Lauren Conrad took a break from star-studded red carpet events to share the limelight with an adorably scruffy doggie at the Animal Fair 9th Annual "Paws for Style" event last night. Apparently there was a bit of controversy when LC refused to walk the dog on the runway, but anyone who has seen LC with her pup Chloe knows how much this girl loves animals, so maybe it was all just a little misunderstanding. At least Lauren can count on her friends for support and keep on smiling thinking about scoring the No. 25 spot on our 2008 PopSugar 100.

3I was there, she was standing backstage the whole time. She stayed until the event was over. For some strange reason she was handed someone's dog when she walked the red carpet and the dog was given to someone else when runway event began, she was backstage standing there waiting for a dog.

8How much do reality C-list stars get paid to do these events? It must be nice to not have to work for your money- stupid MTV and making all those normal people think they are hot-stuff cause of stupid reality shows . . . I still can't believe she dropped out of college- what does she think she'll do when she's 30? 40? 50? She can't rely on pretty then- don't these people think about the future, retirement savings, 401k's?

16"Lauren just wanted to help the animals. She agreed to pose for the cover of the magazine, host the event, do press at the event and donate clothing, all of which she did. We are unaware of any other commitments. Lauren continues to support the Humane Society, as it is a wonderful organization," her rep says in an exclusive statement.
