Selma Blair was spotted in this trashtastic blue get up on the set of Kath and Kim the other day with some cozy slippers and James Frey's Bright Shiny Morning perhaps to read between takes. Selma told us she gained over 20 pounds to play the role and although she still looks fabulous, we can expect Selma to keep growing out of her clothes and more into her character. She said she loves playing and figuring out her new role as Kim. Selma's also spending her days on the set giggling with her co-stars, Mikey Day and Molly Shannon. Sounds like the energy on this show is amazing and if Selma's outfits are any indication of the over the top character she'll be playing then it's just more of a reason to watch the show next month.

it's nice to see that extra 20lbs on her, she's otherwise too skinny for me, so when i normally look at her i feel a bit... i don't want to say repulsed... it's more like it makes me feel nervous when i look at someone so frail. anyway she's a good little actress and i'm just totally thrilled that Molly Shannon is gonna be back on tv, that woman is my kind of crazy, lol.

2She's still too slim and attractive to be Kim. The point of the show is that Kim is a very average looking chubby girl who unironically thinks of herself as super-hot - a "foxy-moron" and a "hornbag". Selma is very attractive (even more so with a few extra pounds IMO), so for someone who looks like her to think she's hot is only slightly arrogant, but not utterly ridiculous, which is the way it's intended to be.
What's even worse, if the show has any resemblance to the original, there are several times Kath criticizes Kim's weight. This would send the message that women with Selma's body (with the extra 20lbs) are overweight, which I think is really sad.
3i think that's so funny that she said she's gained weight to play the role - she's always been tiny and she still looks rather small. she's really such a funny comedic actress that i'm sure she'll do well in this role and i can't wait to see the show when it premiers!

5Isn't it interesting how that is Hollywoods view of chubby and adverage looking? Like a previous poster stated Kim is meant to be an ordinary looking girl and Selma actually looks 100 times more hot with 20 extra pounds. Too bad she'll never relise it.

I DO think it's believable, because to me, she is anything BUT hot. I remember in the movie Legally Blond when Reese said to the woman in the beauty salon "She's not COMPLETELY unfortunate looking". Great description.
I like Selma's acting, I really do, but I do NOT think of her as pretty, not in any way, shape or form. She looks like a man.

28Okay, if that is her after a 20 pounds weight gain...I don't even know what to say. If they even think about calling her chubby or heavy, I'm going to flip my lid. That is a very healthy weight and she looks fabulous and I cannot imagine how terrible she must've looked 20 pounds lighter. Yuck.
