Ben Affleck just finished filming his directorial debut film, Gone, Baby Gone, in Boston. He kindly thanked the city for being so accommodating. It was as if he was running for office. He said,

“There are a lot of people who had to find new parking spaces and had to go around a lot of detours,” he said. “A lot of people just walked by, who we put in part of the movie, and they helped us out. I wanted to say thank you and say how much we appreciated that.”
“It’s been a perception historically that Boston is a terrible town to film in,” he said, rattling off the list of studio gripes. “As a consequence, Hollywood has shied away from people who wanted to come and film here.”
While I’m proud (of the film), we didn’t have enough time to include more of the city as part of the story,” Affleck said.So this time around, the first-time feature director insisted that “Gone, Baby, Gone” be shot on location in Boston because it’s a city that “doesn’t feel like it’s everywhere else.” (The state’s new tax breaks for filmmakers also helped his case, he said.)
“It has a distinct personality that comes across,” Affleck said. “There’s a lack of pretention; an informalness, a sense of community. . . .People root for you here"
Ben also said Violet and Isabella had a nice play date on the Cape this summer and how he and Jen really enjoyed living away from the paparazzi infested LA life for a little while. Don't worry though, they will be back west soon.

23He is just Effin' Ugly. Or Fugly.

25i will always always always love him. does anyone know what the movie is about, thats the name of a song i believe
26i love boston and i LOVE ben!
27He's right about Boston being unique. I've never seen a city quite like it. It's the perfect mix of historical and modern. They're definitely stubborn about not conforming.
He's right about the car situation, though. It's all about the T. Driving there is a NIGHTMARE & forget about parking!!!!
You know, he loves it so much, and his last several films have totally tanked. . .he should just pull a Schwartzenegger & run for governor of MA...or mayor of Boston....or something....
28p.s. they should totally stay there.
29I never liked him never will
30ugh can't stand him..something about his huge head
31He is so hot in that Christmas movie with Christina Applegate.
32Having lived in Boston for a good 26 years, I have to say I'm sick of this city. No offense to all you Boston-lovers!
If there is one thing Ben was spot-on with, it was mentioning the parking and the detours/traffic. We're notorious here for lack of parking and insane roads. Ben picked just the right thing to talk about to please us Bostonians. It was a great PR move.
And of course, we get stories of Ben sightings all the time.
33i love this book...can't wait for the movie.
34lol Jamie. James Gandolfini and Catherine OHara killed in that movie!
35yeah, Jinx., I watched 2 days in a row...it was funny*
36I like him, and I don't understand people who doesn't like him, I simply can't comprehend it. It is so obvious, that this guy is a very lovable guy, who is always giving more than he takes. I can feel his good charisma, it hits me right in my dried out stoned heart, and it makes it all warm and red and willing to go on beating again and again. As long as his heart is beating - mine is too.
