Katie Holmes was full of smiles working all weekend long with rehearsals for her September Broadway debut, taking a break from her comfy pegged jeans for a summery dress on Sunday. She had her trusty black binder script in her arms at all times like a security blanket as she made her way around the city solo. It sounds like she might be welcoming of a little alone time considering she was happy to recently move into their home without so much of Tom's family, but we're excited to see him and little Suri join her in Manhattan soon while she prepares to hit the stage.

i love to see more of katie, and i hope that things are going ok for her. being in NYC alone has to be a welcome change - and i wonder if she'll get to see joshua jackson since he's here - and they go way back!
1and to add to that - i think that it's a GREAT thing that katie put her foot down about everyone who's living in their house. it's one thing to take in your parents when they are older and need attention - but it's almost like his family was just living there cause he provided a great lifestyle for them..

Her smile probably seems forced because the photographer is intruding on her space or saying something awful. That's the face I would make when people hollar at me trying to get me to convert to their views when I walk down the street downtown. Or when they hand out flyers...

15GeriAnne - I didn't criticize her for being casual, I'm all for laid back casual. I have issues with her choice of ill-fitting jeans - that she to MissAmy's point wears to death
16Maybe she doesn't care what everyone thinks of her comfy jeans. I surely wouldn't give it a second thought knowing she is having a comfy day. Now if she showed up to the oscars in that, I would go on a rant.

joannn, I think this trend is coming back ~~~barf~~~ I went to drop my sons lunch off to him at school last week (Yes, he's taking summer school, dang kid) and there were 3 girls out in the courtyard ALL with the ankles of their pants pegged like this. I didn't like the trend originally, and I don't like it now.
