Tropic Thunder has gathered some boycotters over the past few days, but that didn't keep away Hollywood for last night's big red carpet premiere in LA. Fresh from a weekend of rehearsals in NYC, Katie Holmes popped in on Tom's arm to help celebrate his acclaimed cameo in the movie. Of course, the stars Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black were all there with their wives. Stiller in particular spent time defending his movie's edgy content, but only this weekend's box office will tell whether or not people are scared away by the controversy. Matthew McConaughey and Tobey Maguire, who both also make appearances in the film looked great out last night with The Office guys too making it quite the little boys club, with a few pretty faces like Katie, Amy Adams and more sprinkled in for good measure.

15Katie looks so chic in this fitted navy blue dress showing off her new cropped hair do which we love. It was nice to see all the stars of the film attend with their wives who all looked fabulous. Also really liking Alicia Silverstone's black dress with highlighted long toussled curls!

I think Katie looks good here, though yeah it's an awkward robot pose in that main pic. Tom, on the other hand....terrible and non-flattering outfit that highlights his shortness and makes him look really dorky. White sneakers? Sunglasses? Short purple sweater vest? Yuk!
36Katie and Tom look awkward. It's just too bizarre, I can never put my finger on it, they always look strange and disjointed even though they have their arms around each other. This is how I thought Katie would look 20 years from now.

43Even though Tom has a cameo in this movie, I think his turning out for the event was more "look, I'm a team player, I'm just one of the guys" than anything. He has such negative publicity around him now, that perhaps this was a calculated move to make him seem more approachable??
He should do stuff like this more often; I think it would be good for rebuilding his reputation as a likeable guy.
I've seen other angle shots, and Katie looks better in them. I think this was just an unfortunate shot. Although I wish she would stand up straight. Her head is always learching forward like it weights 50 pounds and she can't support it. Stand up straight, girl! Everyone knows you're taller than the hubby.
Oh, and white sneakers? Too "Seinfeld". Tommy's handlers need to update him. Also, he's too short for the sweater thing. He should take pointers from Ben STiller, who is also height challanged.
