Ever the chameleon, Avril was decked out in the punk style that made her famous as she left a London club this week. She's got reason for celebration, too as Girlfriend, the first single off her upcoming album The Best Damn Thing is already in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100. Lately though, it feels like we've seen more glam Avril than punk Avril, especially at her extremely white wedding last year. In April's Jane she talks about what went into that decision:
"I wanted to be like, 'Oh, let's totally have a rock 'n' roll, goth wedding,' " Lavigne tells Jane. "But at the same time I was like, 'I've been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl. I have to wear the white dress.' I wanted to be a princess, okay?"
Part of the appeal of a traditional wedding was its timelessness. "People thought I would have done, like, some black wedding dress, and yeah, I would have. But at the same time I was thinking about our pictures. ... I didn't want to be, like, 20 years later, 'Oh, why did I wear my hair like that? It's not cool now.'"
These days it seems like Avril can switch between rock-n-roll girl and princess at the drop of a hat. We personally prefer the grown up glam Avril to the punk spitting pop tart but she's lucky since apparently her fans like her either way.

12I haven't heard her new song, but I LOVE her pants. I think Blake's outfit on Idol this week inspired her. I think the idea behind Punk is to be yourself and not care what other people think. She's doing her own thing, and that's great.

In the rest of the interview she talks about how she doesn't fight any more & then talks some fight she got into where she kneed a guy in the crotch b/c he called her a poser (or something to that effect). 45I don't like Avril because I think she's such a faker! She first came out and claimed to be this hard core punk rocker that didn't care what anybody thought! And was even quoted in saying that she would never wear a dress or have to pose all sexy and sell herself out! And then a couple of years later she goes and gets all glam hollywood on us....or at least tried to! She should have just kept her mouth shut!
