After a relaxing weekend showing off her bikini body with her boys, Britney Spears got back to work on her new album last night in Hollywood. While we're excited to hear what she's got in store next, she may still be getting recognition for last year's Blackout. Rumor has it that Brit will be scoring a VMA nomination in the Best Female Video category for "Piece of Me." We'll find out for sure tomorrow night on FN MTV, and though it may not be as exciting as another comeback performance sounds like a good way to get Miss Brit on the red carpet for the show.

6The video for "Piece of Me" wasn't even that good! People just liked it because it was an improvement over the atrocious "Gimme More" video. It was definitely not "Toxic" or "Oops...I Did it Again" material.

15Adding to Tiabia's point, it's supposedly fan-vote driven and no, they won't admit she didn't put much effort into it, because many of the die-hards seem to deny she can do anything wrong, even now. It's somewhat Orwellian. Britney's "#1 fan site" even solicited visitors to vote last week and provided a link to the voting to help them get there.
I thought last year's VMA was endlessly entertaining. Look at the spoofs, spinoffs, and parodies that went on for months. If it weren't for last year's VMA we might never have found Chrissy Crocker.

20what are the vma's coming to??? i used to love when they recognized innovative, well directed vids back in the day. i like britney and i'm no cultural snob, but that video is boring and effortless!
21it would be the best opportunity for her to try to do another performance though and we all know that with the amount that she's been rehearsing and doing other work related things, this time it could be a good thing for her. we'll have to wait and see right?

25I want to say first off that I'm a Brit Supporter.
That said though, I'm NOT a Brit supporter at all costs. When she effs up, I admit she effs up, much like the piece of me video. As a big fan of hers, I will absolutely say the the "piece of me" video was far from her best work.
I believe what is happening (And I know how far off base i could be) is that the industry wants her back SO BADLY that they will give her false hope and kiss her butt so that she doesn't completely turn her back. You can't tell me that The powers that be REALLY think she's doing all that great in her career right now, and if they DO, then THEY need to be put on a 5150.
I adore her, but I'll be the first to admit that while she may be on the road there, she's a LONG LONG WAY from home.

27damn Brit...is it that hard to put on a pair of jeans, throw the plastic rat hair in the neat ponytail and maybe some coverup and lip gloss..no, like seriously...frumpy is cool 4-5 days out of the month (ladies, you know what I'm saying) but every-single-day-looking-like-a-f*****-bum, geeze...I realize I may never see the "Slave For You" Britney again and I can accept that...all she needs is like 4 long hairs coming out of her chin to complete this look
