Jessica Simpson helped kick off the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis last night, taking the stage dressed the part to perform some of her new country tracks. A crowd of 4,000 watched county music's hopeful new star show off her new music while her father Joe was apparently escorted around the event by seven state troopers. One thing everyone is sure to be listening to is the controversial song in which she talks about her history of abuse. The recently revealed lyrics don't give away the mystery man, but hopefully that's all in the past with sweet Tony Romo. Jess's fair tour is just getting started, but football season is right around the corner so hopefully she'll save some of those lungs for cheering, too.

3BS on the abuse crap. Must she always perform in daisy dukes?
4This chick is lame. Why doesn't she just pose for playboy.
5i want her legs
6I find it hard to believe the abuse stuff. I am really surprised. Well if she was abused I am happy to see her well and alive, I wish her the very best in her life...but I don't like her. I think she is talentless and ridiculous.
7Love her, and the abuse is sad if it happened. But, it's just a song so who knows. Maybe it's taken her this long to not be afraid, and this song is her way of healing. If that's the case, then carry on Jess. No one deserves to be abused, and I will never accuse a woman of lying about it without absolute proof, because all that does is make OTHER abused women not WANT to talk about it.
8Oh dear - every time I see her I think, WHAT is she wearing? She's a pretty girl imo, but she has zero style.
9northernstar -
RosaDilia - yes. it's all she has. obviously daisy dukes and cowboy boots means she's country.
That shirt is not helping her.
10I'm indifferent about this girl, but I do find it annoying that since she went country she's dressing in a stereotypical (sp?) country fashion. Do any of the country singers dress like that anymore?!
11i love jess but uugghhh she needs to wear some normal clothes. You can be a country singer without the boots and denim! lol.
12I didn't realize Jessica Simpson was famous enough to have a Vegas impersonator... Oh. Wait..............
13she looks smoking hot, i agree mykie, yeah lets encourage and discredit abused woman
14dear Jassica simpleton,
You are not a country star, nor are you a pop star anymore. Its sad that you are probably on the same state fair circulation as Tiffany and Indianas largest pumpkin, just go in and swallow both of them whole with your enormous mouth, that'll knock em dead. Tell Papa Joe that you are tryin yer best to make some cash, maybe you could get preggers with a backup dancer like britney did, or maybe Papa joe could give it another try, it worked for ashlee.
15She has a nice figure and she seems like a pretty nice person, however, going from performing at Madison Square Garden to opening State Fairs really doesn't bode well for the career.
16LOL CaterpillarGirl!!!
17I've seen bathing suits with more fabric than those shorts. Is her music not enough to draw a crowd....she has to wear the shortest, tightest clothing to get people to fill the stands?
18What is this girl wearing????
19Oh god, I hope she doesn't come to my state's fair!...
And I call BS on the whole abuse thing. I'm pretty sure she's just exagerating a story to sell more CDs. She is desperate.
Oh and of course she has to wear a jean jacket, cowgirl boots, and tuquoise jewelry. She's country now. Although most other country singers dress like normal people and just wear jeans. Oh wait, she can't wear jeans, because her legs are the only reason 90% of the crowd is listening to her sing!
20She even looks stupid singing
21The girl has great legs, she's definitely rocking the shorts but she should lose the shirt.
And I agree Mykie, who are we to say she's lying about the abuse. That is one of the reason abused woman don't come forward.
22how did the people know what she was wearing prior to the event, to get them there
23okay, on the abuse note, I agree dont make fun. but the girl isnt on the news, or in a paper reporting it, or trying to help someone who maybe has been through the same thing.....she is singing about it in a new country music album.....not exactly a thing to take seriously.
24Cat, that's the point. The song may not even be ABOUT her. Not every single singer writes every single song from their life. But that song MIGHT mean something to someone else that IS going through it and seeing the derogatory comments made about the situation can make the afraid to come forward for fear they won't be believed. Abused women often don't think rationally about the situation. They need support and words of encouragement from the public to help them free themselves.
25I totally agree with Caterpillar Girl.
26nick should drop vanessa
jessica should drop tony
nick and jessica
27so who abused her? was it Nick? Is that what she is insinuating? I have never liked Jessica and still don't.
28State Fairs!! You know your life sucks when...
29She wants attention/sympathy/record sales... and her low budget songs and hideous low rent cowgirl outfit just aren't doing it for me... can't stand her now, but I didn't have a problem with her when she was on Newlyweds... I just feel like it was all a bit more genuine and real...
30Oh wow.No comment. She just seems fake to me.I agree with kimdangirl
31As a proud yearly attender of the NC State Fair I'm gonna stick up for everyone who performs at them. One of my favorite concerts ever was at the State Fair, Willie Nelson played for 2 hours when the typical concert only lasts about 1. The State Fair isn't always a performers last hope. The tickets are relatively cheap so the fan base who can't afford to see them in the Garden can attend. Past performers include Brooks & Dunn, Taylor Swift and Sugarland, not exactly failing acts.

37too much going on with one outfit...
38lisa101 - don't you mean "somewhere a trailer park is one ho down"?
Was the crowd
really there to see her? Cuz I heard that there were also mule & donkey performance classes. Maybe that's what they thought they were watching.
39i agree jenbrett. some good performers play at state fairs.
i am meh about jessica. she's a pretty girl (unlike her dog of a sister) but that shirt isn't doing anything for her figure...
40she's attractive, i guess, but she has no talent and her family is so weird (well, mostly her dad) they are just a money hungry family imo
41Ugh,
lips.
So if she fails at Country does that mean she'll go away?
42fishlips umm wrong person
lmfao woop
43"Cuz I heard that there were also mule & donkey performance classes. Maybe that's what they thought they were watching."
WOOP!
Good one!! Happy TGIF!
So did the crowd boo her this time, too??? Coming from Iowa (and they made a movie about our state fair), you can get some good performers, but usually the bottom feeder acts. Too much country for my liking. Doing the State Fair circuit is deffinately a downward or an attempt at an upward path (if you are starting out new).
44pinkprincess1101 "how did the people know what she was wearing prior to the event, to get them there"
She wears daisy dukes to EVERY contry performance! Lol!
45She is hoping the claims of "abuse" give her more depth. I bet her "abuse" turns out to be that she got her feelings hurt by one of her boyfriends. How dare she try to equate that with women who are truly abused. And how dare she try to smear the names of all the men she's been with, implying one of them is an "abuser", just to try to get attention for her cd.
46i thought she wore jeans a few times oh well, maybe thats why they went hell i would too, although i do think she has talent just dont like the faces she makes, lol
47Nice outfit Jess. Ugggghhhh.....
48She is not skinny enough for this outfit anymore. She should dress normally. Is it me or is she trying to copy Carrie Underwood's (boring) life?
49She does look awfully thick
