love her!!
20I love her!! She is very real and original.
21I like how soft she looks in these pictures. I adore her. And doesn't it make sense that 'posh' people don't smile if that's what her Spice nickname was? But I agree with her answer for that.
22i really like these pictures of her. she looks so pretty. i think she is on of the celebrities i'd most like to know her real persona and not just what we see of her through the lens. interesting dichotomy i'm sure.
23She looks great in those pics! She sounds funny, can't wait to read the rest of the interview.
24love her! she's fabulous!
25I had the "privilege" of waiting on her and the family at a restaurant I work at and here's what my co workiers and I have to say about Ms. Becks. "She has the warmth of Cruellla DeVille." She is not what she seems in pics and photoshoped images. She is a cold cold person due to what society has "imposed" upon her. People may love her but the only question I have to ask is why do you love someone who's picture in a mag or website is all you know of them. Its weird.
26She has such a wonderful style (while very "out there" at times, lol.) I enjoy reading her interviews and I bet for the people close to her, she is lovely person to know.
27I like her a lot more, after reading this.
28Well but why does she create this terrible cold image?
Plus, she wasn't size 0 originally, I remember how did she look like in Spice Girls era, no orange tan, no huge melon like boobs, healthy body...
Maybe her clothes are better now but she is not a good role model.
29wow the soft curls are a huge improvement
30I am lukewarm on her. I want to believe the "Ordinary girl" stuff, but she is not an ordinary girl, and her life is far from ordinary. When the whole David/Rebecca Loos thing hit the press, I am sure it was a blow to her pride and confidence, and I sympathise with that. But I never really sympathised with anything else about her, because she just...has this coldness about her that I do not like.
Though reading the article slideshow helps me understand that her overposing is about her showing off the outfit, and not her personality, I also think trying too hard while in the "real world" is never that attractive. She is not a model on a runway, after all.
I do think the two photos above are perhaps the best ever taken of her...
...but as stars go, I much rather see someone with a big genuine smile who can still work a dress successfully while doing it. Those people do exist (Geena Davis, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts among others)...
THAT is the epitome of charm to me, where a person's individual warmth and style bring life to the outfit, not the outfit having to bring "life" to a cold, hard expression.
31AMEN rabidmoon
32I like her, but I don't spend half my day obsessing over it.
33i think that she's really used the media to her advantage. she knows exactly what she's doing and it seems like she's known that since the spice girls first came out. she's in control of how people see her and that's probably the best thing for being a celeb.
i don't know if i'll ever get tired of her. the one thing that i'd love would be for her to go back to having long hair - but that's neither here nor there since i don't see that happening any time soon.
34I'm happy she does not take the media seriously.
35shes so cool
36gorgeous as always
people love to over analyze wayyy too much. Its kinda funny actually

38I have a love/hate relationship with her that's for sure. And the British press just don't seem to like her AT ALL. It's so funny to see so many people in the US say how much they adore her!
39Does anyone know who the photographer is? The photo of Posh sitting in front of the fireplace with a mirror is totally a recreation of a Balthus painting. The photographer must be a fan.
40I think she's Fabulous, and it's great to see that she's funny and witty as well.
41I think she's great. She looks terrific always - she never looks bad even when she's casual. She takes her role as a celebrity seriously - like a job (which I suppose it is), and it reminds me of what Hollywood must have been like back in the old days when people would have never left the house without being ready to be photographed. She seems like a genuine entrepreneur with her sunglasses line, denim, perfume, etc. These photos are awesome. I bet few women would have been able to be Mrs. David Beckham and still managed to have a separate identity. Good for her.
42Those curls dont suit her at all, in fact - why does her forehead look so huge?! LOL
Other than that, I really like her.
43She does have such a cute personality. She is right about the photogs want to portray this sour b*tch persona for her.
44love her!!!! and after reading her autobiography love her even more!!
45I think she's great, I really do. I love when people dont' take themselves to seriously
46she must get so bored of answering the same old questions, must be fun to have a photo shoot though... if people read or watch her interviews and still b*tch about her then there's got to be something wrong, she can do know more than be herself and down to earth.
47I love her personality toward the media and all the gossip. She seems to take it with a grain of salt and just lives her life.
48I also adore her.
I agree sweettea, it is a bit weird that people say they "love" celebrities, but I think people feel like they know someone a little bit when they constantly "see" (movies, magazines, tv) these people. Perhaps it's not the "real" her coming out in this interview but whether it's real or not, she's still incredibly entertaining and interesting, and isn't that what she's supposed to be? She's a celebrity, a singer (somewhat lol) - in other words, an entertainer. That said, I do like to think she really is that quirky.
49"It's a better story to say that I'm a miserable cow" ahaha priceless! I love that she's funny and witty, and doesn't take herself too seriously... those are rare qualities in hollywood!
