David Duchovny left the red carpet in LA and hopped over to London to promote The X-Files: I Want To Believe. He was out looking casually cute as usual — or not, you decide. So far, the movie's been a disappointment in the box office, bringing in only $10.2 million last weekend compared to the first one's opening weekend of $30 million in 1998. David doesn't seem to be too upset, though, and showed off his good nature in an interview with the Daily Mail. Here are some highlights:
- On his childhood dreams: "I never dreamed of acting. I loved basketball and dreamt about being an athlete and a writer; those were my two ambitions. I never had any firm plans, though, they were just childhood fantasies. But somebody should've told me that I was never going to make it as an athlete; I wasn't good enough."
- On being famous: "Fame for me at this point is something I can't make go away; I just don't want it to be infamy. I love what I do, I get paid well, I'm happy with my life and am very grateful, but I don't do it for the fame. I understand fame, I accept it and I get it, but as an introvert it makes me uncomfortable. But you know, poor pitiful me — whatever — it's just tough."
- On what he's trying to give up: "Ego, delusion, insecurity, fear of failure. It's like the Samuel Becket line 'Fail again, fail better,' so I am always trying to fail better, not feel better."

- On believing in the paranormal: "I have not seen any paranormal evidence, but I do have suspicions. I think it makes more sense to believe that there is more to the world than just the physical, and that there are more forms of life than live on this earth. I am open to spirituality, but not to quackery and things that are clearly ridiculous. But if I saw as much evidence to point to the existence of the paranormal as Mulder did, I would be open to it all, certainly."
- On a funny fan experience: "Nobody has ever confused me with Mulder, but years ago I was in an elevator in Chicago and a guy said: 'Good morning doctor.' I was like, OK. And then I realised he thought I was Noah Wyle from ER, which is set in Chicago, so I said: 'You've got the wrong show there, chief.'"
- On family: "Just being at home with my family is great. Tea and I are lucky. Our relationship just keeps getting deeper — which is exciting. My kids don't care about the work I do. Children just care about having a stable home, having a mom and dad, and we spend a lot of time with them. We try to work at different times so that we are not both away too much. I don't believe there is just one person for you. I believe there are a number of them and that it is all a matter of timing and luck whether you find any of them."
David sounds like he has a great attitude about life, especially when it comes to his family. Whether or not his movie does better overseas, seems like this actor is one thing we can believe in. Now, we can't wait to see him when he returns as Californication's Hank Moody this Fall.

I believe he's hot, if looking very thin, lately.
1I feel like the X-Files movie was poorly marketed, which is part of the reason why it didn't fair well in the box office. I didn't even know there was one coming out until maybe a month ago when I saw a preview in the movies. There weren't that many previews on TV, so I don't think it really got the proper publicity due to the popularity the show had.
2Yeah,it didn't had enough publicity around this movie.
3YES, FINALLY!!
4Why doesn't he ever make all of the hot guys lists? Boyfriend is intellectually hot!!!!
I've always had a bit of a crush on him!
5It was like Fox just didn't want their movie to do any business. It was a great movie. A movie you had to think about, very intelligent.
6Thanks Popsugar for posting pictures of the hottest guy out there! It's just taking people awhile to figure that out.
I really love him, I just think he's got something special. I enjoyed the new film too...I wish it had been marketed better and that it had been given a better chance to succeed at the box office. But I guess any film that doesn't automatically make more than 30 million at the box office in one weekend these days is considered a failure. Funny how the industry has changed.
He seems like such a grounded individual...and I love his sense of humor!
7Who is this guy???
8Bad timing to quietly release the film one week after the biggest blockbuster of all time. Most weeks $10+ million opening would be pretty respectable, and it's still going to make money.
The new X-Files movie probably appeals mostly to smart funny people, like David. It's a good movie, unless you want special effects, CGI, and lots of stuff blowing up. This is more about character development. I liked it a lot.
9WHOA eat a cheeseburger...
10Looooooove me some Duchovny.
11Im sad the X-files didnt do well. Its a better movie than the tacky Sex and the City.
12He is looking quite slim, ehmmm. Im still hoping for the best with this film.
13He has a Tenhead. I love the X-files and Duchovny but look at his head!
14He does seem to be gaining a larger forehead. But I still love him.
15He's looking awfully thin.
16He didn't look this thin on Letterman. I still love him and love his dry sense of humor.
17hot
18I'm pretty sure it's the camera angle folks - the man is just delicious! I haven't seen the movie yet (but will very soon). I loved the series, loved the first movie and think that most of you all are right, it wasn't marketed well and it's not the "blockbuster" type movie. It's for a more thinking crowd, much like the series was. Thanks for the pics - I never tire of looking at him!
19I totally ♥ him. There's not enough of him here on Pop, that's for sure. But I guess that's kind of what I love about him. I appreciate his view on fame. The guy is ridiculously smart. And witty. So hot.
20I love him, but I feel bad that the X-Files movie didn't do too well!!
