Christian Bale was arrested for assault in London today, after allegedly lashing out at his mother and sister Sunday night before Monday's British Dark Knight premiere. Following the supposed incident at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel where Christian was staying, his mother and sister brought the accusations to the Hampshire police station who referred it to the London police. The police held off on arresting him until today and although Bale remains in custody he has not been formally charged.
Update: Christian has been released from custody and was ordered to return to deal with the matter in September.
Update #2: Christian's rep has released the following statement: "Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."

5The source is the Sun, I'm not believing anything until something more reputable comes forward. Also, in England they will arrest you far quicker than they would in the US. You can be arrested just to be questioned on allegations.

23Let's not jump to any conclusions. In the UK you have to be arrested just to be questioned. It could be a matter of them having an argument and he threw something towards them. We don't have all the details yet so I am definitely reserving judgment. Or maybe I'm giving him a break because I think he's a great actor. Man, I'm shallow.

When asked Tuesday about the news reports, Scotland Yard said it was investigating an allegation referred to it by another police force but refused to say whether the incident involved Bale.
And then they didn't arrest him earlier because they didn't want to mess up the premiere.

He walked into the police station for an appointment, he wasn't dragged out of the premiere. The Sun was the first to report, I would be willing to bet that the other magazines/newspapers are reporting the story so as not to seem behind on the news.

lol, are you kidding? This was a person that his mother created and carried around for 9 months, not to mention raise from a baby. I think it goes a little deeper than just "knowing" Bale. I'm sorry, but I do think something very inappropriate happened. The mother will probably recant though after someone tells her it could ruin her son's career.
