Looks like there's going to be a couple of new celebrity babies on the block — a rep for Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell has confirmed that Rebecca is pregnant with twin girls! Keeping on the celebrity twins trend, the happy couple will be expecting their first babies this Winter. Jerry and Rebecca just celebrated their first wedding anniversary on July 15 but will have to wait a few months for their very special gifts. Congrats to the parents-to-be!

33It seems awfully early to be talking about gender. I think it was with IVF and they used PGD to determine genetic defects (you can also tell the sex). It would be great if celebs who get infertility treatments would be open not only for the over 35's. We had to do IVF at 29. Age wasn't a factor- a anatomical defect was

34I totally agree with LS. I understand privacy and all that but it is pretty obvious that is how all these people are having twins and they make it seem like it is something to be ashamed to admit. I wish they would be a little more forthcoming on how they got pregnant. It isn't like admitting to plastic surgery for goodness sake.

Women release more eggs in their thirties and forties for obvious reasons. I just assume they are shagging more when they are trying for a baby.
37Who knows twins are genetic on the mothers side. She might have twins on her side of the family. The eggs divide. We don't know. Could be IVF could be the eggs divided on their own.

42Don't be so sure that they had in-vitro everyone. I want to point out something here.
I have 4 friends, that in the last 5 years have had fraternal twins completely naturally. No in-vitro what-so-ever. And in 2 of those 4 cases, there aren't any known sets of twins on either side of the family. It just happened.
I can't explain it, but it almost points to environmental changes, if that's possible. Just like hundreds of years ago, a baby weighing 6 or even 5 pounds was "normal", and now that is considered itty bitty.
I'm not a doctor or a scientist, but there's been a HUGE rash of twins that really AREN'T in-vitro and there has to be some explanation for it.
43Congrats to them. I'm glad that she's happy. I really must disagree with the admonishment of celebrities who wont reveal they've had IVF. This is such a personal matter, and you dont know how long certain people have tried or how many hormones they had to take. Anyone that has gone through it should have some sympathy for wanting to keep something like that private. The idea that they should tell that type of private business in order to help others is a little silly as well. It doesn't help anybody by telling the public. People in their 30s and 40s shouldnt be looking to celebrities for validation anyway. Who are they? They're pretty people who pretend to be other people on TV or film for our entertainment. Why do you need them to admit to using IVF in order for society to accept it. You're society. You accept it. Stop making it a witch hunt to figure out who's infertile and who can pop pout 30 children when they share a bar of soap with their husband.

45It may not be in vitro... It could easily be CLOMID.
Clomid (a pill) is one of the fertility drugs that women take before going through an IVF cycle. When you do just a "Clomid Cycle," you have an increased chance of getting pregnant with twins because your body is being told to "mature and release" more eggs.
Then, if you have to do an IVF cycle, they put you on the MEGA FERTILITY drugs... Which you have to inject.
I'm betting these are Clomid twins. Not necessarily IVF.

47I agree with The Missus, it could just be clomid that increased their chances of twins. IUI (more commonly known as artificial insemination) can also produce twins but it still depends on the fertility meds taken to trigger ovulation.

49actually Haydee, IUI and the meds used to trigger ovulation do not increase your risk of twins.
with an IUI (intra-uterine insemination) it just means they place the semen directly inside the uterus to give the one egg you ovulate a better chance to be fertilized.
IVF produces a lot of twins because they place MULTIPLE embryos inside the uterus to give you a better chance of of least one embryo implanting. this is mainly used for people with poor ovarian reserve, and other issues related to age.
women in hollywood use IVF because they can actually PLAN to get pregnant around work schedules. you can time your IVF cycle. i know people who've done it. sometimes it takes two or three cycles but they eventually get there.
and it's no one's business how people get pregnant. there are women in hollywood who've used egg donors, surrogates... who cares.
